We were seated promptly and perused the menu. We ordered some coffee before placing our breakfast orders. We both ordered an omelet with my wife opting for the Tennessee Pride Sausage and cheese with fried potatoes and a biscuit. I ordered the Hickory Smoked Bacon and Cheese omelet with fried potatoes and wheat toast. Coffee was good and our friendly server, who told us this placed used to be Richard's Place that opened in 1984 before becoming Diner on the Square 6 years ago, was on it with refills. We both liked omelets...my wife liked the sausage and I liked the crispy bacon. Our server who has been working here for 36 years told my wife the biscuits are freshly made and my wife liked their biscuits. We both thought the potatoes were just OK and benefited from added salt and pepper...and some pieces were a bit underdone. After looking at the menu, my wife ordered the Southwest Avocado omelet with hash browns ($13.39) (they didn't have grilled potatoes because they were closed for the 4th of July our server informed us) and I tried their Eggs Benedict Arnold with hash browns ($13.29). My wife also ordered coffee. My wife loved her omelet commenting how fluffy the eggs were and how flavorful the sausage, fire roasted corn and black beans were. She also liked the fresh lime cream and avocado slices topping the omelet. The hash browns were meh. My eggs Benedict were good. While the hollandaise sauce tasted good, it didn't look as creamy as the better sauces I've had. The hash browns were not hot and didn't seem freshly prepared...it was our least favorite part of our breakfast. All in all, a good dining experience, although we'll avoid the disappointing hash browns the next time we visit. Breakfast for 2, with tip, came out to just over $37.

Northgate wasn't on her list of restaurants to try out but we were intrigued by the positive reviews. From the outside, Northgate was showing its age. The menu indicated they opened in 2002 and it probably needs some updating...including the prices on the menu. The parking lot was quite full...a great sign! Our first impressions were that service was friendly and there seemed to be quite a lot of regulars who dine here as we heard a lot of conversations indicating familiarity. We were told to sit anywhere and we chose a booth. My wife and I ordered coffee and water to start out...their coffee mugs are quite big and they are attentive with refills. I ordered the Western Omelet with home fries and wheat toast and my wife ordered the Farmer's Omelet with tater tots and wheat toast. Breakfast was good with generous portions...both of us took home leftovers which was still good the next morning. All in all, a very good breakfast place (they also serve lunch) that we would likely return to. We thought the value was there. Lunch for 2 less tip was just over $30. They have a surcharge for credit card payments.

This place seems more spacious and more updated than the other one we've been to. We both had coffee and water and my wife proceeded to order the Sunrise Skillet with home fries and wheat toast and I tried their CFS Railway. Service was quick and our breakfast was served in no time. My wife liked her breakfast, commenting how it was fresh, flavorful and good portions...she took home some leftovers since she couldn't finish it. My breakfast was equally good, with fluffy eggs and well prepared breaded cubed steak (not ground meat like I've tried at other places). I would've preferred the potatoes to be crispier. My husband got the steak bomb sub, son got a pepperoni Stromboli, daughter in law got the Sharon's Brie burger, grand daughter the child's cheeseburger and fries. Our apps were the garlic knots, mild wings (10) and fried cheese curds with sriracha ranch dipping sauce. Everything was okay, except that it took forever for everything to come out, compared to our first visit. Even our s'mores seemed to take forever. The quickest part of the whole visit was the bill . The fella that waited on us the first time was on point. Not saying that the young lady waiting on us was rude or anything, but I think she was trying to do too many things at once and some things just fell by the wayside. Last visit we came in on a Saturday as well, but perhaps some people are just better at multitasking? I don't know. This time, our bill was over $200 with tip, but we still brought home food again. My wife chose the 2 Eggs and a Biscuit with hash browns ($11.99) and I decided to try out their Eggs Benedict with house potatoes ($13.99). The half order of biscuits that came with my wife's meal was quite generous...more like a full order. So much so that she took home the eggs and hash browns for a later meal. She liked the fresh biscuits smothered in a savory, peppery gravy. The only thing she would improve on is perhaps adding some sausage meat in the gravy and it would be perfect. The eggs Benedict were well executed. Perfectly poached eggs atop a smoky and thick slice of Canadian bacon and English muffin, all swimming in a creamy hollandaise sauce. The only thing that would've made this better would be a thicker, more substantial English muffin. All in all, we liked our breakfast meal and will likely return. My wife had liver and onions and said it had a lot of veins in the meat. We wanted to get he bread pudding which had a wonderful description, but they didn't have any. We'll go back , but will try other entrees, and no onion soup. it seems like most other restaurants these days have a more modern flare for flavor, with exciting flavor bursts in meals. This place seems stuck in history a number of years back. Again not bad (except for my wife's entree) but boring. We saw some other entrees that we have hope for so we will give it another shot in a while.
