Reported it to San Diego police ( what a joke) also to sign in place they seem to care less! They need to have security partrol the place not just sitting in their thumbs in the guard shack! The cottage can accommodate up to six guests, but our stay was just for me, my wife, and our wheaten terrier. This review reflects our experience specifically as cottage guests, since those staying in RV spaces may have a very different experience. It was also our first visit to this RV resort, and we did not participate in many of the on-site activities. That said, we truly enjoyed our stay. The resort was very clean, the staff was welcoming and engaging with guests, and we appreciated how dog-friendly the property is. The location is also excellent -- conveniently close to the I-5 freeway, nearby walking and bicycling trails, downtown Chula Vista, and the newly built Gaylord Resort property less than half a mile to the south. While amenities such as the pickleball courts, swimming pool, hot tubs, and putting green looked inviting, we did not personally use them during this visit. We ate dinner at the on-site café both evenings, and every dish we ordered was reasonably priced, generously portioned, and served fresh and hot. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout. We tried the Baja Burger, Fish & Chips, Steak & Frites, Cheesesteak, crinkle-cut fries, pretzel buns, and churros -- all were delicious, and we would happily order them again without hesitation. Our bayside cottage was clean, well maintained, and offered beautiful views of the wildlife preserve between the resort and San Diego Bay. The two-bedroom layout provided more than enough space for us and our medium-sized dog. We especially enjoyed the fire pit, along with the covered first-level patio and uncovered second-level patio facing the bay. Although we didn't use the barbecue grill, it was spotless and clearly ready for guests to use for grilling steaks, burgers, hot dogs, or anything else they wished. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would absolutely consider returning for another local staycation.

Legitimately the absolute WORST singers we have ever heard. Think screeching drunk idiots yelling into a microphone while you are trying to enjoy your fire pit and relax. The most frustrating part was that we called staff and were told that since quiet hours didn't start until 11:00 p.m., nothing could be done regardless of how loud it was. The party also appeared to include excessive underage drinking, which was concerning at a family resort. We came here expecting a fun, relaxing family vacation, not two nights of disrupted sleep. It's unfortunate because we enjoyed our first stay, but this experience definitely makes us think twice about returning.

Camping at Carlsbad State Beach is unmatched…read more This campsite offers the best of both worlds: city life + beach life. It sits right on the ocean bluff with two sides, bluff-side (oceanfront) and streetside. Obviously bluff-side is preferred, but staying on the streetside is still a treat. A few things I love about this camping experience: - They allow all forms of camping. Tent, RV, van, etc. - The site has clean bathrooms and warm showers. Just be sure to purchase tokens at the front for the shower. - Dog friendly! You can bring your pet along but they must be on leash and aren't allowed on the beach. - Carlsbad has the most captivating sunsets, and if you're lucky, you'll even see a few dolphins. Truly the most memorable 32nd birthday activity with all my favorite people.

We were on vacation from AZ on 6/2, driving N bound on Carlsbad blvd. We pulled up to the gate and the police turned on their flashers! When I asked the park attendant why, they irritatedly said 'tell it to them', pointing at the police. As we pulled around to stop, the female attendant shrieked and pointed at us, as if we were criminals! The officers were literally sitting in their vehicle, WAITING for this to occur, because it is ILLEGAL to turn LEFT here, even though you are IN THE LEFT TURN LANE, with a GREEN arrow directing you to TURN LEFT! I was astonished at this absurd intersection and the way it MISDIRECTS drivers! I protested to the officer, who said there was a sign posted earlier in the median which stipulated 'U Turn ONLY' (NOT above the traffic light where it might actually have been seen)! I indicated I had NEVER encountered a left turn green arrow at an intersection, with an available roadway, where you were NOT allowed to turn LEFT ON A LEFT GREEN ARROW. I indicated that the generally accepted understanding across the USA is that if you are in the LEFT turn lane, and you get a left green arrow, you turn LEFT! I asked the officer to issue a warning only, he said he could not, it was 'zero tolerance' due to the volume of accidents at this intersection going into South Carlsbad State Beah Park! Their CONFLICTING traffic directions at this intersection is CAUSING these 'accidents'! And there will be more! Now I have fines, possible points on my license. TOURISTS BEWARE! This is a racket! It is also DANGEROUS!

One room had a queen-sized bed, another very small room had a bunkbed (2 beds total), there was a couch in the main area that folded out and there was a large loft space with what looked to be a queen-sized mattress. Note, you couldn't stand up in the loft (perhaps small kids could - I'm 5'2" and could not). Kitchen had decent sized fridge, stove, microwave, toaster, pots, pans, and utensils. Outside was a propane grill (worked great), a fire pit with 4 Adirondack chairs and tables and an umbrella covered picnic table with I believe 6 chairs. There was also a stand up bar height table by the fire pit. And I almost forgot the best part - one bathroom with sink, toilet and shower. Linens provided (bed and bath). Nearby activities: Very easy to travel to all the sites from this location (beaches, parks, zoo, etc.) SafetyI felt very safe staying here as a female. Food & drinks: They have a cafe of sorts on site but we did not check it out. Of note: Some of the outer perimeter tent campsites were right off the freeway. My cousin who stayed there said it was a little bit noisy. Where we were DC203 was very quiet and peaceful.

It came fully stocked with linens, towels, and even beach towels, which was a nice touch. The kitchenette with a full-size fridge was perfect for our needs, and outside we had a gas grill, a table with an umbrella that seats six, plus a fire pit with four Adirondack chairs -- great setup for relaxing evenings. The air conditioning worked really well, which we definitely appreciated. The bathroom was on the smaller side, and the sink never got hot water, but the shower and kitchen hot water worked just fine. Honestly, having a private bathroom at all was a big plus compared to walking to the shared comfort station. One thing to note: there's no daily housekeeping like a hotel, so you'll need to tidy up after yourselves during your stay. The campground itself is clean, well-maintained, and gated, so it feels safe and not open to random foot traffic. There are tons of amenities -- pool, playground, convenience store, jumping pillow, dog park -- though we didn't use many since we spent most of our time at the beach. They also offer firewood delivery for a fee, which is super convenient. We had read some reviews about noise from other campers, but that wasn't our experience at all. Everyone seemed respectful of quiet hours, and it was peaceful during our stay. Beds were comfortable -- definitely beats sleeping on the ground or an air mattress. Our campsite was a nice layout, we had our picnic table right near where the RV got parked. I saw some had the table more off to the side in some bushes. Multiple hiking trails started at different points around the campsite. Stars were gorgeous at night!!

If you enjoy dark sky or full moon, Anza- Borrego Desert State Park is the place to go!…read moreLast June, we ventured to Borrego Palm Canyon Campground for camping, expecting a dark sky and starry night but instead encountered a full moon that turned the desert into a magical scene. The moonlight created an almost mystical atmosphere, making the desert feel like another planet. We set up our tent beside a stone ramada with a table and fireplace. The cleanest toilet we've ever seen was just steps away, which was a luxurious touch. Since it wasn't peak season, typically from March to April when wildflowers are in bloom and again from autumn onward, the park was quieter. We checked in with the DIY machine at the entrance of the campground, and friendly ranchers were around to offer help if needed. One rancher suggested that if we wanted to hike, we should start early and finish by 8:30am before the temperatures began to rise. ( Just a tip: download a campsite map beforehand because there's no internet service in the park) The desert, lit up by the moon, looked like something from another world. Rugged rock formations and the wide open space felt never ending, and with the moonlight highlighting the cool details of the landscape. The desert was so quiet and empty, It felt like the world had melted away, leaving just us and the serene, mystical surroundings.. Next morning, the heat cut our hike short with our cat, and it was a bit of an ordeal. Cats can be more sensitive to the heat, and she had a breathing issue and gasping for air right after we started hiking. We had to quickly rushed back to the car to help her cool down. So just be aware if you plan to bring your pets along. Despite this, that night remained a magical mix of peace and wonder, a cherished experience that I'll never forget.
