It's been my favourite spot in the area for a really long time and always had good experiences here. It's a more casual restaurant but still has seating inside. They have a decent variety in their menu with the all-day menu and the lunch specials. Personally, I really like their lunch specials as they're quite affordable (under $15) for what you get. S-9 Combo: Great cuts of fish, especially the salmon, are really delicious. The crunchy California roll was amazing, too. The rolls are a bit on the larger size to eat but can't complain more food. K-7 Combo: The chicken katsu was decent. It's not the best katsu I've had, but for a sushi spot, it's decent and was large portions. A nice change from the usual sushi. The lunch combos come with a soup and a salad. Very filling portions and truly get the bang for your buck. They have quick service. I heard a couple of friends talked about this restaurant and I was happened to be in the area and wanted to try it out. My family of 4 adults and 3 kids got the family pack special which consists of bunch of rolls, pork Katsu and a bunch of fried appetizers. It took over 20 mins for the food to come out, the kids were really hungry. Though it was during rush hour dinner as there were a lot of take outs. Finally the appetizers came out. The shrimp tempuras and dumplings were not bad... the calamari and pork Katsu was either overcooked or re-fried. None of us could eat as it was so dried and chewy. The spring roll was soggy on the inside. The sushi was huge, overly packed with rice and lots of stuffing. Majority of the sushi we got was yam and crab with mangoes. I asked for ginger ale and on top of the can it was dirty so I told the waiter to give me another one and he did, it was still dirty but less so I cleaned it. As we entered the place, the owners got up from their chairs and seem pleased with some business as we were the only customers in the restaurant. Shortly after selecting a seat near the window, I gazed up to find a HUGE SPIDER WEB, rich with several weeks worth of bounty, hanging on display, asserting its dominance to fellow spiders that may come wondering around...thinking about this sent chills down my spine, but what's worse is that this battlefield of a home is currently empty. I decided not the tell my boyfriend (facing away from the corner of the wall, blissfully unaware) about this spiderweb in fear that he too, could lose his appetite, and ate the rest of the meal with the taste of spider web in my mouth. This was my first time ordering take out at Simon sushi and I must say it was much better than I expected. When I opened the takeaway box I was pleasantly surprised to see that the maki peices were much larger and there was so much fresh salmon in each peice. They were also very generous with their wasabi and ginger which was also a plus. I'm so excited that Simon Sushi chose to relocate to Long Branch! Brought my kids for late lunch, we ordered a Veg Roll Set (for me), a miso soup, 2 steamed rice, 1 order of salmon sashimi, 3 orders of salmon sushi and an Asahi (beer for me!). My kids love fish, they inhaled everything in minutes, it was all very fresh and nicely presented. I absolutely loved the ginger dressing in my salad, so much flavour, definitely not the typical dressing that you're usually served at most sushi places, I'd love to order a bucket of it for my fridge so I can pour it on everything haha The service was fast and very pleasant, complimentary fresh fruit (cherries, plums and dragon fruit) at the end of our meal was a nice bonus! We recently discovered that our 1 year old LOVES sushi rolls (not the raw fish variety but ones with cooked shrimp, avocado and as much seaweed wrap as possible) so this really has opened up our take-out and dining out options beyond our existing stale options. I'd heard a lot of decent feedback in the area about Simon Sushi but had never been in. We decided to order a collection of rolls, some miso soups, the seaweed salad and edamame. I guess I have to thank Dany Sushi for being closed all last week, I don't know if I would have walked the extra half block to go into Simon Sushi otherwise. Such a nice little place! Our server told us they opened in July, you can tell everything is new and pretty. I went there for dinner with a co-worker last Thursday night. It was not busy, probably 2 other tables had people - but then, I don't think there's more than 10 tables. We did notice a few people coming in to pick up an order for takeout. The portions may be on the smaller size but the prices are cheap! The most expensive roll is probably $8. The food was very good, especially with what you're paying... I had an appetizer (veg tempura) and a roll (no drink, just water) and it came to $14.60 with tax. I will definitely be coming back! read more

I am a fan of AYCE restaurants when it comes to sushi, but this time I only wanted a few certain items to feed my craving. I was passing by Simon Sushi many times and today finally decided to give it a try. The place itself is very clean, furniture is new, nothing there looks overwhelming. The woman on the counter was very welcoming and took our order to go when we were ready to place it. The wait time was about 10-15 min. It was so hot outside, that's why the perceptive waitress gave us ice water without even asking, what we were very grateful for. Food was really fresh and delicious! I am being a salmon lover ordered a "salmon salad", which was amazingly made. The philli roll was also very good with the proportionally right amount of rice to other ingredients. During the lunch time they serve special sets of rolls, which goes with soup and green salad for $10 in total. I recommend this place to dine in. This place delivers just a hair above what it promises with its decor. The interior is more or less thrown together, no design cohesion - bar style bench, food court style chairs and tables, bits of Japanese rustic thrown onto small town seafood restaurant walls. The tables weren't set, so coming in, it really did look like a food court - it was Sunday though and they said business was slow. THE FOOD: Tempura appetizer to start: The batter was somewhat bulbous and not as crispy as one would like. Left an oily residue in the mouth after each bite. That being said, it had that fast food umami taste and I hadn't eaten yet so, it hit a good spot. Green dragon, Toronto roll, dynamite roll: Salmon was nice and milky - made all the more silky by the mayo that accompanied it in each roll; more mayo than you might expect. I'm not complaining though - I'm the guy that likes his fries with mayo, so I quite liked their ratio. Not a great deal of subtlety in their flavors, but still pretty yummy. Fresh avocado. Shrimp a bit chewy. The rice, interestingly, was quite neutral, verging on bland. Usually, lower-end sushi places use too much sugar in their rice to make up the ground in flavour that their mediocre ingredient lose. But not Simon sushi. Theirs was simple, with a nice texture, kind of a clean background against which the fresh avocado and fatty salmon do well. In all I would say that this place was highly inoffensive. The textured chopstick tips were a nice detail (perhaps not a conscious detail on the part of their ownership) Final note, I just noticed a large spider web above my head, a great many victim flies dead or dying on it. I had finished by the time I noticed it, others may not be so lucky. read more

The tempura was done well on the yam. My husband picked a medium tray that featured a nice mix of fresh sashimi including tuna. We were also provided a small salad with a delicious ginger/peanut butter dressing, as well as a cup of miso soup. The green tea was served piping hot. The server was super friendly & attentive. Went here because Dani sushi was closed. I found that the portions are on the smaller side. The sushi rice was too sour, meaning that the chef had added too much vinegar. That ruined the experience for me. (Not sure if this was intentional) but it seemed as if the sides of the salmon sushi were a bit cooked? I also found that some of the other sushi fish were hard to chew. The California Maki roll was good though (small). Waitress is nice and attentive. The best Sushi and even better prices you'll ever have in Toronto. My husband and I were given their takeout menu in our mailbox when they first opened. They were/are very new to the area and were pretty picky with Sushi, but also decided to give it a try since every new place on Lakeshore deserves a try ;) . Sooooo happy we did!!! Felt like we left disappointed and the meals weren't worth what we pay for... we ordered the poke bowl and I've never had one so plain before, my husband had the pork katsu and the veg and meat were so bland as well, it's like they didn't cook with any seasoning at all. This place was amazing! Their lunch specials between 12-5 are great value. We both got the chicken teriyaki special ($10 for chicken, rice, tempura, and 3 cali sushi rolls) + shared the cali roll / spicy salmon roll lunch special (also $10). The spicy salmon rolls were honestly the best we'd ever had. They had a nice kick and a good portion of salmon in each roll... we ordered more after. Great service too. Definitely prefer this over chain sushi restaurants that have so much rice on their rolls... The ones at Simon's were perfect. Will absolutely be back!!! read more

Truly amazing sushi. The place was really very clean and the staff was very friendly and the food was relatively fast around 10 minutes which for what we got was completely justified. The first thing we had was an appetizer salad which was amazing despite me often not liking salads. Then I had Miso soup and the sushi. It truly was amazing and I really thank all the staff behind the counter in making the food as clearly it must have took them a lot of time to learn how to make sushi this well. The one problem though is that I noticed this place is very underrated and only 2 groups of 2 people came in from our hour and a half we were spending there. they disserve much more support and for people to try their place.
