Continuing with our effort to try out different breakfast joints after church service on Sunday mornings, I suggested Northgate Diner to my wife after expanding our search north of our church. Northgate wasn't on her list of restaurants to try out but we were intrigued by the positive reviews. From the outside, Northgate was showing its age. The menu indicated they opened in 2002 and it probably needs some updating...including the prices on the menu. The parking lot was quite full...a great sign! Our first impressions were that service was friendly and there seemed to be quite a lot of regulars who dine here as we heard a lot of conversations indicating familiarity. We were told to sit anywhere and we chose a booth. My wife and I ordered coffee and water to start out...their coffee mugs are quite big and they are attentive with refills. I ordered the Western Omelet with home fries and wheat toast and my wife ordered the Farmer's Omelet with tater tots and wheat toast. Breakfast was good with generous portions...both of us took home leftovers which was still good the next morning. All in all, a very good breakfast place (they also serve lunch) that we would likely return to. We thought the value was there. Lunch for 2 less tip was just over $30. Fantastic : starting with our server, Jamie, who made his feel at home the second we sit down and continued, didn't tell the last minute when we left. The food was excellent my partner had a breakfast, and I had the chicken with cheese and mushrooms, and it was absolutely delicious. There was a wait which simply proved that it was cooked in the kitchen and didn't come out of a bag shipped from Afghanistan. Defrost didn't thrown on the plate. The atmosphere in the restaurant is just absolutely amazing. It takes you back to the days when cafés were cafés. The relics on the wall are not the ones you find made in Japan and shipped in for decor. The real handmade type relics or hand-painted. The place is very patriotic and just a pleasure to be there. Everyone in the place seem so friendly that even though it was our first visit, we felt like it was home. I would recommend this establishment to absolutely anybody traveling through the area. I know it won't be my last trip. In fact, I'd say it will be my first of many. read more

We were hauling cattle that day and passed this little place. Deciding to go back for lunch after we dropped the cows off. So glad we did! Our waitress was the funniest, sweetest girl ever! This diner is delicious it's just up the street from my home. The waitresses were very friendly and nice. The ambiance is nice and relaxing. You get a lot of food with the price you pay. Classic good diner food. My mother and I will be coming here often! Will have to try something new next time I come in! read more

This is a down home southern hole in the wall diner ! If you love those, you won't be disappointed here. We love The North Gate ! I regularly grab breakfast here. I even order it to go sometimes when I'm in a pinch for time. As for lunch, the fried pork chops are DELICIOUS and I also love the beef tips and rice. I've been here several times and each time it was a 2 star meal or less. Previously Hunters, Northgate moved into this old, tired building without a remodel or change of any kind. Ripped chairs & booths, tables so old they are actually worn out and an old dirty rug is exactly what was previously here. They claim they make scratch food but that is not the case. So far the only thing that is home made is the puddings and the pies and they are always runny. An omelet I had was raw in the center and I found their idea of omelet making deceiving. They actually mix the frozen veggies into the egg batter so it's not too obvious they are not fresh. Their biscuit is the oddest thing I've ever tasted. It was made of corn meal!! Do not eat the butter packets that are left out in a bowl on the table for weeks or longer at a time. They're obviously spoiled. These are all old school practices and this business really needs to come into the 21st century. Oh! And that large colorful sign in the window that claims they have the best burger in town? Ignore it as it is false advertising. Then you need to head down to the Northgate Diner. The First time i went was with a couple co-workers for lunch. We had been working at the Florida State Fire College and they kept talking about the Northgate Diner... so i HAD to try it out. I was so glad that i did. LUNCH: They had fried liver & onions on the menu. I hadn't had liver in a long time, so I decided to get it. Let me tell you.. PERFECTLY COOKED.. it was tender and flavorful. With a side of Fresh Vegetables... It definitely left a great impression. BREAKFAST: Our last day of work was on a Sunday, we decided to hit the diner.. Needless to say NOBODY left hungry. First time trying this place. I sooo wanted it to be good bc I enjoy eating out. I would give 0 stars if I could. I had the steak and fries. The steak had no seasoning and was TOUGH as nails and gristly. The fries were old and not even lukewarm. The salad was shredded iceberg lettuce, very blah. My husband had fish, at least it was hot. His fries were also old. As far as ambience if you're into that, this place was dirty and lackluster. I usually give it 3 times before I won't go back. My husband and I have been frequenting this Northgate Diner for years. It was our go to family spot. I'm not sure if the ownership has changed but the servers sure have. I no longer feel comfortable taking my grand children there. My eight-year-old grandson pointed out that our server probably didn't have panties on! It used to be more family oriented. Burgers are the best. We go weekly for the delicious food. Service has always been good. We started going since 2019 regularly.

Was so disappointed in my meal. Ordered burger medium well done. Was raw had to send it back. Onion rings were dripping with grease. Inediable!! When redone burger was cooked but onion ring put back in grease for even more oil! Was a terrible mea!! Need someone who can cook!!! No excuse for the onion rings two times. I love this place, especially their omelettes for breakfast. I generally choose tater tots, and an English muffin as sides. And coffee. They've got very good coffee. Not fancy but a good hometown restaurant. It is my go to spot for breakfast away from home. The waitresses are friendly, and the food is served hot. Love it, love it, love it. When friends come in from out of town, this is where we go for breakfast. Prices are reasonable. How about these guys.... Where do I begin? Led here by YELP and so pleasantly surprised by the hospitality and the portion sizes. Our waitress, Michelle, overheard it was my birthday so she really went the extra mile to have my 7 year old involved in setting up a piece of cake with a candle and she sang happy birthday. She was super sweet with my 18 month old too.... She really showed us Southern hospitality and it was endearing and refreshing. Food was delicious, I had a spinach mushroom omelette I couldn't finish and both the children maxed out on Mac n Cheese (so creamy). Hubby had country fried steak and is still raving about it. Tried this little diner out for lunch.. great food at great prices! I had the $7.99 lunch special which included a Salisbury steak, two sides, and a drink. Steak was tender and packed with flavor-topped with gravy and mushrooms. Mac and cheese was top notch. The sweet potato fries were amazing, though I wish there were more on the plate! We asked the people from the zip line where to go for lunch and they said this diner! Well it is nothing to look at from the outside in a strip with a gas station BUT looks can be desceiving. Locals do go here and it is not easy to find. The menu is half breakfast items served all day but our waitress said the pancakes would be on the same grill as hamburgers were cooked by now (12:30 pm), so OK there! We ordered 1/2 lb hamburger, Cuban hot sandwich, triple decker club and tuna melt- all were good! Service was friendly and food came out quickly. How there is no normal fast food around like McDonalds, Burger King etc I dont know but this diner offered good food at a good price! read more

Boy, the food is good here, the prices are really fair, the servers are happy and right on top of stuff, and the tables are clean and not too close together. Their cook can make eggs and not burn 'em-and even do a real omelet (eggscellent!)-and knows how to grill pork chops and not dry them out. This place is pleasantly simple, modest and functional... just the kind of place that should call itself a "diner." I take off a star because the bathroom needs a pretty good scrubbing (I just don't think your boots should stick to the floor). Anyway, don't let that stop you, just go at home. The food's what you come here for, so just come and get yourself stuffed at a darn fair price.
