Been here a couple of years ago and we had to stop by again. Ordered the veggie omelette and platter waffle with eggs and sausage. Food was super comforting and service was excellent. Corina was our server and what a joy it was to be served by her. She is warm and friendly and I think a PERFECT example of how to treat people. This was our first visit but it won't be our last...you just gained two new regulars. Corina made us feel like we were family. She was very helpful and yet not intrusive at all. After church on an early Sunday, my wife and I opted to try this place out. We were initially made aware of this place during our initial orientation of the city while we were deciding on a relocation to the area. The guide pointed it out as a popular breakfast joint so we were eager to try it. Upon entering, the place looked cozy (ie tight space) but was around half full of diners. We were asked to seat ourselves. Once presented the menu, we ordered coffee and water before deciding what we'll order for breakfast. Having seen their menu beforehand, my wife ordered their sweet potato pancakes with tater tots and I ordered the Tri Omelet with spuds and wheat toast. Service was slooow, even though the place hadn't filled up yet. It took a while to get our coffee and much longer for our breakfast. My wife liked her pancakes which she couldn't finish and had to take home for a snack later. My omelet was good, although I would've preferred more bacon than ham. All in all, food was good but the slow service took away from the experience. Breakfast for 2 came to just over $41 with tip. read more

Everyone found something delicious and creative! I had the slaw burger with a beyond burger and a gluten free bun. UNBELIEVABLE! LONG REVIEW, BUT PLEASE READ. I've been a regular at this diner for quite some time. The food itself is what I'd consider subpar to average; however, as a vegan living in Ocala with very few hot vegan options, I considered this place a diamond in the rough. While the food was never anything to brag about, the customer service had always been pleasant -- until today. I ordered an Impossible burger and noticed it was pink in the middle, so I politely sent it back. Before realizing the issue, I had already added vegan mayo to the burger, cut it in half, and mixed ketchup and vegan mayo on the side in preparation to eat. When my food returned, it was clearly the exact same burger simply cooked longer, with the same fries and even my ketchup/mayo mixture still on the plate. I was expecting fresh food. At that point, I expressed that I didn't feel comfortable with it from a sanitation standpoint, considering it had gone back and forth through multiple hands, and my fries were now cold. The waitress took the plate back, and shortly after another woman brought my food out in a to-go container and stated, "I'll comp your food, but I'm not fixing you anything else." Completely confused, I asked why. I explained that my concern was professionalism, sanitation, and the fact that my food was now cold. Her response was, "Is it not pretty enough for you?" Before I could even respond, she grabbed the plate, marched to the register, and repeatedly announced, "I'm going to comp this!" The waitress later returned looking visibly embarrassed and apologized. As my brother finished his meal, I quietly sat there in complete disbelief. As we were leaving, another waitress kindly said, "You're always welcome here, honey." Unfortunately, after today's experience, I will not be returning. Service from the server was great but whoever was in charge or the owner is not a good person. I just wanted two hot dogs. I was told it was $5 for an extra hot dog. They bring me out one bun with two hot dogs on it (don't really see how that got confused but whatever) and I asked for a bun and got one, but after looking at my bill they charged me $3 for the bun. I wouldn't have even left this review if whoever was in charge would've came out and talked to me but they hid in the back the whole time the sweet server was trying to explain. You know you're in the right place when you walk inside almost every table is taken and everyone looks at you and knows you're not local. Staff was so friendly. We were seated immediately and the smell of freshly made pancakes and waffles was overwhelming. Coffee was excellent and breakfast was even better. Thick Belgian Waffles with eggs, bacon and topped with blueberries. So good, I wasn't leaving anything on the plate. Classic diner with plenty of choices. It was pouring rain when I ran into the Ocala Downtown Diner at 1:55 pm on a Sunday afternoon. I quickly realized that they close at 2 pm on Sunday and when I apologized to the waitress and told her I would leave, she assured me that it was no problem and I believed her to be sincere. I even offered to take my order to go but she told me to relax and enjoy. Enjoy I did.... I got an unusual burger called the Juicy Lucy. This burger was cooked to order and topped with Sauerkraut, Pickles, Juicy Sauce & Swiss Cheese ...it was really good! While my burger and fries were very good I have to say that the staff there was exceptional. They were all busy trying to clean and close up but they could not have been nicer or more welcoming. Very old-time diner style, very friendly staff. Going for something a little different, we drove into downtown to give the Ocala's Downtown Diner a try. We both had the hearty breakfast: eggs, potatoes, toast, choice of meat and one had pancakes, one had biscuit/gravy. Not bad at all. Very quick service at 10 am. Not too crowded. II can see where parking could get tricky if it was slammed, but there were a few customers who walked up, so maybe not so bad. read more

This used to be one of my favorite spots in Ocala -- the food is still excellent. The cheeseburgers are the best in town and their gluten-free fried chicken & waffles are outstanding. That said, the service has been disappointing lately. On a recent visit I planned to dine in and bring an extra meal to a coworker, but the fish sandwich couldn't be made gluten-free. I switched to a burger to-go, and the server told me they don't allow takeout orders from seated customers, so they'd have to bring it out for me to box. I ordered, tipped, and left feeling surprised by the policy and the interaction. I gave them another chance the next week, on a Monday, and sat for ten minutes at 1:00 PM with only three tables occupied while staff were rolling silverware with their backs to guests. I've worked in restaurants -- I get side work -- but that's usually done around busier shifts, not while customers are waiting to be welcomed. After waiting, I walked out. The food is excellent and keeps me coming back, but the front-of-house needs improvement. Simple fixes -- clearer takeout procedures, better guest greeting, or counter ordering during short staffing -- would make a big difference. I hope they address it because the kitchen deserves front-of-house service that matches the quality of the food. read more

Just stopped by with my family and aim having a fantastic meal. As a group we got two waffles, bacon, eggs, toast, and omelette, and washed it down with Coke products and a serving a milk. I loved my meal, and i wiped my plate clean. We're nearing four empty plates, and four smiling visitors. The service was fast and friendly, and our food was served hot and quick. The place is rather full but their managing the customers well and no one has been forced to stand or wait in the door. Also the conversation is mild and other families have shared smiles as they passed by. Erin has been amazing and I'd be happy to sit in her section again. Traditional breakfast anywhere else in the world of restaurants includes the potatoes, not here....$.99 extra. Would you like cheese with your scrambled eggs, sure $.99 and 2 slices of American cheese are slapped on top of your eggs. Biscuits seem microwaved to a rubbery texture. One pancacke was burned and the burned and hidden. Bacon is 90% fat (low quality). Everyone has different tastes, that's understandable, but $33 for mediocre at best is not acceptable to me. read more

You know the food is good when you walked into a diner and there is a table of 6 police officers having their breakfast. So I was in the right spot. I sat at their bar since I was alone and the place was 75% full so I didn't want to steal a table away from anyway. Service was quick to come over and ask what I would like to drink, offering a water to go along with it. My server also quickly asked me if it was my first time in which just told me that they have a lot of regulars. I took my time to review the menu and told my server that I would let her know when I was ready so that she could take care of the other patrons without worrying about me. They have an early bird special if you're their before 8am that was perfect for me to take back to the hotel for Ben. I got the sausage, mushrooms and cheese omelet. Amazing atmosphere. Amazing service. Amazing food. The patrons and staff were kind and friendly, and it gave off a very homey vibe. I felt like I was at a reunion with family. I truly can not get enough of this place. I'm a vegetarian and usually struggle to find options. This place has two menus, one dedicated entirely to people who are vegan and gluten-free, meaning I had so many options available. Was a little tricky deciding haha but I plan to come back many times to try it all! They have both impossible and beyond "meat" It's truly one of the best places I've ever been in terms of inclusivity for plant based eaters, and the food is to die for! I came here with my Dad after a hair appointment. We wanted breakfast somewhere different and for the 10+ years my Dad lived in Ocala we never went here. It was really good. Everyone was very friendly and took our order right away. The place was cute and cozy, kinda retro. The menu was awesome, there were so many different options and for all kinds of diets out there from vegan, vegetarian, to regular diets. Even though they looked very busy, they had a full complement of waitstaff that made dining a seamless process. The food was delicious and the staff could not have been nicer. My only regret was that the food was so good, I had no room for the list of baked goods available. This little diner is dynamite! Found it after visiting the Ocala Hospital, and what a welcoming place. The service was warm and inviting, the food was varied including veggie and vegan options, and delicious, hot, fresh, and well made. After almost a month we visited again and the waitress remembered me and asked after me. That's the way to build regular customers! I had the not your momma's burger which was excellent, and we have had eggs and breakfast potatoes that were also perfect. I can't wait to go back and try more of what they offer!
