What a Warhammer Reuben!! Their best seller is melt in your mouth grilled corned beef with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Sabi sauce served on toasted marble rye. I'm always on the hunt to find the best reuben in every state and The Cracked Pillar Pub has the best I've had in Virginia. The home style side of fries was also really good and im not a big "French fry" person, but I was today!! There is private parking for the pub, behind the building on a 1 way private driveway. They have a great covered outdoor seating area as well as 2 seperate indoor rooms to dine in. The Pub offers a full bar with plenty of seating if you prefer bar top seating. I will surely be coming back for the WarHammer Reuben and each of their burgers (they have a vegetarian grain burger), wraps, and sandwiches. If you fly into the Shenandoah Valley Airport, and are in search of nourishment, drive the 15 or so minutes here...it is worth it! First, for being by a college, it could have easily just appealed to that crowd. Their draft beer list was well-chosen. It's refreshing to have a wide selection of options! Second, order the fried pickles - some of the best I've ever had! SO crispy & crunchy in every bite. Plus, the breading did not slide off at all - a rarity among this dish. The signature juicy sauce was very interesting, sort of a southwest sweet sauce (I detected pickle relish in it)! The waitress suggested the bourbon steak wrap to me - and it definitely didn't disappoint! Even the house ranch with the side salad was nice, detected a bit of dill. The boss burger was also good, that whiskey boss sauce is fantastic! The Cracked Pillar has a nice ambiance, being in a historic building with a charming front porch and spacious covered outdoor seating in back. My wife and I were in Bridgewater to see The Magic Duel show at the Sipe Center, as part of an Anniversary weekend trip to Massanutten Resort. We wanted to grab something quick and easy before the show and we weren't super hungry, so we opted for some appetizers and beers at The Cracked Pillar Pub. The service was great and the ambience of the "outdoor" pavilion seating was very enjoyable on a warm September afternoon. We would definitely like to come back to this area again sometime and check out more offerings from the pub, as all the dished we watched go past us to other tables looked great! If you are a musician Or enjoy good music stay clear. The food is reasonably good pub style overall. The atmosphere outside is terrible as the music is bad and too loud for conversation. It hit 90 decibels. When we politely requested that the music be turned down a bit the manager said we should leave and she brought our checks before all the food was served. She was incredibly rude. Went on a Friday night with a party of two. We waited about an hour for our food. Waitress checked on us once after we ordered until I finally I went and asked if there was an estimated time on when our food would come. After that the waitress came back and said she didn't know how long it would take because there a wedding party upstairs. We then got an appetizer of fried pickles because the waitress said those were coming out faster. Those were delicious but a pretty small serving. Our food came out and my wife's burger wasn't hot. Our fries smelled and tasted burnt like the oil had gone bad. Not the best experience, not the worst. Won't be in a hurry to go back though. read more

Went for dinner with a group of 18. Called on a Wednesday to ensure they could accommodate the group on Friday night. Let me say that the food was good but the service was terrible! One waiter for the whole group. He struggled but he did his best. One of the group member didn't get his food until everyone was finished. On Wednesday of this week they were notified a group of 22 bikers would be coming for dinner at 630pm. Several of the customers arrived at 6pm, with only 19 total coming for Friday nite dinner. 1 server was assigned to the table Only 1 of the customers didn't receive their meal for 1 hr and 50 minutes. The other 18 got food in a some what timely manner The one last served ask to see the manger at which co-owner Patti Landes came to the table. She was explained to the meal of one was so late. She immediately stated "I am not comping you're meal". She was told they aren't asking for a Comp meal just to let you know that 18 people got served timely and 1 didn't. She immediately got a attitude and stated if you don't like it then "don't come back here". She was told this isn't the way you do customer service, she again stated just don't come back here!! In hard times of the Covid19 this isn't a restaurant owners way of being kind to their customers Upon approaching the co owner Tim Landes he immediately said she and I Are in agreement. I can't praise this pub highly enough. We showed up one Saturday afternoon in late June, without having been able to reach them by phone. The catch is that we were a party of 30 - a baseball team and their parents. There was plenty of seating for us outside, and someone (manager? owner?) called in extra help for us. This was my first time visiting this reataurant. We were is the area and chose it based on Yelp reviews. The menu is simple but the food is prepared well. The fried pickles were the hit appetizer but the burgers standard pub fare. There was a nice craft beer menu but pilsners and lagers were noticably absent. However, if I can get a Guiness on draft I virw amny beer sins as forgiven. I read a lot of reviews about the prices. For a samll college town, the prices were in line. Now, let me tell you. I wasn't really hungry when we got here, my family just sort of pulled me along, saying they wanted to try a new restaurant. The walk in was pretty nice, it's a very stylized building, with cool designs on the walls, nice but not overwhelming music. Sometimes you go into a restaurant and you have to shout over the music, but this one isn't the case. I ordered a half sweet, half unsweetened tea. I may be southern, but man, I like the taste of tea, not just brown sugar water. Our waitress - I believe her name was Megan - was polite, spoke clearly, and was very willing to help, so that was very much appreciated. The tea, with a wedge of lemon, was the perfect amount of sweetness, and actually tasted like tea, unlike lots of restaurants I go to. I ordered the fried pickles as a starter, and don't get me wrong- they were good, but I probably wouldn't order them again. They have a particular type of breading, and whenever I make friend pickles I coat them in panko bread crumbs, so it just wasn't my thing. The juicy sauce is a little sweet for my taste, it's a sort of paprika, ranch and pickle relish mix. My mother and sister loved it, but I like my sauces a little on the spicy side. Nothing to call home about, but it was good. Now, onto the best wrap I've eaten at a restaurant. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap. I've had a buffalo chicken wrap from everywhere I go, all of them are nice, but let me tell you. This wrap was fantastic. I'm not sure why I'm so transfixed by this thing, but it just has the perfect cook on the outside tortilla, the chicken is so well cooked with the right amount of juiciness, and I'm not pulling out all the chicken in one bite like with most wraps. The buffalo sauce was mixed with what I'm guessing is ranch; it wasn't too spicy to the point it had no flavor, but it was enough to get your tastebuds singing if you get what I mean. And the creaminess of the sauce was just *Italian chef kiss*. The lettuce was a little limp, but what can you expect from lettuce in a wrap? The thing about this one was that the lettuce still had that nice crunch to it. I'm going to cut myself off before I type another 5 paragraphs about this wrap. All I need to say is that I'm definitely going back, getting that wrap, and I'm going to be happy. The staff was kind, and very upbeat, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Went there on a Saturday evening for the very first time. Friendly staff and nice facility. But...... we got seated at a very wobbly table ( something like that should be fixed when it's noticed by staff when clearing and cleaning a table). After placing our order ( Around 6:00pm) the waitress came back to tell us that two of the items on the menu were no longer available so we had to chose something else A man who i assumed was the owner walked around and was going to every table asking how things were but didn't pay any attention to our table and walked passed.
