After my X-ray Dr. Juliet Ebrahimian went over everything with me thoroughly, I was even able to get the extra procedures done right away. My teeth cleaning went great with the hygienist and starting the crown procedure wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. I'm so happy I came here! I'm now a few days out from the first part of the major work I needed to get done and I'm so pleased with the results! Not only do my teeth look great, but I can tell the quality is just really good and they feel very strong. All the staff are very kind and professional and you can tell they care about their work. I wish I had been given something for the pain after this procedure but after 24 hours I actually was fine anyways. I also wish my aftercare instructions had been more explicit or maybe written out, but they gave me an email to send my list of follow up questions to and they were answered promptly. I am somebody who doesn't love going to the dentist. I get nervous, I get anxious, I feel solidly about six years old despite approaching middle aged. The staff here is always clear and accommodating, explaining each step of the process as we move forward. The space is clean, my appointments are timely, and I feel comfortable coming here despite what can often be an uncomfortable experience. So I needed a tooth pulled that had a root canal on it and was broken in two places ( what can i say...I'm a grinder). I am a HUGE baby when it comes to pain/discomfort etc. and having a back tooth pulled was frankly terrifying. I gotta tell you - after getting through the numbing shots (challenging) - IT WAS A BREEZE. Im sure i gave the dentist a run for her money ...yes I may have said an expletive or two and had a death grip on the chair. She was so kind, didn't take it personally and listened patiently to me having a minor freak out. ( I told you I'm a big baby when it comes to any type of discomfort) The dental hygienist was a total rock star too. He kept me calm, relaxed and they were right -once the shot kicked in - I felt no pain. Frankly, Im a little embarrassed by my behavior but it felt like they see these everyday. Brenda, at the front was a delight as well and checked on me this morning. I am in NO PAIN, NO SWELLING and no lie, I forgot I had a tooth pulled this morning when I woke up. Even yesterday - two aspirin and i forgot about it. Granted, I followed their aftercare instructions. Sorry for the super long review but i just felt i had to go the extra mile on this one. I'll start by saying that I am aware that it is embarrassing as a fully grown adult to still cry at the dentist. I've always been terrified of tooth stuff due to having a sadistic, scary dentist as a kid. I told Silverlake Smiles my concerns in advance when booking my appointment, and basically just asked for a gentle touch if we were going to do anything painful. Now - I DID see a review saying that the staff wasn't very good at handling anxious patients, but since it was drowned out by such overwhelmingly positive feedback, I figured maybe that was a fluke or that person was just salty. But as someone who really does not enjoy leaving negative reviews, and wants to love every doctor I see, I felt compelled to write this for anyone who experiences dental anxiety. This clinic might be fine for normies - but if you're scared of the dentist, it might not be for you. The staff are WONDERFUL, especially the assistants - so lovely, sweet, assuring, informative... initially I felt really at ease and relieved. But Dr. Ebrahimian did not make eye contact with me while speaking and was very cold. There were several times when working on me where she'd nick my gums or cause a bit of pain and impulsively I'd jolt or say "ah", and she seemed super annoyed. She never said "sorry" or "oops" or "you okay?" or anything, she just stayed completely silent. Essentially the vibes I got were "god what a baby". The big kicker - and reason I am writing this review - was she did not warn me before putting a novocaine shot in my mouth that was the most painful novocaine shot I've ever gotten. Dentists in my adult life have always taken care when having to do something like that to talk me through everything they're doing. They go to great lengths to make that injection as gentle as possible. Dr. Ebrahimian did not. It came out of nowhere (she didn't even say it was a needle when she put it in my mouth), and it HURT. A LOT. I had tears in my eyes. And she basically didn't react except to say "I'll let that kick in" and she walked away and just left me there feeling like a child trying not to cry. Not fun. And look I'm not asking her to be my mother or anything. She's a professional there to do a job - but she's also a doctor, and it feels really weird when your doctor doesn't acknowledge any pain or discomfort you're in, doesn't explain procedures beforehand to an anxious patient, doesn't give any reassurance, and doesn't even make eye contact. Maybe she had a bad day. It happens. Maybe people who aren't afraid of the dentist might find her reactions perfectly reasonable. But bedside manner is extremely important to me, and since I'm such a scaredy cat, I don't want to risk being treated that way again. So I don't think I'll be going back. read more

Whatever you do please do not go to this dental office. They are highly incompetent. What you especially shouldn't do is get Invisalign from here. The dentist and her staff have zero clue what they are doing. They know they are wrong and liable which is why they referred me to an orthodontist and claim they will cover the cost. Do not go here. They ask you to waive your rights to their disclosure of your medical information. The office manager was super rude to me. She told me to leave when I asked them if they could remove the portion that requires that I give consent to release my information. She tried to convince me orally that that is NOT how they do things. I informed her that in contract law, oral promises mean nothing when compared to a written contract. The office manager made a choice to not treat me without talking to the dentist. She said it would be super hard to get a copy of that form and change it. The Dentist came over and printed it out easily. I cannot trust an office that hires such a manipulative office manager. read more

The dental care here is fine and everyone is very nice, but the prices are shockingly outrageous! They massively over-bill and overcharge. I only came here because they are 5 min from my house and I needed an emergency appointment for a cracked tooth. Never again! So I needed 3 crowns. I was told the cost AFTER insurance was $4,500. What?! I have Principal PPO and Silverlake Smiles is in-network with them. I asked if they offer discounts on the amounts that insurance did not cover (since they are in-network!) and they literally said "no because we get audited and we will get in trouble with the insurance company if we don't charge you the full amount." That made no sense to me so I said my other dentist always discounted the uncovered amounts. They told me he's not supposed to do that and he should be careful. LOL. Later, I received documentation from Principal on the estimated coverage for the crowns and they clearly documented that about $2500 of those charges were "PROVIDER NON-BILLABLE" and not the patient's responsibility. Anyway I returned to my tried and true favorite dentist of all time DR. ELMASSIAN!!! He provides the exact same (if not better) care for a fraction of the cost. Highly, highly recommended. I also showed him what Silverlake Smiles bills for the same procedures and he was also shocked. He has offices in DTLA and Pasadena. Go there instead! read more

The start of this review is what I wrote for Dr. Ebrahimian before she started her own practice (Silverlake Smiles), in which I followed her to because she's worth it! (This is from May 2022) After 6 years and 2 bad dental office experiences later... my Romeo molar got its crown found Dr. Juliette! LOL Without being punny, this seriously was the easiest and best experience. What took the first dentist 3 bad temporary crowns and an even worse 4th permanent crown, my tooth was left exposed. Tried 2 more dentists office and I just didn't like the unprofessionalism of those offices. I found Dr. Juliette Ebrahimian and she literally fixed the issue in 2 short visits. She place the new crown on so quickly and efficiently and even went the extra mile and had me bring my mouth guard in so she could adjust it. Definitely sticking with her!
