Ok, so I just got married about 6 months ago. That whole "nesting" thing has genetically programmed me to want to buy some furniture for our house. We had been looking, and looking, and LOOKING for a bedroom set. I'm not old, and I'm not fussy. I don't want a Louis the IVth ornate ugly bedroom set. I also don't own a house with a huge master suite - my house is an older (1939 house) with what I would call a modestly generous sized master bedroom for that era; about 20' by 14' or so. So we'd been looking and looking and looking at area furniture stores for a dark wood, clean lined, non-fussy bedroom set. Apparently nobody makes those and apparently a lot of people like ugly, ornate furniture! On a whim my husband and I were in the Castleton area and stopped in to the Simply Amish store. We saw a bunch of beautiful, simple, but modern bedroom sets. You can buy the pieces individually, and you pick the wood and the finish you want. We ended up with a cherry bedroom set with a mahogany stain. They even allowed us to CUSTOMIZE all the pieces - we made the headboard and footboard of the bed higher, and we made the footprint of the nightstands smaller (23" wide vs. their standard huge width) because our bedroom isn't huge. The pieces are all handmade; the beds are made by Mr. Kauffman and the furniture pieces are made by Mr. Miller. It only took them 6 weeks to make our order (bed, dresser, and two nightstands). We even got to pick the drawer upgrades (fully extendable drawers, soft-close drawers) and the type of knobs on all the furniture. When the furniture was delivered everything was delicately placed and gingerly handled. It was almost like they were responsible for something THEY themselves owned. I only wish we'd gotten our living room furniture here (see my review about Ethan Allen and you'll know why). They can customize EVERYTHING and they always seem to be having a 15% off sale... Anyway, the next room we plan to do is our office, and then the dining room. Their furniture is all hand made, hand signed on the back, and is all finished so that you don't need to use coasters. They even gave me "training coasters" to ween myself away from using coasters on the furniture, as it's protected against water, alcohol, and even nail polish remover! I can't say enough good things about this store. Their sales staff are amazing. Their products are in a class of their own. And they always have refreshments, and homemade cookies and moon pies at the store. Who can beat that? I am feeling the love for Simply Amish furniture. read more

I agree with everything the first reviewer said about this place. My wife and I ordered a dining set to replace our last piece of college furniture. It arrived today and it's amazing. Besides being exactly what we wanted (since we got to customize everything including dropping the height on the backs of the chairs 4 inches) the quality is ridiculous. There is a reason why everything comes with a lifetime warranty. This isn't that hideous press-board crap you get other places and it isn't so trendy that we'll want to replace it in 5 years anyway. The crazy thing is, it doesn't even cost that much more than the other places. $3,000 for a dining room table and six chairs that will last generations? No-brainer. Definitely check this place out. (It sure is sad how hard it is to find places like this. Do people really just plan on throwing everything away?) read more

Give this place a shot, there are affordable (and yet still beautiful) things in here. We bought three dining room chairs from here after literally looking around for years, but we almost didn't give it a chance ... When walking in the first time, they had a $600 dining room chair at the first display. As in, you pay $600 and we'll give you this. One. Chair. I turned to my bride and said, "You see this? Let's go." Just as we were turning to leave, we got caught by the dreaded roaming sales rep ... EXCEPT in this case, there was nothing to dread. This was a different kind of rep, the not-pushy kind, a sweet lady by the name of Med. She asked our budget and asked us to give them a chance, that they had a wide range of prices. We shrugged and gave her a shot, ended up with some gorgeous dark finish, handmade maple chairs for about $200 apiece. Still pricey, sure. But for quality wood chairs like these, that we plan to have forever or darn near close to it? Pretty good. Kid bonus: They have a little fenced off area with cool wooden toys that your age 2-10 kids will go nuts for. Turns it from a boring adult trip into a "hey can we go to that place again sometime" trip for the little ones. Nice touch. If you're in the "time to get some affordable but nice, adult furniture" spot like we were, try Simply Amish. If you have endless amounts of money, come here too and buy all of the $600 dining room chairs you want. I'll stick to their low end stuff that rates as high end in just about every other store. read more

I have quite a bit of furniture from simply Amish and it is of the highest quality. It is a little more expensive and you do have to wait several weeks for your furniture to be built but it is well worth the wait! read more

The furniture at Simply Amish is indeed beautiful, but the staff is deceitful and dishonest and you will ultimately regret your decision to purchase furniture from them. We certainly did. My husband and I ordered a couch from Simply Amish this spring. We were told at that time it would take 8-10 weeks for it to be built. Last week, after more than 12 weeks, I called to check on the status of our order and no one at Simply Amish could give me a straight answer. The next day I received a call that our couch was ready to be delivered, but the couch that was delivered showed obvious signs of wear--stains and a tear along the bottom. The paperwork that came with the couch described an order date of January 2010! At that point I called the manager, Emily, and asked point blank if this was a new couch and she said it was. Obviously Simply Amish failed to order our couch and instead tried to pawn off an old model and pass it as new for their own material gain. Everyone we spoke with about this incident blamed it on the prior manager who took our order, yet someone who is presently with Simply Amish made the decision to take this old couch and tell us it was the one we ordered. The staff and management at Simply Amish will do and say anything in order to get your money. They cannot and should not be trusted. read more

Not worth the money you pay for it. We ordered in a dark color on the seats of all the chairs you see scratches in the wood from sanders never smoothed out. I have noticed if something gets on the tablecloth with grease in it and sits on there for an extended period say several hours when you remove the table cloth it seems to leave a mark no matter how much I wipe with the recommended Miracle Cloth. Also I have a son who had a stroke and he has dropped his regular tableware knife several times. Today I noticed two dings in what appears to be very soft wood. Early on I noticed a bigger ding in it and contacted them thinking something heavy had fallen on the table and asking what could be done. I made the mistake of mentioning I was having work done in house and the table had been covered with a fleece blanket to keep the sawdust off it and they immediately decided someone dropped a screw on it. The work was being done in the living room and the contractor didn't put his tools on my dining room table. The claim of life time warranty is I think only for very specialized things but not sold that way. I would never buy another piece of furniture from them. We all get warm and fuzzy over the "Amish" tag and how they make everything with non electric tools etc. And being able to pick from the A La Carte menu is nice but not when you spent money on something you think is going to look beautiful in years. I have had this table now for 2 years and everyday I find another flaw (recently just happened to rub a corner of a chair and very rough not smoothed out. Don't be fooled by the sales pitch of furniture you can pass on etc. My sister has a set she bought in a furniture store years ago NOT SIMPLY AMISH just a plain old maple set and 25 years later she is still using it and I can guarantee you she didn't pay 4k for it. We went mid price on our living room furniture thinking we want to change it every so often wish we had done the same on dining room furniture. Don't fall for it, we bought ours in Gardner Mills Factory Stores, Mass. I consider it worth 1/2 the price at best. read more

i purchased a table and six chairs from simply amish in indianapolis, in. i shopped around several different stores in indianapolis to find a solid wood, quality piece of furniture. i ultimately chose simply amish because of their lifetime warranty and imposed qualty. their wood furniture was described as being finished/stained throughout, top and bottom, to a perfect finish. emily, the store manager and our salesperson, showed and explained to us that each piece of wood has three layers of staind and sanded smooth in between each layer to give their furniture the best finish. i received my table and chairs nine weeks later, thru delivery to my home. i checked each piece and noticed flaws on each one. all the chairs had corners that were sanded thru and you could see raw wood(oak). the chairs were unacceptable. i chose a dark stain and where the flaws were, you could see a lighter, tan natural color of the wood. there were multiple spots, at least a dozen per, on each chair. the table was not finished to the advertised quality of simply amish. there was overspray on the botton of the table and it was lighter in color/stain. there was also a long scratch on one of the pieces of wood that make up the table.i would not make a big deal out of the bottom the table, but since the chairs are damaged, it has come to the point that i am not happy with the table. i happily paid the $4200 dollars for the table and 6 chairs that i thought i was going to receive. however, now that i see that the product does not come with the standards described or advertised, it is not worth the money. also, when i called emily to complain about the furniture, she was disrespectful and i felt that she did not care what i thought. i returned the 6 chairs, i thought i could live with the table. emily gave me the run around for several days. she said they would blend the stain "in house". they never redelivered my chairs, so i went to get them before it was to late and i didn't have any chairs. i filed a complaint with the bbb. do not purchase from that store. read more

My husband and I bought our first Simply Amish furniture back in 2002 - new bedroom furniture! We searched a lot of stores. Found very pretty furniture. Then we opened the drawers!!! Like cardboard - excuse me - pressed board! We knew it would not hold up over the years we intended to keep our furniture! We landed at Simply Amish and were impressed! We have since been back to purchase other furniture - end tables, and two complete desk ensembles! Our children have already spoken for their preferred pieces And, we know it will stand the test of time! Thanks for still having pride in the product you make and sell! Yes...it is a bit pricey, but nothing has to be replaced because it falls apart and all the pieces we bought are timeless in their style! You can be a very smart shopper or a trendy shopper! The "lifetime warranty" is very misleading. When my $300. bar stool broke after 8 years (the wood on the back separated from the base), first I called the local Simply Amish dealer. She tried to help by calling the Corporate office but they told her "well, if it was a defect it would have broken in the first year." So much for the lifetime warranty! Why even have a lifetime warranty if the policy is "if it doesn't break in the first year we're not covering it!" They denied the warranty and the only relief they offered was for me to pay $350 for a brand new chair (more than the original cost!) and to pay $250 shipping! I personally called the corporate office, even sent pictures of the chair, but they wouldn't budge. They wouldn't even consider the idea of just repairing it. This chair was part of a $3,500.00 dining room set, with table and chairs plus three bar stools, for which I had the original receipt. In addition to that we also purchase a $450. microwave cart from them, but none of that mattered to them. We felt we were treated poorly by the corporation. They didn't care at all about customer relations, only money. read more
