Enjoyed our stay, room and beds super comfortable! Pet friendly and all staff friendly and welcoming. We had an issue with the bathroom and they responded quickly. There is a restaurant on site but also so many places within walking distance. It takes you off I-5 so be prepared to see farmlands until you arrive. Able to go to Silver Falls State Park for hiking and to the Oregon Garden! We had a room with a full kitchen and everything provided, pots, dishes, utensils. We even did laundry a block away. Would love to come back!

Check in was smooth and the new manager was very kind. Unfortunately, the choice to eat at the on-site restaurant soured our experience. To start, we sat ourselves prompted by the "please seat yourself" sign. The hostess failed to see we had arrived and after waiting some time we had to go tell her we were there. She quickly took our order and brought us water. Then we waited, and waited, and waited some more - our food took over an hour to arrive. In this time we had to ask three different times for water refills. While the hotel is nice, don't waste your time eating there.

A very quaint cut space in a gorgeous little town. The exterior is very attractive, and the rooms has large grand beautiful wood furniture. I think all the rooms have at least a half kitchen, ours has a full. They just added a resteraunt with a full bar. A very reasonable choice as this town has limited rooms.

Comfy cozy room, feels like Grandma's house:)

The rooms are close to 200 a night and all we got was granola, yogurt and fruit? That's usually the starter, with a main item to come. We got one English muffin to split! So, if a breakfast person, I would not recommend this place.

Like many first-tier B&Bs, the Adams House has charming rooms, polished hardwood floors, an…read moreexquisite outdoor garden and pagoda, and sumptuous breakfasts, along with evening snacks and silver tray coffee and tea service in the morning. It's a historic landmark house in a picturesque mid-Willamette Valley location East of Salem and within easy striking distance of the Cascade Mountains as well as many of Oregon's prime winery destinations. It's not even that far to the coast, for that matter, or to marvelous state parks like Silver Falls, one of Oregon's most popular for locals and outside visitors alike. The downtown is quaint, walkable, and classy, with excellent shopping, coffee, and dining out options (esp. the Silver Grille). And of course the owner, Nancy K., is approachable, animated, and articulate, making you feel smarter and more sophisticated simply by being in her presence. The rooms upstairs (there are 3) have distinctive flair and unique features: Sara Jane's room has a wonderful Victorian "fainting couch," which is comfortable enough to fall asleep on (trust me on this). Eleanor's room has an octagonal turret in the tiled bathroom which lets light pour in and reflect off the pale white walls and porcelain surfaces. If you haven't taken an actual reclining bath in a long while, this is your chance. But for all these amenities - and they are indeed impressive - the most remarkable feature of Adams House is the library and LP record collection, which Nancy has meticulously organized in one of the second floor rooms and made available for guest use. I spent several hours perusing the book shelves on my first visit, reading, browsing, and jotting down titles and authors of interest. It was like being in a bookstore. On my second visit, I ventured into the music collection, starting with a beautiful recording from 1955 of Glenn Gould's "Goldberg Variations" by J.S. Bach. Inspired by the experience, I went back to the shelves and located a recording from the 1980s by a Czech pianist of Beethoven's "Diabelli Variations." By the time I was done listening, breakfast was ready. What a nice way to start the morning, don't you think? Visiting Silverton and staying at Adams House is not so much "stepping back" in time as it is "stepping sideways" in time: moving horizontally away from the routines of your regular days and nights and experiencing, however briefly, an alternative universe: one in which music still plays on records, books still are written on paper, and tea is still served on silver in fine china. It's easy to appreciate - and hard to leave behind when you return to the road. I doubt that you will be disappointed by your initial visit. You'll likely return in the future, just to make sure that it wasn't just a dream, after all.

My brother, who lives on the edge of the park, and I, who lives across the country, had breakfast and coffee two mornings in mid-April. It was quiet but lovely. The breakfasts were very good. The young man who wore multiple hats at the counter and serving and stoking the fire was incredibly friendly and efficient. There were no staff available both times I arrived to pick up my keys, so I appreciated having everything squared away ahead of time. Smith Creek Village is a remote area on the edge of Silver Falls State Park. It is a romantic, densely wooded enclave that is often enshrouded in fog during the fall and winter. I've visited in the spring and summer, but staying during the winter months is my favorite because it feels like you are at the edge of the universe. The solitude and relaxation are appreciated after a stressful week of work. Smith Creek Village has a variety of housing options, so be sure to check out their website to see if they have any accomodations that will suit your needs. I've chosed to stay in their one-room cabins each time I've visited. There is a sink and toilet in the cabin, but showers and dressing rooms are a just a quick walk away in a communal bathhouse. The Big Leaf Coffeehouse was a fantastic lodge style restaurant located near the main parking area where guests pick up their welcome packages, however as of October 2024 it seems to have closed "indefinitely." This has happened a number of times through the years, so I can't imagine it's a permanent closure. It really is a necessary amenity because many of the accomodations don't have kitchens. Silver Falls State Park is a beautiful destination not far from Portland. Be sure to check out Silverton, and some of the other attractions in the area if you are visiting from out of town. There is a lot to see!

The nearest good restaurants, shopping and full-service stores are thirty miles away. Building: Five stars for a large, modern home with a lodge look, spacious and well-built with upscale fixtures. There are three upstairs rooms for rent. Grounds: Five stars for the generally attractive surroundings that reportedly include miles of hiking trails. Room and amenities: Four Stars for our room, which was spacious with lots of storage, a balcony and a bath. There were two bed lamps but both were inadequate for reading, while the flood lights in the ceiling were too bright for anyone lying in bed trying to read. The room included a small desk and a chair. Our room rating does not consider the other two rooms, one a bedroom, the other a bunk room for an unknown number of good friends or an entire family, both with a separate or shared bath. Bathroom and amenities: Four stars for the small bath with shower. Counter space was inadequate but that was fully compensated with plenty of drawers and cupboards. Due to the small size of the bath, there is only one towel rack and the TP is uncomfortably located to the rear of the small toilet. The lighting is better than that in most hotel bathrooms. Bed and pillows: Five Stars for the comfortable queen bed. One star for the mushy pillows that crank your chin up toward your chest without providing any support for your neck. HVAC: One star for an unconventional room air conditioner that not only blew cold air across the bed all night long but did so at constantly varying fan speeds that supposedly mimic natural breezes but actually mimic natural cold winds. Both the remote control and the instructions for the AC indicated that this supposedly desirable feature could be defeated in favor of steady low, medium and high fan speeds; however, our attempts to change the program (which included an attempt to reboot the remote) changed nothing. We made do the second night without the AC by opening the door to the balcony. Breakfast. Four stars for a healthy fix-it-yourself fruit and cereal breakfast with high-quality breads and jams. Dog: Five stars for Delilah, a very nice Lab. Service: Three stars. The hosts are friendly and helpful but this is an Airbnb home, not a full-service hotel. Noise Level: Four stars. The rooms are not well-isolated from the central living area or each other; however, the home is generally quiet and noisy activities cease around nine or ten at night. Price and Summary: Airbnb properties generally offer lower prices but they are able to do this in part because they generally are not subject to the building and safety codes and the insurance requirements of commercial hotels. Cascade Mountain Lodge offers especially favorable prices for such a nice property, if its Location (see above) is right for you. The hosts have an unconventional no-shoes-upstairs rule.
