I abhor eating fast food on road trips. As Alexis would say "Ewwww David". So I sought out a local eatery up ahead of us and stumbled across Simkins on Yelp. I am SO HAPPY I did! Everything here is homemade. Everything was tasty and delicious, our highlights were the chili and scratch salad dressings. A wholesome way to eat that's not out of a greasy burger bag! It's set on a sweet little street in the town and has the kindest people working there. It's truly a hometown, main street experience you don't want to miss! Eat small, eat local. Enjoy! read more

Best German sour Kraut pocket in Colorado. 20. Gyro are amazing and so affordable. Bacon triple cheese sandwich and soups galore. The deserts are fabulous. I'll take back to hotel vs. an awful full take out dinner. Yup, found my place for cheeseburger pockets, malts, salad sandwich combo. Perfect. There were 2 girls behind the counter and honestly seemed overwhelmed. The line wasn't really well defined and orders were slow going. That being said, the ice cream and food were really good. I was disappointed the ice cream wasn't made in house but it didn't look like a lot was made in house but rather heated up in house. My friend ordered a bagel sandwich and it took about 10 minutes or so to get. I don't know what the pockets are but they didn't seem fresh but heated in a microwave or something similar. If you're in the area and you want ice cream, it's definitely worth the detour off the main drag. Otherwise, it's just a another kind of "meh". read more

Super yummy and cute! Stopped in for ice cream :10 before close and ended up getting dinner. Super helpful in choosing, knowledgeable and editable. Not a ton of gluten free options? The ice cream is from a distributor, but still pretty good. The jalapeño popper grilled cheese was DELICIOUS and gooey! Loved it!! The cookie dough ice cream didn't have any cookie dough which was sad; maybe I got (or it ended up coming out as) chocolate chip. Wish I could have spent more time in there! read more

Fantastic! I visited on my way back to Nebraska from Denver, and it is so worth the little drive away from the freeway. Try one of the sundae house creations. This experience was pleasing in every way. We were greeted with smiles. We were quickly served despite how busy they are, for good reason. We were seated in a quaint comfortable environment. We ordered Jalapeno Popper Grilled cheese sandwich, salad and soup. I had a slice of heavenly Keto friendly cheesecake. This was such a satisfying experience. They have a diverse menu sure to please. An adorable and delicious lunch stop on our way to Fort Collins! The chili was just like my mom makes it, and the sandwiches were very good. Coffee was fresh, and the milkshake was excellent. There was plenty of seating, and the food came out quick -- great for those needing to get in and out and back on the road. The Parlour is in a very cute downtown area and seems to be family-owned. What a fantastic find on our road trip through Colorado!! If you're hungry for some fresh, locally sourced, food in a town full of farmers this is the spot for you. Basically build your own salad or wrap with tons of fresh options, it was the perfect meal after eating fast food the prior 10 hours in the car!!!! There was only one family ahead of us and they had already ordered their stuff and it still took over 10 minutes to get our ONE lemonade. We didn't even get acknowledged until we were up at the counter and it was our turn to order, even though it was only us and one other family in the whole establishment. Terrible service. The bread is made from scratch, tasty & marvelous! and most ingredients are locally grown. Very plentiful menu, no one goes hungry, portions are generous, It's very clean, rustic, the decor was adorable. The staff is chipper, happy to have guests, and informative with your questions. GO HERE! It's a gem. It's a wonderful, local, family-run place right in the center of town and it's got something for everyone. We went for lattes/cappuccinos but were delighted to see they had real food too, all made from scratch -- salads, soups, sandwiches, pastry pockets, filled with meat or veggies, breakfast burritos, and my favorite, Frito pie. And of course, ice cream. The family that runs it is SO nice and welcoming, and you can tell they've really worked hard to make it great place for the local community and visitors alike. I especially liked how they kept things from Sterling's history to bring the old and new together, like how they maintained the old name and original store sign, or how their menu board is made from the original Simkins Grocery front door. read more

Stopped by here with my family the day after Christmas. My husband raves about the vanilla malts and has to have them whenever we are in Sterling. I had the egg nog latte which was fresh and rich. My daughter had the egg nog shake ( kinda wish I had had that) and my other daughter had one of their special Christmas flavored lattes. We enjoyed our drinks and played UNO! Stopped here by chance, straying off the interstate in search of good coffee, food, and local color. I would definitely return and highly recommend visiting this pleasant and comfortable coffeehouse. The remodel of an old grocery storefront was tastefully and lovingly done; the coffee and food (I had a broccoli-cheese pocket) were topnotch; the WiFi is free, and there are games for all ages.
