This is such a cozy and comfy home. Trust me. I've stayed in some of the best B&B's in England and Scotland and Silver Lake B&B is up there amongst them. It's perfect. You are home. Really. It's comfy, casual, and clean. You will feel relaxed as soon as Ryan greets you. I almost hate bragging about it cause I know how wonderfully popular this place is and we won't be able to get a reservation again!!! There is lovely common areas to sit, read, play games or enjoy the 24/7 coffee, tea, water and beer. The breakfast is light. Orange juice, yoghurt with fresh fruit and choice of a small omelette or a slice of quiche and toast. We will be back when passing through VA.

Silver Lake Bed and Breakfast is amazing. The place has an old rustic feel with updated features like amazing showers, plentiful outlasts, flat screen TV in rooms with On Demand, and wireless connection. We stayed in the Garden room, which was amazing. I loved the Mennonite quilts, and the breakfast was amazing. The bed and breakfast is close to Harrisonburg, so totally worth staying here if you have child at JMU or one wants to have a romantic get away in the mountains. The care takers were amazing and we also enjoyed interacting with other guests.

What a wonderful bed and breakfast! The managers Ben and Hannah are so friendly and welcoming. They are very good at knowing if you want to chat or if you want your privacy. The have provided all the amenities, wonderful Bath and Body soaps and lotions in the bathroom, high quality fluffy towels, wine glasses and corkscrew, Keurig, teas and teacups in the common room. The historic 1750 log cabin has been restored beautifully and there is a book in the common room where you can read all about the renovation from those who lived in the house. This bed and breakfast is beautifully and simply decorated, not stuffy like some we have visited. So tasteful. The views from every room are beautiful, you can sit in the rockers on the front porch with a glass of wine or mug of hot cocoa and just relax and enjoy the views. I highly recommend this delightful and charming inn. It has such a wonderful welcoming feel!

All I can say is wow! Not really all I can say, that review would not be very helpful. We loved our stay at Silver Lake B&B. We arrived late, driving back from Boston after dropping our daughter off for her freshman year in college (insert tears here). Ryan was waiting for us, gave us a brief tour of the house and then showed us to our room. We found out that Ryan was the proud new father of a newborn baby, so we were thankful for his waiting up for us. The room (as well as the rest of the house) was beautiful, just like in the pictures we had seen posted. I was looking for someplace to help us adjust to having an empty nest when we returned home to Charlotte, and Silver Lake was perfect. The bed was comfy, the bathroom very nice and the wrap around porch with a local as company was much appreciated. We really enjoyed breakfast, and Ryan accomodated our dietary needs. We are looking forward to a return trip when we have more time to explore the area.

My fiance and I stayed there last weekend and had a lovely stay. The rooms are very nice and new, super comfortable and warm, but designed in a rustic 19th century style (not loaded down with tons of creepy Victorian old-time-y photos). The shower was hot with great water pressure. The breakfast was very delicious in the and the inn-keepers are wonderful. The B&B's location is peaceful and bucolic. We will definitely be staying there again.

Not much to do around so do not be disappointed if you still chose to come here. See it as a peaceful retreat. We did enjoy the Massanutten water park and the ice skating ring in Bridgewater for a new year eve with the kids! The Inn is a nice old house that has a lot of charme with the cracking floors. The owner is a very nice and friendly person. She made us some very good and filling home made breakfasts (except for the pancakes.... we did not found to our taste). We did also really appreciate the hot tube in the evening after our hike in the cold air of the mountains. The lower rating of 4 stars will be only for the fact we thought the place was not that clean : dust but hardwood floor not forgiving and bed sheets not pristine clean. Few items in china were not clean by previous user. Most certainly due to the fact that this is an old house with a lot of stuff around and tough to maintain alone? Won t blame her for that so much. We were also in the upstairs apartment with 2 rooms (kids were with us) which is in the old part of the house and does not look like the pictures you can see. Much older. The barn, which might be called cottage and or the other rooms for fewer people should be much nicer. But we found the price reasonable and at the end we will come back and still recommend it to other.

The first second we got there, the innkeeper was inviting and he offered us homemade cookies (which were sooooo good). Then he brought us to our room which was the Blue Ridge. The room was absolutely perfect and very clean. It had a gorgeous view of the mountains and the downtown area. We also ordered chocolate covered strawberries to celebrate my boyfriend and my 4th anniversary and they were very tasty-- we got 12 for $25. In the room also came a book with recommendations for restaurants, sites to visit around the area, and shopping. It also included how many miles away from the inn... very thorough! Breakfast was also amazing. Genuinely it was so so so good!! The scrambled eggs were fluffy, the pancakes with blueberry compote were so light and delicious, and who doesn't love bacon? They had coffee brewing at 7:00 am and had a wide variety of teas. Overall for our overnight stay, we paid I believe roughly $200 which seems totally worth it!! Especially in comparison to the other inns in the area. If we come back to the area, I will for sure go back to the Friendly City Inn!

(Please note the dates on other reviews are over three years old. This reflects the current…read moreexperience.) I wanted to love the Cave Hill Farm B & B. The description and online reviews painted a picture of a quaint antique-filled farmhouse. This is true. I loved the antiques! The player piano and some furnishings reminded me of my childhood home. The innkeepers showed us around the first floor of the B & B and told us Keurig coffee was available anytime. We were told we could use the wine glasses on the buffet and there were bottles of water in the mini-frig near the dining room. They brought us to the Bridal Room, which was furnished in antiques. We asked for a restaurant recommendation and were not disappointed with their suggestion of Hank's Grill. When we returned later reality set in. There was no water in the mini-refrigerator. There was no closet, the armoire was too dirty and dusty to place our belongings, and the only hook fell off the bathroom door. The following evening we noticed our room had not been tidied, we had already made the bed but towels were not replaced, the shower gel dispenser which was almost empty hadn't been refilled, and the single tiny waste basket was not emptied. I am aware many hotels and inns eliminated daily cleaning since COVID, but it was not noted on the Cave Hill B&B website, nor did the innkeepers inform us. There should have at least been additional towels delivered outside our door, or four sets of towels in the room the first day and shampoo and shower gel filled. The first-morning juice glasses and a beautiful empty pitcher were on the breakfast table but there was no juice or water, therefore no beverages for non-coffee or tea drinkers. When we returned that night the walkway was so dark I needed a flashlight. We planned to have wine on the deck off the upstairs hallway. (The deck was a plus.) There was only one wine glass and it had a fingerprint. The following morning no glasses were on the breakfast table and there was still no water. We would have loved to learn more about the farm and cave but the only times we saw the innkeepers were at check-in and breakfast and that was only for a few minutes while she placed the breakfast on the table. We did not see the innkeepers, nor get a "Hope you enjoyed your stay" at check-out, the process is to leave the key in a basket. Cave Hill B & B is an interesting property with lots of potential but it needs a good cleaning and some Virginia hospitality.

As of why it is called the Gold Room - you will see the funny story on that in the room! Breakfast was so good: freshly made and generous, served with a smile. I would gladly come back!
