What a great location in Durango. The rooms are clean with modern amenities. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. The location is great, not too far from town but felt off the beaten path. We ride bikes and were able to access the river path and downtown very easily it's a bike friendly town... also don't miss out on the BBQ place next door! A great stop for dinner with amazing food and it's a 2 min walk from the hotel. We enjoyed our stay and would come back when visiting Durango in the future. read more

This is one of the cozier and cleaner little family run motels in town and I can easily recommend it. The property is on the north end of town, convenient to restaurants, the grocery, the ski area or downtown. I've stayed here on two occasions and am very satisfied. It's an older building, but has been recently remodeled - the rooms are still on the small side, but nicely updated and very clean. Parking is easy. They offer coffee and tea in the morning as well as discounts at a local coffee and pastry shop. The price is on the lower end and I think it's a good value compared to the many chain motels in the area. You don't get much more in terms of amenities from those places, and they often cost twice as much. The staff is friendly. It's very basic, but done right. Trust me, you could pay the same rate for a much worse experience in town. Also, the BBQ place nearby is pretty sweet! Happy travels! read more

So many 5 star reviews. What? This is an older, smallish motel (not a hotel). It's a clean, comfortable place to sleep, but far from a 5 star hotel. Let's get real. I paid $160 for one night in a small room with a very loud air conditioner, and paper thin walls. Motorcycles dominated almost all the parking spots in the small lot. To me, 5 star means expensive linens, amenities, pool, gift shop, restaurant, Spa, etc. None of this is happening here. Again, it's a "deal" in this outrageously overpriced Colorado town, but it is definitely NOT a five star hotel. read more

I've stayed at this "economy" hotel a few times now and every time I have stayed here, I always leave happy. Nigel, the owner, really puts his love, sweat and tears into his business and it clearly shows. Don't expect any frills here, but you will get quality for the price you pay. Rooms are clean with everything you need including small refrigerator and microwave. All rooms equipped with charging stations, TV with cable and free WiFi. Breakfast is offered from 7a-9a with coffee, tea, cereal, toast, English muffins, hard boiled eggs, fruits. Healthy and fresh! Heating is through the base board here so just anticipate it will take a little longer to heat your room on cold winter days. But once it heats up, the room is nice and cozy. Showers are hot with good pressure. I'll definitely stay here again when in Durango. You should too if you like quality for the very reasonable price, decent breakfast and friendly/helpful staff from owner down to the housekeepers! read more

Highly recommend this place if you're staying in Durango. The price was a steal for such a well-maintained room. You can definitely tell that the owners take pride in their business and this place is much better than the other big business inns. My friend and I felt very welcomed by the staff here. Joe was super helpful in recommending places to eat and suggested we take a few of the inn's business cards with us to get special deals at restaurants and bars in town. We totally took advantage of that and the places we went to definitely had good food and alcohol. Definitely ask for recommendations here on what to do during your stay here in Durango too! Breakfast is available daily as well which usually consists of boiled eggs, bread (raisin bread, English muffin, multigrain bread) with jams or butter or peanut butter, Quaker Oats, oranges, apples, OJ, coffee, milk, hot/cold water, a huge variety of tea, and cereal. For the record, we were asked once not to smoke in that area. When we did smoke that one time, no one was around except for the employee. I don't know why you think we were spoken to more than once, unless someone is not telling you the truth. The other employee saw us drinking there and never said anything to us. We only sat there because there was no covered area provided for us to sit while it was raining. Being flagged is of no worry to all of us as we won't ever stay there again. Stayed here recently with some friends and this was a great launching point for us exploring Durango! The trolley stops right by the entrance to this motel and was really painless to access! We ran into a missing key scare for a few minutes and the staff was really helpful in letting us know that we could ship it back if we found it later or if they found it in our room after we left. We stayed here for one night as we were traveling to Arizona from Denver. We needed a room with two beds but none were available so JOE offered a one bed room and told us he could bring in a rollaway bed for our daughter which he did. It was a small room but he removed the table and chairs, he even prepared the bed! What a guy!! We will definitely return to this location when traveling through Colorado. First, thank you to all the reviewers. Honestly if it hadn't been for the fantastic reviews we would have driven right past this great little motel. The entire staff, including the owners were polite, professional and some of the nicest people we met on this trip. The owners bought the place about 2 years ago and have continued to make improvements to the property. Even though the motel was right off the main road, our room was quiet. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower pressure was good and the water was hot. We booked the King Room and it was a good sized room with small table that worked fine for a work space. Fantastic wifi (114 down/11 up). Breakfast is minimal with toast, instant oatmeal, cereal, bananas and hard boiled eggs, but it's fresh and there's good coffee and a large selection of tea. (Honestly, why pay $30+ or more at a chain hotel with cold eggs and tasteless potatoes when there are several great breakfast spots in town?) read more

Wow, if only every motel could be as fantastic as the Adventure Inn. Newly remodeled old-time motel, with most of the building is 1 story and a small section is 2 story. My room (112) was spacious with a very comfortable bed, a table for eating/working, a good size mini-fridge, a microwave, generous size bathroom and lots of light. Very clean throughout. Shampoo and soap are in large dispensers--love the reduction in plastic use (thank you, Adventure Inn!). Everything exceeded my expectations--all three front desk folks (Jordan, Joe, and ?) were exceptionally helpful, friendly, kind, knowledgeable about hiking/biking/touring the area, and welcoming. I didn't expect breakfast at this price but there it was--hard boiled eggs, peanut butter/jelly/toast, oatmeal packets, fresh fruit, and a super great selection of teas. The tea, coffee, and hot chocolate are available all day long (and Jordan stayed after 9 pm one night so I could get a hot tea upon my return!). I love that they have Roku with free Hulu for guests. So many nice little perks like that added up to a great experience. I was worried when I first arrive in the afternoon that the traffic would keep me up. Nope, just as Jordan said, it was totally quiet all night. You can walk to Zia and to Nayarit restaurants quite easily. FYI, the other Zia location was better (friendlier, higher quality food) than this one but still, it's right there. Overall, this place was fantastic. Let's be clear, this is a simple, roadside, '50s motel, so don't expect the sparkly new-ness of a just-built property. With that in mind, the owners of this spot are trying extremely hard to provide a happy stay for guests - and it's working. They have a lot of rules to ensure you get a good night's sleep, like quiet hours, and a way to identify cars quickly should any car alarms go off. Need to clean your motorcycle? There's a special rag in the room for that. Beds and pillows are new and very comfy. Good, simple breakfast will start your day off right. A five star effort - book with confidence. Simple, clean, comfortable. We didn't need a huge room to spread out in, just something to rest for the night as we house hunted in town. You know how some hotels have a build up of cleaner and, uh... other stuff... in the carpets and comforters that make you want to keep your shoes on and not touch anything because it just doesn't feel super clean? Not the case here. Our room was nicely tiled and the bedding was bright and sparkly white. Even the bathroom, though older, just felt... CLEAN. I called in the morning, after I had never arrived to claim my room, the owner remembered me calling the day before asking about weather conditions and actually refunded my money even though they did not have to! Stayed here a few nights while on vacation during Labor Day weekend. Met the owner who is very friendly and helpful. The place is simple, clean, and relatively comfortable as Steph C. notes. The bed is a little hard for my taste, and our room had recently been painted and had very minimal decoration on the walls. The windows are old, single pane, so you can hear some road noise. The continental breakfast was basic and underwhelming, but it does save you money on not having to buy breakfast somewhere. The location is nice off the main road, and you can walk to some restaurants and a brewery. I would return here if I'm looking for an affordable place to stay in Durango. read more

I'm visiting Durango for the first time on the last weekend in October 2018. What a great place! I arrived after midnight and the owner set me up with late arrival instructions. When I arrived the property was well lit and very clean from the get go. My room was exactly as I booked and very reasonably priced. My stay was for 3 nights and the room was fresh and ready to go every afternoon when I arrived back at the property. The continental breakfast is well supplied and the owner makes sure your stay is going well and he's also a great tour guide of the Durango area. I will definitely stay here again. The room was clean. It was definitely small and could get very muggy if you didn't leave the air on (but it was loud). The TV channels sometimes just stopped working. It was about $100 a night and there's no real front desk after 10 pm. It's close and convenient to everything. Free parking, and it seemed nice and safe. We didn't spend much time in our room so it was totally fine for us. If you're just looking for a clean place to crash after being out all day then this is for you. read more

This was our first visit to the Inn. It had been recently remodeled and now had so many thoughtful conveniences and touches--microwave, refrig, a media charging station on the bedside table, huge HD TV, and best of all--a small bucket with cleaning rags so you could mop up small spills or wash your windshield without dirtying up the bath towels. After three stays at the Adventure Inn, it feels more like visiting family than lodging at a motel. Unpretentious and very comfortable, the owners Nigel and his wife, keep it simple but they do simple incredibly well. Best beds we slept in on our cross country trek. Clean and warm rooms. Clean rags for wiping down our filthy shoes (I always feel guilty using pristine towels for such nasty chores...) simply fresh breakfast bar with hard boiled eggs, bagels and toast, hot and cold cereal and decent coffee. (I'm a coffee snob...). And the owners clearly take care of their hard-working staff, who all seem to love their jobs and love their motel. We enjoyed a fantastic two-day stay at the Adventure Inn while visiting the Durango area. In planning our vacation, we knew we had a full day of activities, so we wanted to be sure to get a good night's rest. Reviews of other hotels in the downtown area mentioned difficulty sleeping due to noise, so we opted for a hotel that was away from the city center. We were not disappointed. First and foremost, outstanding customer service! The owner, Nigel, was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We enjoyed visiting with him about the hotel and the Durango area. And the staff, Joe and Crystal, were both very accommodating and friendly. Joe offered dinner recommendations (including discount coupons) and a map of town, and Crystal was very helpful with weather information when we departed. When we left, we felt like we were leaving friends! Nigel acquired the hotel within the past two years (formerly a Knights Inn) and has done an excellent job of sprucing it up, while maintaining the vintage vibe, including things like mid-century modern light fixtures, original tile and tub in the bathrooms. The bed was so comfortable and we slept so well that we had to ask about the brand of the mattress! Everything was clean, tasteful, comfortable, and convenient. Even though it is away from downtown, there is a trolley that runs between the hotel and downtown on a regular basis (although service is limited in winter). The Adventure Inn is a rare jewel in the low end of the motel world. We weren't sure what to expect but we arrived to a wonderfully clean and well-run motel where it was clear that maintenance of the property is also a priority. Check-in is touchless, in that your documents and keys are in an envelope by the lobby door, so you just pick up the envelope and go straight to your room. The room is fairly basic, though it does have the expected microwave and small refrigerator, but everything is wonderfully clean -- even the grout in the shower! Also, the sheets seem to be high quality and very soft and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again next time we go through Durango. read more

Clean! Clean! clean!! The owners greet you like you are staying at their home and they want you to have the very best experience in their town. They recommend places to go , and best times to go, and best method of travel. We were reluctant to stay far out of main town, but the little trolley is far better way to go into town, it drops you off right at your destination, comes every 20 minutes, you don't have to park and worry about having a drink and driving. The Adventure Inn beds are brand new, and very nice. The sheets they use are so soft and new ( no pilling like most places). Coffee is strong and hot, nice little breakfast room and once again, it is like they have invited you into their kitchen for hospitality . We have stayed in over 8 places in Durango, The Adventure Inn is the best of all. Please support them, they deserve to have the business vs the chain hotels( who treat you like you are bothering them by being there). read more

The gentleman behind the front desk was warm and friendly and eager to recommend places in the main historic district. He even gave me an additional discount since the price on the room had changed since I had booked it, even though I would never have known this. The room itself was clean and comfortable.
