Our cabin was clean, unique and genuinely charming. It's not just a spot to crash--it feels like an experience. One of the unexpected and delightful highlights: we opened the refrigerator and discovered farm-fresh eggs waiting for us. What a wonderful surprise! We stayed at the casita for three nights and it was : 1) clean, like really clean, and I do yoga so you know I'm down there on the floor with a close-up view. 2) It was also beautifully decorated to feel like a home, very comfortable and tasteful furniture- possibly some antiques in there but good quality all around. Lovely shaded and private area in back for reading and catching up on work. 3) centrally located to many good places to eat (Mikasa, I'll review you next, you guys rocked!) and swim (Farmington Lake!) 4) run by the loveliest women! We were checked in by a very warm and efficient lady, and both times we stopped in for breakfast we were greeted quickly and felt very comfortable. It's hard to put into words how special Ancient Echoes at Kelly Place really is. It's not just a…read moreplace to stay near Mesa Verde and Cortez, CO--it's a destination in itself. We initially came to the area to visit Sutcliffe Vineyards and to explore Canyons of the Ancients, but Kelly Place became the highlight of our trip. Guests can easily access trails to ancient cliff dwellings and a restored kiva, all within the boundaries of the property, which overlaps with Canyons of the Ancients! It was awesome in the true meaning of the word. Few are fortunate enough to have this kind of access to respectfully admire and inspect the remains of an ancient civilization in such a private setting. With Sutcliffe Vineyards only 10 minutes away, and sites of the Canyons of the Ancients on the property, we could not have found a better place to stay. Our suite in the newly renovated main lodge was outstanding. The large room had a comfortable queen bed with quality linen and a fluffy comforter that I loved. The bathroom had a beautifully tiled walk-in shower that was very nice. Magnificent views from our room's windows offered more vistas of the surrounding beauty. The facilities at Ancient Echoes at Kelly Place are fantastic- modern comfort amid ancient history. We stayed in a suite in the main lodge, which was thoughtfully and tastefully restored by owners Celine and Allison. The main area of the lodge offers a kiva-style fireplace, shared meeting space, library and gourmet kitchen all available to guests. The private casitas and suites are perfect for family reunions or a peaceful getaway. We're already planning a return trip! We…read moreare about ten minutes away from shopping in Cortez and about forty minutes away from Durango. There is nothing fancy or new about this place, but I would return here again if I could. WiFi paid for the site, and it supported our Zoom meetings, could stream without any problems, and was the most reliable. The sites are uneven, but they came out and added some more gravel to help with mud and some holes. I was VERY thankful for the support! It is so convenient that you are so close to the park. In the evening, we went in and watched the sunset since we worked remotely during the weekdays. It was a little worn out in the laundry room, but it did the job as expected. There is no doubt that I would stay here again in the future.

We stayed at Ancient Cedars RV Resort expecting a premium experience based on many of the positive…read morereviews, but our experience aligned much more closely with the concerns raised in several of the negative reviews. The biggest issue was the overall lack of maintenance throughout the park. The grounds appeared neglected, with overgrown grass and weeds in many areas. The resort advertises dedicated dog areas, but both of our dogs came away covered in stickers and burrs that had to be painstakingly cut out of their fur. We also spoke with other campers whose dogs experienced the same problem. If a park promotes itself as dog-friendly and provides designated dog areas, those spaces should be maintained and kept reasonably free of hazards. What made this more frustrating was that there always seemed to be someone driving around the park with a weed trimmer, yet during our stay we never actually witnessed any meaningful grounds maintenance being performed. The condition of the property suggested that upkeep had been deferred for quite some time. Site spacing was another disappointment. The sites felt extremely cramped. The rig behind us was positioned so close that their patio area essentially backed up to our utilities. At one point, a neighboring camper accidentally stepped on our sewer hose because of how little separation existed between sites. We also paid for what was advertised as a "premium" site. In reality, it was located directly on a dusty road with a clear view of the campground dump station. That is not what most RVers would reasonably expect when paying extra for a premium site. After reading the reviews again following our stay, I find myself wondering how representative some of the glowing reviews really are. The maintenance issues, cramped sites, and questionable premium-site location were not isolated observations and seem consistent with concerns raised by multiple other reviewers. While the location near Mesa Verde is convenient, the resort itself did not deliver the quality or level of upkeep that its marketing and many of its highest-rated reviews would suggest. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we would not stay here again

Breakfast was great-- waffle maker, French toast, eggs, and potatoes, and fruit too. All day coffee and tea in the lobby plus they even had some soup out for dinner at night. I was a woman on my own and felt safe and comfortable although it's definitely not the fancy part of town and the clientele seemed to be mostly oil & gas crews. Convenient to lots of food options.

There is also no fan in the bathroom so when you shower it will get very steamy so i would not be surprised if that's where the moldy smell comes from.
