The food has always been amazing. The service is hit or miss. The bald bartender is the worst at customer service. He is so rude.

This was our first time trying the restaurant. And our experience was terrible. We were seated and sat for 20 minutes. Waiter after waiter passed. We sat there patiently but while waiting we saw 2 tables sat and get their drinks and food before we got out drink order put in. When I approached the front, the host was kind enough to help and sent someone. the food was really good I will say that. It was the service that we disliked. The waitress was bold enough to keep my change which was way more than the 40% tip of my bill. As no change was given back. That being said, we are not the type to shortchange anyone who attends us as I have waitressed and know how difficult it can be. Maybe it was an off day. Make this time number three that I have had to go to Barton's and it gets worse each time. They have a service problem. It was around 20 minutes until anyone came to our table and the server was absent for most of the night. Some of my party came in early to sit at the bar for a few drinks. When a lady in my party was striking conversation with the bartender, the jerk said "I don't have time to answer your questions". Then he proceeded to talk for another 20 minutes all about something else. Total class act. Save your money. Go elsewhere. Place needs a reality check. read more

I mean I guess it's a 4 for Longview...but this place is just unpolished. I ended having g an entree of salmon with mushroom risotto. Salmon was overcooked, I can forgive, however the pasta was like a soup, with cheap salad topper mushrooms. It came topped with a pesto Alfredo sauce for some reason, not sure why as the risotto completely over powers everything. I was a little off put by the bar not making a fresh drink (smoked old fashioned) instead dude made a double for me and another patron poured that in my old glass, I do that at home not at a place where I'm paying for a drink. I need a new glass rimmed and with expressed orange peel. I need a new damn cherry. Staff is nice and helpful. I'll leave it at that. As I said it's seems to be a great local place, not necessarily a place for me. I'm happy to give them a second chance with a different entree in the future. read more

I go to Barron's at least twice a week if not more. Last night I had the worst experience with their bar tender Todd. He was ETREMELY rude and unprofessional to myself and a friend. We were in need of an extra chair for our table of five so we borrowed one from the empty seating area of the bar. Todd felt the need to yell across the restaurant, in front of several patrons, that "it was not about us today" and that we should ask him first before adding to our table. This is not the first encounter with this employee. I realize that it is difficult to find workers these days, but this is a nice establishment and they are really struggling with some of their employees. As for Shane, Stephanie, and Cam we will forever support them. If Todd is working, this party of five will move on down the road. read more

I don't know what happened to this place. We booked a party of 10 for a special family Birthday and were told we could decorate and bring a cake. That was good. The server was absolutely nonexistent. We had to get up repeatedly and ask other servers and even hostesses for help. No refills, no pre-bus, no condiments, nothing. Long wait time. Food came out directly as salads did and was mediocre at best. Cold. No clearing of plates for the cake that we brought. No asking if anyone wanted coffee. Had to ask for plates and forks for cake and to-go containers with plates never cleared after. Auto grat on the ticket gave the server 20% for a job not even done. My friends and I had dinner here recently and it was so good! For an alcoholic beverage, I got the JuJu and it was really good. It was the right hint of strong and sweet. I got the blackened trout with rosoto and green beans. The trout was seasoned to perfection and so full of flavor. The rosito was packed with flavor. The green beans were good as well, and seasoned to perfection! For dessert, I tried their cheesecake and it was delicious. It tasted so light, fresh and fluffy. It literally just melted in my mouth. Just met a friend here for dinner. It was really spectacular. I knew it was going to be a great night because we had a fantastic bartender in Todd. He took me through the menu and the special. I ordered the Cafe Pasta, which was perfect, with a light white wine sauce. My friend had the Sea Bass, which was the special and he said delicious. I love the atmosphere which manages to be casual but warm and special at the same time. Highly recommend. read more

We had lunch here and it was okay. I had the Bison burger and my wife the Flatbread. My burger was good, just not a lot of flavor. Same could be said for my wife's Flatbread. First let me talk about the lady in the front at the host table im not sure if she's the manger or the owner, but wow We walk in let her know our party, all she did was point to our table (oh over there) I didn't know we suppose to walk ourself to the table lol... our table spent 1330$ party of 18, our server was great and attentive. My point is you guy are a fine dine restaurant but management suck, not once the manager came over to check on our table or ask if the foods was alright or if we need anything else ... but I guess . last Saturday was disappointed our salmon was little over cooked and all my guy friends order the steaks, I'm not sure , because it's a lot of steaks being orders the steak was super thin we had steak there before and it's was a nice thick cut now mind you it's a 48$ steak.. disappointed we had better steak at road house. If y'all have a large party I wouldn't recommended Barron. I have to give the drinks 10/10 ! Foods Depend last couple time we went it was really good.. but Saturday with a large group of people I rated 6/10. Host or manager at the front need to work on greeting guest.. it's would be really nice if the manager spent some time to check on the guest.. especially when they spent thousands at your establishment.... This was my first visit and I liked everything about the restaurant except for the scam they ran on me. I was informed that they were out of the $48 8oz filet mignon because it was too expensive for them to purchase. Understandable, then I was offered a ribeye which I agreed to, medium rare (pink in the middle). It came out of the kitchen well done. I tried to eat it was it was dry and tasteless; sent it back. The second attempt came out rare, normally this would be ok, but the cut they brought was full of gristle. I battled through and got a $48 bill for a $12 supermarket ribeye. The server was very professional, the restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was great, but damn, I don't even think Morton's charges $48 for a lousy ribeye. What a great menu they have! There's so many interesting choices. The next time I am in Longview, I will try it again. Sometimes a restaurant gets a bad review because of service or lack there of. That may be the case this time. I realize it is tough to get good help... I ordered the Mac and cheese. Certainly enough for a meal and it looked amazing... however it was cold. I was asked to have it warmed and got a big eye roll. It wasn't returned until everyone else was finished eating. My husband ordered the Hot N Crunchy Shrimp and was very disappointed in the breading. We had to flag down a server and ask for iced tea refills as we did not see ours until she brought the bill. My family has been going to Barron's since I was a child. I don't live in ETX anymore, but we go almost every time I visit my family here. We went for dinner tonight. We had a party of 7, and one person's entree just didn't come out with everyone else's. Our waiter implied that the kitchen messed up and would get it right out, but almost everyone was done eating by the time his entree was served. Our waiter offered us a free dessert, but we told him we really didn't care for dessert - we'd rather he just take the entree off the bill. We waited a while for a manager to come over, but it never happened, so finally we just told our waiter to bring the bill. The person acting as manager tonight was also the bartender, and the person whose entree came late said something to him as he walked past the bar outside before the rest of us. The person acting as manager then proceeded to come to our table where the rest of us were still sitting and yell at us in front of the whole dining room about how the person in our party spoke to him and told us not to ever bring him back. When we asked the person in our party about it, he said that he just told him that his food was very late and he would've appreciated the entree being comped, and the manager responded that he was just looking for a free meal. To be clear, I'm not blaming our waiter in this situation. I think he tried to do right by us but the acting manager, Todd, wouldn't let him and then proceeded to YELL at us. It was completely unacceptable, and our family will not be back as long as he works there. I try to be a reasonable and respectful guest, and I have ever been spoken to like that in a restaurant before in my life. read more

Had dinner and cocktails last night at Barron's. It has a nice atmosphere and a friendly, well-trained staff. The menu needs some updating. They have had tomato basil soup forever! They need to add another soup choice.The trout and salmon had their sauces changed earlier this year but how about changing the fish choices. It would be nice to add a chicken piccata or a chicken parmesan or maybe a shrimp dish. The shrimp and grits were great ! Bring them back or add a light shrimp and pasta dish.The buffalo burger and Sonoran chicken sandwich are great but who really wants a sandwich when they go out for a nice dinner at night?! Time for a change or an update to the appetizers! This is not a chain restaurant and they have total control of changing their menu at any time. I hesitated to heave this review because we have been faithful to barron's for many years now but our experience there Saturday night was so disappointing I had to say something . Our waiter was very polite but so slow , the service period! was so-o slow. Evidently they decided to hire only one bartender for the whole restaurant and banquet room, took over 45 minutes to get drinks , one at a time (ridiculous ) the menu was disappointing , (mostly sandwiches now ) When the food finally was served, (over an hour and a half) the salmon was so over cooked and dry it was inedible . I could go on but I'll stop there. What in the world has happened to this once fine restaurant ? "terrible " So for now we will not be back for a long time . I hope this gets through and they figure out how to run a fine restaurant again . (Side note ) you are losing lots of money by serving drinks so slow" we would have reordered drinks several times. read more

While in Longview visiting family we came here and I am glad we did. At our server's suggestion I had the hot & crunchy shrimp. It was excellent! The mixed vegetables served as a side were very good and not over cooked. The mashed potatoes were a little dense but not bad. The restaurant is nice and cozy.
