It was not evident that night or when my husband reached out to the owner to attempt to schedule a meeting to discuss the issues. First the owner agreed and then the night before the meeting was to take place, he sent an email canceling because he claimed to have no time. We had all withheld writing anything negative prior to receiving that email. But here we are. We've been ignored and dismissed while he is busy opening all his new businesses in the area. This is not how you treat your customers and continue a good name. I will be telling everyone I know what happened and how it was handled and we will be avoiding all of your restaurants going forward. We loved that our cocktail hour could utilize both the outdoor patio and the first floor rooms of the beautiful mansion. We loved that the tent has a permanent floor and comes with decorative lights and chandeliers. We especially loved that the Delaware location allows it to be tax free! After our initial walkthrough, we really knew that Bellevue Hall was the right choice for us. The planning process was a bit challenging due to staffing changes within the venue and at JAM. Our primary contacts switched multiple times, and at times it was challenging to get in contact with someone. We were lucky to have our own wedding planner who was persistent in her follow-up calls and in making sure none of our details were missed, so it did work out, and our eventual assigned JAM planner, Nicole, was very sweet. Our actual wedding day was perfect, and the mansion and flowering gardens were the perfect backdrop for our ceremony. Our tent looked beautiful as well. I can't wait to see our full gallery of photos from our photographer. Bellevue Hall works exclusively with JAM Catering whose food was one of the highlights of the evening. It was important to us to offer food that was flavorful, not boring, and they really delivered. Our hors d'oeuvres were delicious, our custom Rhubarb Gin Fizz signature drink was delightful, and our entrees were well cooked and well seasoned. I especially appreciated that they offer a variety of unique vegetarian entrees --- the black bean cake was scrumptious and so much better than the bland cheese pasta I've seen at other weddings. I didn't want the bartenders filling wine to the top of the glass or pouring more then 1 shot per drink. This was reiterated at least 3 times and was written in the contract. I sent a drink list to the owner a week prior to the event. The day of the event I was surprised to see no one drinking the holiday martinis on the list that was sent over a week prior to the event. I was informed by my guest that the bartenders had no idea how to make a martini and they were told to make the drink with ice in a wine glass. They said a martini is never shaken? I bought all the supplies and alcohol to make the drinks I requestdd and I was disappointed to hear from my guests that the drinks made were undrinkable. The lawn near the barns were used for the cocktail hour and the lawn behind the main house was where the couple got married. I don't know what Worsell provides but there were uniform wooden benches and a wedding arch that I suspected may be available through the location. Overall it was a beautiful (and a bit secluded/off the beaten path) location! The only thing I'd recommend to prospective brides is if you choose Worsell, do recommend to your guests that they bring bug spray or have some available when they arrive. We were outside for about an hour and a half by the time I was able to get back to the car and spray my exposed legs and feet down. In that time I accrued about 4 new bug bites! Also, ladies beware, there isn't much in the way of paved walkways outside of the house and barn. I recommend flats or wedges!
