My stylist and hair services: I visited Heather at Salon Modello as a first-time client and Atlanta…read morenewbie. She was very patient with me and had some great ideas about what we could do with my hair -- mostly because I'm always kinda' like, meh, do whatever you think would look good. The color was nice. The cut was great. Heather is skilled, knows what she's doing, and really made me feel like I was in good hands. I think my cut was ~$80, and my color plus foils was ~$290 -- a little pricey but it's quality work. I'll be going back. The shop and atmosphere: The salon is filled with art for sale by local artists, which I really appreciate. There are also offerings of beer, wine, coffee, tea, and water for customers -- I mean, it doesn't get much better than that. In terms of parking, there are spots on the street nearby, but the salon also shares a small private lot with the business next door (facing the salon, it's the driveway to the right) which is a lifesaver, especially for that busy area of town. The receptionist and others stylists all seems friendly, hip, and chill -- in a relaxed way and not a douchey way. I can totally imagine folks of all ages feeling welcome there. Again, I'll be going back. The only slightly odd thing about my whole experience was that the salon keeps your credit or debit card info on file to hold you accountable for last-minute cancelations, those who are atrociously late, and whatnot. And I totally get it -- it's a business and stylists lose money when that kinda' thing happens (which I'm sure is annoyingly frequent). However, it was still weird to hand over my financial information for them to store. At least it makes paying easier at the end of the appointment. TL;DR: Heather is great, shop is nice, there's free beer and parking, don't no-show like a jerk.

The new coloring to my hair along with the tap in extensions added such body that I was getting compliments all day. I especially love the versatility. I went from "glamorous" head shot appearance to pony tail- upswept hairdo in a manner of seconds. The hair extensions are human hair which feels so soft. I can't tell where my hair stops and the extensions begin.......which is the point because no one else could either. Count me as a repeat customer for life!

The salon itself is very stylish with chic decor and a variety of amenities to make you feel comfortable. Aside from the selections of drinks and adult beverages (which is always a plus!!), Brandi and Kharla are amazing hairstylist that take great pride in their work! I have been seeing Brandi for years and she is the ONLY person I allow to do my hair. I am completely natural and I have been for years. Brandi has taken such good care of my hair that it is now currently a little past bra-strap length when silk pressed. My hair is super healthy, strong, and full of volume! My hair is never fried or damaged after Brandi applies heat and that is the one thing I always worry about with other salons. I always receive compliments on my hair! I recommend Two Mane Chics Salon to EVERYONE! I even have a few coworkers who are now frequent clients. This salon is absolutely amazing and well worth the visit!

So, so, so happy with my experience at Star Salon. I was recommended by a friend and so glad I took…read moreher word for it. As an Atlanta-newbie, I was really missing my hairstylist back home and kind of skeptical that I would find another person I liked as much and that would do some of the crazy things I would ask of her. I mean, we had been seeing each other for years now and became friends. The relationship you have with your hairstylist is a special one. You have to trust each other. So, I asked around and asked around. After about a year, I stopped in Star Salon and scheduled my consultation with Jessica. I anxiously awaited my appointment, and to prepare, I took to Pinterest -- pinning everything I liked. As someone who is not afraid to experiment with cut or color, I really need to trust the person that is going to cut and color my hair. What if we aren't on the same page? What if she thinks I want something I don't want? Ahhhhhh. So, I showed up to my consultation with my Pinterest board at the ready. Jessica was was excited to see the pictured I pinned. Her taste completely meshed with mine, and she made me excited about scheduling my actual cut and color. We went over a bunch of ideas, and I left feeling confident that I was in good hands. And boy was I. She was booked for awhile, so if you are interested in scheduling an appointment, go ahead and get to it right away. I think it took 3 or 4 weeks for me to get the next appointment with her. If you are thinking about doing a consolation, you might want to schedule both so you don't have to wait any longer than you need to. We scheduled my appointment for an evening after work, about a three hour block of time. She had some great ideas, and I totally trusted what she wanted to do. And the final result was (is) perfect. I get so many compliments on my new do and color. I have had yellow hair for a couple years, and since leaving Florida, I had just let it grow out because I hand't found a new person. And I am so glad I found Jessica. She made my hair yellow again, and added some orange too, and I feel like me again. Like I'm supposed to be. And it doesn't hurt that everyone seems to love it too. Note: If you live in the area (Inman Park, Little 5), she offers a discount.

I got a cut, and dye done so it ended up a bit pricy. I really like how my hair turned out though! The staff were all nice and my hairdresser, Kelsey wouldn't let me go until my hair looked awesome.

On 12th, I received a text asking if I would like to move the appointment earlier in the morning. Because I was driving into the the city from out of town, I could not do that so I requested to keep the same 2 pm appointment. On the 17th about an hour before my appointment, I receive a text to go to a completely different address in a completely different city outside of Atlanta. Not only would I not be able to get there in time, I did not feel safe doing that since I did not even know who was texting. Plus from where I currently am on the road, it would be an hour there and back with traffic. I tell the person I would be late and they suggest 3 pm. I say, "No thanks. Let's just cancel. I have been on the road all morning. I don't have it in me to drive a hour there and an hour back plus traffic." At that point, I continue driving and head to a restaurant and try to figure out someone else to do my hair. Once I sit down, I realize I'd missed a few calls and texts that said, "I can do the suites then. Call me so we can work it out." Mind you, we are now 15 minutes out from my actual appointment. If she could have done the suites at 2 pm, why was I being asked to come to someone's house? I reply with, 'Hi. My apologies I was in traffic. Thanks for the call, however, I'm no longer interested. I've moved to plan B. I will say that I don't even know who I'm texting with, and yet I was being asked to come to someone's home. Maybe yours? I don't know because I don't even know who this is. But ultimately this amounts to a cancellation since services could not be rendered with the salon where I booked. And now saying the services could be performed at the salon after I canceled means that I was being inconvenienced for some reason... perhaps a personal matter you needed to attend to? I don't know. But it's not relevant. I booked a salon service on Highland in Atl at 2 pm. And that could not be delivered today." Eventually, she says, "Can I call you Every time I call it goes to voicemail I apologize. Are you able to call me. Give me a call. This is Mushiya." At that point, I'd moved on and did not have the space for another appointment for the remainder of very short visit to Atlanta. There's was nothing to say, so I chose not to respond had given a comprehensive reply. I'm not a new Damn Salon client. I'd been there multiple times many years ago. I stopped going many many years ago because of scheduling issues... stylists not showing up, moving appointments last minute, super late starts, finishing half the hair and having to come back the next day...and more overall unprofessionalism. Mushiya has a big personality, but when it comes to running her business... 0 stars.
