They assured me that even though FedEx dropped the ball (or in this case, the bass!) Sweetwater would replace my purchase. While using it, the locking mechanism suddenly failed and collapsed, sending the heavy keyboard crashing down onto me. It hit my knee and then my toes--painful, and completely preventable. I found out the next day that my daughter, who was helping set the keyboard, was also injured but didn't want to tell me because I was furious at the moment from smashed toes. Afterward, I checked reviews and found multiple people reporting the exact same issue. It's concerning that a product with known safety problems is still being sold without recall or warning. Customer service only made things worse. When I explained what happened, there was little concern shown. Instead, I was immediately pitched another stand--one that actually had worse reviews. That response felt dismissive and suggested that customer feedback isn't being taken seriously. I also had a separate issue: I bought a Fender American Acoustasonic Strat and paid $150 for a "guaranteed fit" Gator case that didn't fit at all. That alone was frustrating, but combined with everything else, it points to a bigger problem with quality control. At this point, it's hard to take the widely advertised "55-point inspection" seriously. Based on my experience--and what many others are saying--it feels more like a marketing claim than a meaningful quality check. Overall, the level of care and reliability that once set this company apart seems to be slipping. Between safety concerns, poor product recommendations, and questionable quality assurance, it's becoming easier to shop elsewhere.

The inventory caters to guitarists and bassists, primarily, but they will occasionally have a drum kit or two in the store as well. I peaked at a high-end-Gretsch, a vintage Fender jazz bass, and a blackface Bassman amp they had kicking around. I might have walked out with an impulse purchase if I hadn't been so pressed for time. The whole place was clean and well organized - not often a feature common to music shops. They had a wonderful selection of 60s-70s music playing in-store. Both Andy and Mike seem to love what they do; there was none of the jadedness you often find in retail. I'd highly recommend them, and I also recommend checking out the owner's pet project, a recording studio called "Dirty White Couch."

That's right, they screwed up admittedly to messing up my guitar and in communications about what was supposed to be worked on. Let's get the story straight, I insisted Ken fix my guitar, he did not offer shit initially. Interestingly Ken brings up a full refret now as if he knows something I don't. A full refret was never spoken of until he had a meeting with his "luthier". You must know it needs a full refret bud. Check out this guys behavior. He offers up to a full refret at the shop of my choice and then renegs because he "read something wrong" on the website about the price. I'll break it down for you. Ken misreads somehow $300 for a full refret which is actually $550 and offers me a full refret up to $300. One fret replaced starts at $330. I bring this up and Ken says I'm right but he can't cover the full refret at $550 that he will only cover 3 frets. As soon as he saw that price of $550 he reneged. How shitty is that? So I would then have to foot the bill for something this guy just said he would cover. He bailed on me like a true slime ball. Then all of a sudden he offers only to fix 3 frets as this would be the cheaper route for him to go. Figures. That's exactly why this store is ran this way and I ran into all of these issues because the owner is a fraud and can't keep a consistent offering. You're guaranteed to have this guy change his entire deal mid conversation without warning, it's pretty bizarre. This behavior spills over into the staff heavily and Integrity is completely lost at this place. Imagine being me and going through this and STILL not having a fixed guitar because they fucked it up! Ken wants to talk about his vintage instruments and how perfect they are while my instrument is ruined because of your trash-bin "luthier". Imagine this as well, having the title "Christian" attached to your name and your background but then doing this to a customer. Dishonor upon your head, you read something wrong, so own up to it and keep your word. If you know you errored, man up and say I'll pay the price for the full refret. You just got done agreeing to pay $300 because that's what you believed was the price for a full refret. You'd adjust and pay the $550 if you actually had integrity. It's not my problem you cannot read. You're just a wishy washy dude and that's as slimy as it gets. The next time you preach a message you go ahead and think about how you screwed me over and put that fake smile on having others believe you're a good guy. You're unfit and unworthy of owning a guitar shop and being behind any pulpit with the way you mislead customers. Do the people you preach to know your business practices?
