Kayla Beth Fields went with Mushroom & Swiss Burger with Fries and Ice Water (didn't like the taste) so went with Diet Coke. Saige & Deacon had Pancakes with Bacon. She has a child's root beer and he chose Chocolate milk. Their Paw Paw Lee had a breakfast Platter with Eggs, Country Fried Steak, Biscuits & Gravy with a huge cinnamon roll with Sweet Iced Tea & Water. Kayla treated us and Lee left tip!! Staff forgot to tell us that they were out of numerous items like buns, fries, O-rings...so ordered the Patty Melt -medium rare coleslaw as a side and a vanilla shake. The shake had a decent flavor but lots of ice crystals but was topped with whipped cream and a cherry. I have went to this place for years under the old owners (it was just okay then), but this was my first time coming back under the new owners and they have done a great job. It still has the original booths and that Old Florida charm, but they took out the center booths so you can really see the old counter area. The server was very attentive, and I was surprised that it wasn't busier. I went with my family for dinner, but I need to come back for a breakfast! As for the food, overall really good and you can definitely tell it's made from scratch, but it is SALTY. I loooove salty food, but it was a little too much even for me on some dishes. Also, don't get a glass of water because it is strong on the chlorine flavor. More details on the food: Meatloaf (5/5): absolutely outstanding meatloaf, way better than cracker barrel. It was very meaty, not a pile of bread like some meatloaves. The gravy was only okay though, extremely salty. Coleslaw (2/5): potential to be really good, but tasted like the chlorine water. Texas chili (3/5): a pretty solid chili, but all salt and onions. BLT on Texas toast (5/5): it's hard to mess up a BLT, but I was particularly impressed with the Texas toast because it was flavorful but not very greasy. A must stop in Ocala for breakfast! Coffee was delicious and hot! We had a wedding the night before so some hangover food was 100% necessary and the Silver Springs Diner fit that bill perfectly! Their hash isn't like any other I have had in diners before, thick cut corned beef with potatoes. It was fantastic. The eggs were cooked to perfection also. My girlfriend had the avocado toast and said it was one of the best she has had. Service was spectacular, and the place felt like an old time diner in the movies. We have lived around this area for years and never realized that this restaurant was here so we decided to try it today. It has a 50 style theme inside and was clean. I ordered the country fried steak and my wife ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich. I was going to order the fried chicken but the waitress said it takes a good 25 minutes to make so I went with the steak. The food came out fresh and was homemade. I tried all of it and it was good like grandma made when you came over. We then ordered the cinnamon roll to take with us but ended up eating it on the way home, it was very good. Went by to get some lunch and ordered the country fried steak from the menu. When it came out I was shocked because we had been there before and the food was ok. It was not only over cooked in the fryer it was a little burnt from the grill. Oil in the fryer is needing changed because of the dark color of the food. The mixed vegetables were so bland I just couldn't finish. Not enough white gravy to finish. Server was very good. All in all including tip it cost $20 for a burnt meal. Hope this is a one off. Arrived about 8am on a weekday morning and was promptly warmly greeted by our waitress-to-be. The dining room was extremely clean and pleasant and inviting. Our waitress wasted no time taking our drink and food orders. Time to receive our food was only about 10 minutes or less. Breakfast was very good with large portions. Today I had lunch at the Silver Springs Diner and it was amazing as always. High quality food, good service, and huge portions. My Patty Melt was a perfect medium rare, just as I requested. My friend's Club Sandwich was HUGE. We both chose Onion Rings to go with our meals and they were crispy and sweet, not greasy at all. We split the Garlic Cilantro Fries and they were outstanding. My wife and I stopped to check out the newly renovated restaurant, now called Silver Springs Diner. The seating area was clean and well-lit due to a string of small lights between the ceiling and upper walls which encompassed the room. The decor of the room reflected the 50's and 60's with photo/pictures of entertainers of that era, such as Elvis Pressley, Marilyn Monroe, etc. Old license plates were also hanging from the walls. Music of the 50's and 60's played creating the rock & roll atmosphere my wife and I experienced when we were teenagers. Our waitress, Brianna, was pleasant and efficent. Our biscuits and sausage gravy were delicious. Their menu had a variety of traditional American food, such as burgers, hot dogs, fish, chicken, meat loaf to only mention a few. Prices are reasonable. We plan returning to Silver Springs Diner with friends from our retirement community in the near future. read more

LOOK at what 33.00 gets ya! I've been so excited to check out the new Silver Springs Diner since the new owners took over in Oct. 2022! I called and placed an order for fish & chips and a patty melt. Picked it up after tipping 5.00 to the waitress and brought it home. The photos show what I got. :( Gooey undercooked fish and burnt chips that were pulled out of the fryer and immediately put into the box in a big greasy glob. The patty melt was actually a burned hamburger with a few onions, not on rye, no cheese and not grilled as shown on their own menu which nobody looks at for reference. I called, took it back, and what they gave me was worse than the first try. Patty melt burnt again, no cheese, a sliver of onion, and now on white bread absolutely soaked in butter and dripping, not grilled crispy. Onion rings and fries are still white, raw and uncooked. Fish REALLY burned. The manager herself told me that nobody is trained, they are thrown in and are learning on their own, with no owner around. Who does that after going through the trouble of re-decorating, hiring good decent people and buying food? I sat in the parking lot for 30 minutes while they made it over, listening to others complain as they were leaving. The owner was supposed to call me back but it's been over an hour and and half, nobody has. One star for the kindness and smiling faces! This could be an amazing place and everyone was really trying but there is noone supervising or teaching. It's the food that counts. We won't be returning. read more

I usually give restaurants a three strike/you're out policy but this place only got two. I ordered the hot chicken sandwich. The only thing on the plate that was decent were the mashed potatoes. The meat was dry and tasteless. The "homemade" gravy was horrible bouillon gravy. The wait staff were very not very good at their job, didn't seem to know what they were doing plus standing around talking to each other, while our food sat getting cold at the kitchen server. Second time had the Philly which was "hand cut and fresh", yea right, cut off of someone's tires, no seasoning whatsoever and one part per million peppers and onions on the sandwich.
