    Dentist visit: complete
    Lauren L.

My daughter was scared of going to the dentist because of a negative experience that she had with her previous dentist. Because of Dr. Nina, Veronica and the other staff members, my daughter had an excellent experience and is no longer afraid of the dentist. I am so glad that we found this place! Thank you for being so kind and gentle with my daughter.

My four girls love coming to this office. It's always a very positive experience for them and most importantly (for them) fun! The twins are almost three-years-old and we're smiling the whole time.

Absolutely wonderful experience! My 6 year old son has autism and can be very difficult when it comes to any kind of appointment. I put off taking him to the dentist far too long and was so nervous taking him. Today was his first time at the dentist and The SGDG staff were very kind but a special shout out to Sonia. She was so sweet and patient with my boy and you can clearly see she has a special connection with special needs children. She was able to get him to cooperate with no fuss. Just can't say enough nice things about Sonia. Then he saw Dr. Sonya (notice the "y" this time :) ) and she was amazing with him too. Thank you to everyone at Simi Childrens Dental Group for putting this very anxious mom's mind at ease. Now I don't have to be so nervous next time knowing he is in great hands.

So thoughtful! I just can't! Thank you so much Miss Sonia! Princess Lily loves you!

My 7-year-old daughter has been dealing with a painful infected tooth along with four additional cavities for approximately TWO WEEKS. This office collected a $250 deposit from us, yet despite repeated calls, they still could not provide us with a firm date for when her procedure would actually take place. The situation became even more disturbing when my daughter developed widespread hives after finishing the medication prescribed as part of her dental treatment. We repeatedly contacted the office because we were concerned about the reaction and her ongoing dental pain. Instead of treating this situation with the urgency and compassion I would expect from a pediatric dental practice, we encountered evasiveness, attitude, arguments over what had supposedly been said, and still no concrete treatment date. At one point, during a discussion about treating my daughter, a staff member said they couldn't "very well strap her down" to perform the procedure. When I challenged that completely inappropriate remark, I was told it was "beside the point." No--it is not beside the point. The way a pediatric dental office speaks about a frightened 7-year-old absolutely matters. They also tried to tell me that my daughter's father had "misunderstood" previous conversations rather than simply addressing our concerns and giving us clear answers. He did not misunderstand. We have both spent an extraordinary amount of time trying to get straightforward information while our child remained in pain. Eventually I had enough. I demanded the return of our $250 deposit and arranged for my daughter to be evaluated by another dentist. Parents should not have to repeatedly chase a dental practice to obtain care for a child with an infected, painful tooth. They should not hand over money without being given a clear treatment plan and reasonable scheduling information. And they certainly should not have to fight through dismissive or argumentative communication while their child is suffering. The lack of urgency, communication, professionalism, and compassion we experienced was appalling. When you're treating children, frightened parents aren't looking for excuses, semantics, or defensiveness. They're looking for competent care and clear answers. We didn't get either.
