Bad food. I ordered the VEGETARIAN pad see ew and it had fish sauce. Unacceptable. Sent it back. Then I ordered the veggies with rice and peanut sauce. Peanut sauce was horrible quality it was oily and bland barely tasted any peanut flavor, and the veggies were very bland as well. I work in a restaurant as a server and have for 7 years and I hate to send food back unless absolutely necessary as I know it is not the server's fault. The service was good considering a pleasant lady admited the cook did put fish sauce in my meal after being told there was no fish sauce in it. She comped it off the meal which looks good on their part. However, the owners need to address the lack of quality in their food, as they're clearly in denial if they think the food is good. I spent too much money on food that I did not enjoy. This place has good yelp reviews which is why i came here but I honestly have no idea why. read more

A good addition to the local dining scene. Very good food. And don't forget the ample parking in the Shaw's Plaza parking lot! Acoustics could be improved a bit - can get a echo-y and hard to hear the person sitting across from you. Maybe some wall hangings would help? I also think that the carved wooden screen, while beautiful, covers too much of the front windows. The location was previously a paint & wallpaper store, and I think the current owners feel the windows are too big, but you don't want people to NOT be able to see in at all ... you might not realize the place is open! I've been here twice. Tofu pad Thai is amazing. I was craving it today so I drove 15+ miles to have some for lunch. A rare treat I was really looking forward to. When I arrived, they were closed. Website says they are open until 2:00 for lunch every day but Monday. Today is Wednesday and I arrived at 12:45. No signs on the door saying they are closed for vacation, no clues at all as to why. I will come back because that pad Thai is the best I have ever had, but I will call ahead. read more

Recently visited Similan while in town for business. I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised! Food was fresh, and SO delish! From the Larb Gai (which had just the right amount of spice) to the Three Racha with its gorgeous veggies to the Pad See Ew whose flavor was just amazing. And treat yourself to a Thai ice tea or two and definitely save room for the coconut sticky rice with mango. Omg, I'm ready to go back to Clinton! read more

Been here twice, not impressed. The vegetarian might be much better but what we had (pad thai, mango fried rice, choo chee duck & sweet and sour chicken curry) all had the same basic oily flavor. I think it's maybe on par with eating Thai at the mall, but certainly more expensive. We won't be going back. Too bad because it's so close to home. read more

Stopped in for lunch - spacious place, tastefully decorated, nice ambiance. Service was quick and friendly. The Tom Yum soup is absolutely delicious, perfect balance of sweet and heat. I could have had 5 bowls. Soft rolls were also tasty and very fresh. The peanut hoisin dipping sauce is the perfect side. I will be back to try some dinner entrees. They also have sushi during dinner, hopefully that is as fresh as everything else I tasted. Clinton could use a good sushi spot! read more

We were very pleasantly pleased with our visit to Similan tonight. The ambiance is very simple and comfortable. But, most importantly, the food was spectacular! I had the Mango curry and my husband had the Lychee duck. I began with the Miso soup and my husband the Country Tom Yum Soup and we also had the crispy rolls. We also ended the evening with the fried banana dessert and a ginger ice cream. There was absolutely not one thing that we didn't enjoy. I am so glad to see more restaurants like this one coming into the area. We brought our own wine but look forward to the restaurant getting their liquor license. read more

Similan is by far the best Thai restaurant in the area. You must give this place a try. You won't be disappointed! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I have eaten there many times and have brought my young ones. They also enjoy trying different things.They also have sushi which is fantastic. I am absolutely IN LOVE with this place. I love thai food once a month or sometimes even twice, and this is always where I go. Every time I call to place my order, they recognize who I am and immediately remember what I always get. And I know it's their brains working because they don't have the computer system where you enter a phone number and it pulls up their most recent order. The people who work here are extremely friendly, and the food is always fantastic! They have the best peanut sauce I have ever tried, my absolute favorite. I can't say enough about this place! Love coming here for dinner with my hubby and family. The presentation of their food is incredible! I always get the Country Basil dinner with ground chicken, yum! The Thai iced tea is delicious and I regularly get it... even with takeout! I recently went in with my mother and could tell we had a waiter that was new... he was good but we waited for our check for a while and didn't get our ordered drinks until our meals were served. I could tell he was a little nervous but we still tipped him well. Hey, he's still learning people! As a former waitress, I understand how tricky it can be to juggle tables with an unfamiliar menu/cuisine. The food is soooo good and the presentation is so pretty with the food arrangements and all. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area. Would not recommend coming at an hour before closing or sooner though, I came in with friends last year an hour before closing and our plates were cleared before we were finished eating, we barely had our plates for 5 minutes! We didn't like to be rushed and the get together was a looked forward to event. That was my only complaint, all other meals that I've had were well before closing and very yummy! read more

Food was fresh and serivce good, but the main dishes we ordered were not as flavorful as I expect from Thai. We tried three items: large appetizer assortment (called golden something on the menu), Bankok Duck, and Mango Curry. The appetizers were really good. Cooked just right and very tasty, well above average in preparation. The Bankok duck to our tastes was bland and the portion was small. I'd be OK with the portion but the sauce was watery and just not flavorful. I'm used to having this dish in a slightly more substantial and sweeter sauce. The Mango Curry contained both chicken and shrimp and it was moderately spicy. I liked it but aside from the spiciness I just didn't think it that flavorful. We get these three dishes at One Thong Chai in Fitchburg and Similan wins on the appetizer platter, but the two main courses are better at OTC. We might try Similan again though to see if there might be some other dishes we like better. As I said, the food seem fresh and service was good. read more

Had heard good things and read good reviews-decided to try it( out. Prices were high for the area, but i'm totally willing to pay for good food. We visited for dinner at 6 one evening in August. It was about 86 degrees in the restaurant. We asked them to turn on the air conditioning and a young lady said it was on, they were just in the middle of a big "rush". It was almost unbearable but our hunger got the best of us. We ordered appetizers and two entrees. Apps were so-so. My friend NEVER received her entree. Mine was ok ( i tried to wait for hers to come out but it was taking forever. Pls note that this whole time we were the ONLY people to enter and/or leave the restaurant. We asked about the other entree and he said he would check on it. approx 5 minutes later with no further word we canceled the second entree. Waiter with an attitude acted insulted. He said they were busy due to a rush on take out orders. This was clearly NOT THE CASE b/c no one entered the restaurant. Probably one of the Worst dining experiences i have had, I left one star b/c i couldn't see any way to leave less than that read more
