I set a same day appointment for 4. I got there at 4:05 and was seen at about 4:30, which was perfectly fine because I had to eat. Nancy was very kind and professional. She even was willing to negotiate prices with me over the style I asked for which was a braid pattern at the top and curls in the back. She worked until I was satisfied and made me feel very comfortable. There are no tvs or music playing, so bring your own entertainment. Great job! I found this place on yelp and definitly stood up to it's reputatuion. Nana did my braids, and she did an amazing job, and fast! There was a braid I didn't like and she fixed it with no problems. I got feed in cornrows, so it didn't take long, but even with that, she was still super efficient. I think this place is black woman owned which makes it even more amazing. The only downside (only reason my review wasn't 5 stars) is because Nana was a bit late and I had to wait about 20 minutes for her to arrive and open the shop, but that would not stop me from coming back. 6/25/19 I arrived to Mrs. Nancy's shop very last minute and no appointment. Her shop is by appointments only but I called desperately and to my surprise Mrs. Nancy answered her phone and told me she'd arrive in 40 minutes. As promised she did and I received exactly what I imagined! Beautiful and neat (smaller than last time install) lemonade braids. As I sit here today 7/1/19 writing this review today my hair looks so good that I'm still receiving compliments daily asking me who did my hair. RUN AWAY AS FAST AS POSSIBLE! I went to this salon solely off of what looked like decent reviews. The place I prefer to go to was booked through the week. I spoke with Nancy, sent her a picture of the style I wanted (twists) and told her that I specifically don't like my braids tight. She assured me that the braid at the root wouldn't be tight. I was charged $180 for the service ON TOP of having to buy my own Marley hair for about $60 (I was told I needed 8 packs; each pack was about $7/$8). As Nancy was braiding/twisting my hair. I kept asking her to please braid looser. She told me that the braids were actually loose but they felt tight because the braids were twisting on themselves once she got down to the twisting part. That made sense in my mind because I did notice that the braids did turn on themselves as she twisted. She told me the braids would loosen up in 2-3 days. I got my hair done on a Wednesday and went out of town in a Friday. My braids continued to remain tight and my scalp and head were throbbing. I did all the tricks to try and loosen up the braids and kept holding hope that they would get looser until I couldn't take it anymore. The last straw for me on top of the excruciating pain was all of the scabs, sores, welps, and bleeding all over my scalp. I started feeling them about 4/5 days after having the braids in. The next morning I could visually see my scalp reddened/bleeding. I immediately texted Nancy to tell her what was going on. She read the message and never replied! At that point, I sent her another message informing her that I was taking my hair down and would like a refund. She immediately called me and told me that I should have told her in 1-2 days that the hair was too tight. How would that make sense if she told me the hair would loosen up in 2-3 days? ANYONE who has EVER gotten their hair braided knows that the hair will eventually loosen up, but it shouldn't take a whole week or even get worse with time which is what happened with me. Nancy offered no apologies and also told me she would not offer me a refund or ANY type of resolution to my issue. Literally NO RESOLUTION. Not even to help me take down my style. Not even to give me a PARTIAL refund for taking out a style within less than a week of having it. This was all after denying the damage even after I told her I WAS MORE THAN WILLING TO GO BACK TO HER SHOP TO SHOW HER WHAT MY SCALP LOOKED LIKE. Now, as I start to take my hair down, I'm noticing small pieces of hair attached to scabbed scalp come out of my head. This is the WORST EXPERIENCE I've had ever. Please do not take this review lightly! I told Nancy that if she couldn't offer any resolution then I'd post a picture of my scalp along with this review and she said she didn't care. I guess the money (including the $30 tip I gave her) is more important than losing future business. IF YOU WANT TO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY TO LOSE YOUR HAIR, GO TO THIS PLACE. UPDATE #1: Right after posting this review, I received a barrage of harassing text messages from Nancy calling down evil upon me for posting my review. I received more interaction from Nancy for posting THE TRUTH then when I originally called her to see if there was something she could do for me. I was embarrassed to even post the one picture I posted but I do want to make it clear that if I get anymore harassing messages I will wait for my husband to get home so he can take a picture of the BACK of my head where I have EVEN MORE welps and scabs towards the nape of my neck. Do good business with people instead of being greedy and not caring about whose hair you ruin and people won't have to go to the internet to tell the TRUTH about you. May peace be with you. *** By the way, ALL PICTURES are of my GREASED scalp. I greased by scalped SEVERAL TIMES in hopes that I could find some relief. My scalp isn't dry, there's no dandruff (I've NEVER had dandruff and my scalp was freshly washed the day I got it done), the flakes that you see are from PEELING SCABS. UPDATE #2: So in addition to the harassing text messages I got from Nancy, she got blocked and I'm now getting "no caller ID" calls to my phone. This is how low someone will stoop because you expose them for their bad business practices. I don't know if I'm supposed to be scared or bullied into taking my review down but it's not happening. Please, everyone look at all of the glowing reviews I've given every other company for services I've received. I've NEVER wrote a 1-star review before. I take writing these reviews very seriously. If I can protect even ONE of you from being victim to this then I've done the right thing. UPDATE #3: Finally was able to sit through coming out and detangling my hair and I've lost more hair in 6 days than I do on my wash days. The hair is just sliding right out of my roots. Even though my hair turned out good, I won't be returning to this salon. First off, the salon was very hot- as if there was no AC. Next, my stylist was 30 minutes late and midway through my hair, she stopped and started doing someone else's hair. She had an associate stylist finish my hair, but that stylist did have her baby in the salon which made me feel a bit uncomfortable (Like I wanted to take care of the baby while she did my hair) ... Also, i'm sure they were talking about me in French as she did ask me "can you understand me" in French ( I can understand a bit, but did not respond). So I came into the salon and told her what I wanted and of course the price she quoted went up but she called another lady to help and stayed in the salon well into the early hours of the morning to make sure I got knee length gorgeous box braids that where done to perfection, they did not talk all Loud in my ear like most Braider with no regard to the client she didn't complain even though she had her son and he was sleepy. I found Nancy's shop while searching for knotless braids. I texted her a question about price and availability and she quickly responded. Two days later I arrived for my appointment. A young girl started the back and I had to question the size of the braids and if the braids would lay without gaps. Nancy had the young lady start over and when Nancy started the front, she made sure that my braids would lay right. I took my daughter to Nancy two weeks ago. We live in Tennessee but I wanted to get my daughter's hair done before leaving Atlanta. She accommodated us and took me in on a Sunday evening around 4pm and my daughter's box braid's were done in about 4 hours or so. She did an amazing job! My daughter said her braids didn't hurt.
