Spectacular! We found ourselves unexpectedly without a wedding cake vendor just before our wedding. Our summer camp themed celebration was held in Groveland which, although beautiful, was remote and out in the middle of the forest! Logistically we had to plan far in advance for everything and we had no idea who to turn to when we suddenly lost our cake vendor! Coming out of town, we had to narrow down our options and choose a vendor in 1 day. I am so thankful we found Simply Delish and wish we had gone to her first! Her carrot cake was, hands down, the best I've had and her cream cheese frosting was the perfect consistency and sweetness. She was pleasant, calming, and so delightful to do a tasting with! She took care of everything necessary, even trucking out that cake to a remote camp! It was beautiful, delicious, and perfect. I didn't feel like I needed to micro manage anything because she was professional, confident and genuine. I didn't think twice and that says a lot coming from a nightmare situation. I was very disappointed when picking up my custom Disney Cars cake for my sons 2nd birthday this past Saturday. The cake design was not what we had discussed and confirmed. Since I was so disappointed I didn't notice the much bigger issue of the cake until I got home with it. The 2 that the cake was in the shape of was backwards!!!! (there is a picture of it posted) With the amount of detail that she put into the border of the cake, how did she not notice that the 2 was backwards?!! The cake itself was adequate. The cake was dark chocolate with raspberry cream filling. It was about 4 inches high. But there was way more cake than filling. My guests couldn't figure out what was in the filling, so there wasn't enough raspberry flavor. I initially thought that working with Vonnie was a painless process. She had plenty of time, I ordered the cake a month in advance. The design was (I thought) solidified by phone and email. For the amount of money that cakes seem to be going for these days, I expected to have what I asked for, but at least have something that wasn't backwards. I was looking for a way to have really good strawberries delivered to someone in Sonora, and the only options I could find were Shari's Berries and Simply Delish. I tried to find out what Shari's standard shipping charge was through their website - I entered the item I wanted and the shipping address - but it wouldn't give me a quote unless I entered credit card info first. Frustrated (and not wanting to give my cc number when I might not even be ordering), I called Simply Delish. Vonnie at SD was very kind, patient and informative, and the total for a dozen chocolate-covered berries *with personal delivery* turned out to be only a little more than a dozen from Shari's *before* shipping. In addition, with SD, I got to choose the type of chocolate (dark or white - I chose dark) and whether to add a drizzle. She also included a gift card, and was friendly and patient when I called back later to add to the message, and yet again when I called the next morning to request a more specific delivery time. Today, the happily surprised recipient's verdict was: "The strawberries are seriously delicious." Thank you so much, Vonnie, for helping me make that happen! Wow! She really delivered! With short notice she made the most beautiful cake for my husbands 70th Birthday. I had requested chocolate peanut butter cake with a glitzy fondant exterior and it came out beautifully. She even delivered it to the restaurant for our event. I contacted Vonnie about making a birthday cake for a surprise celebration that was planned for a family reunion in Long Barn. I live in the Bay Area so all of my contact with her was over the phone. The cupcake selection was great and the person helping me was patient and offered me a basic candle if I wanted one at no extra charge. Simply Delish the cakes for our wedding. I requested for mini wedding cakes so each person can get their own individual cake, and thy looked so amazing and they came out so delicious. We chose 3 different flavors (almond was my favorite one!). They were decent sized and each flavor was decorated uniquely for it's flavor. I also loved that she really stuck to the them that we wanted. They were also able to make the groom's cake like a tuxedo and my cake look like lace. They were hands down the absolute best cupcakes I have ever had, they were to die for, or "Simply Delish". The coconut cupcake was my favorite followed by the raspberry vanilla. My husband and I were recently married on October 15, 2016 at the Pinecrest Chalet, which is about 30 minutes away from Sonora. We wanted our wedding cake from a nearby bakery, and Simply Delish was the bakery my wedding coordinators raved about and highly recommended that we use- they especially recommended we try the almond flavor, since that was their favorite. From the moment I contacted Vonnie, who owns the bakery, she responded very quickly and was open, honest and helpful with a wedding cake novice like myself- for example, we were convinced we wanted a multi-tier naked cake for our reception, however with our budget and the style of our wedding, Vonnie convinced us that a more traditional smaller cake and cupcakes would be the best option, and she was SO right! It ended up being the perfect solution for our outdoor rustic camping wedding, and people LOVED the cupcakes and the different options they could choose from! When we first tried the cupcakes during our tasting, we were both floored by just how amazing the almond flavor was, so we created a two-tier wedding cake with almond and red velvet flavors, and 150 gourmet cupcakes with almond, red velvet, vanilla, vanilla raspberry and chocolate-raspberry flavors. Vonnie worked closely with us to keep everything very affordable, and she even matched cupcake liners to our wedding colors! She was extremely honest, kind and very reliable, even going above and beyond in helping us set up the dessert table, to make it look even more beautiful. And the quality of her cake and frosting is just stellar, it is truly the best cake my fiance and I have ever had! I am so glad we went with Vonnie for our wedding cake- even my hairstylist in Sonora (who HATES cake), said that Vonnie/Simply Delish is the best in the area and even she can't resist her cupcakes. And we got so many compliments from our wedding guests as well. My fiance and I are already planning on going back for our one-year anniversary (Helpful tip: Vonnie recommends not saving and freezing the first tier of your original wedding cake, as it will not taste very good by that time- rather, she volunteered to make us a new cake when we come back to Sonora for our anniversary), and we HIGHLY recommend Simply Delish to anyone looking for a baker for their special event, or are in the area and want a delicious cupcake. I heard rave reviews about Simply Delish. Unfortunately we've had a bad experience with this bakery for a babyshower for 80 people to the tune of $248.00!!!. I do realize it's the only privately owned bakery in town but the 24 vanilla cupcakes were't any better than what I could have ordered (and paid less) at Safeway or SaveMart. The owner as she says "is so busy" that she never returned my phone call. After a week I called and she said "she never got out of the back room" to return my call! Below is the way SHE handled my complaints: 1. We ordered 72 cupcakes of which 1 dozen was plain. We requested and written on the order that we wanted; butterflies, ladybugs, bumblebees & caterpillars on them. They delivered them with icing and sprinkles. When I told Vonnie (the owner) that they were plain she said "there was no way they would have time to do them and that the gal that took our order told us that". First of all, she did not tell us that (I have a witness). What she said if they didn't have time they would call and let us know. She did not call. Vonnie just kept saying the gal told us they wouldn't have time - WOW since when do you call a customer a liar!!! She also stated that most people that order cupcakes for a Baby Shower order plain ones. I said I saw your website and you have lots of designs. She again stated that customers mostly ordered plain for a Baby Shower!!! Poor excuse.... 2. My wife went in to complain about the vanilla cupcakes were dry and tasteless - the salesperson said they had complaints about this baker before and she would probably credit us the 24 vanilla cupcakes. Vonnie said she felt them before the delivery and they were soft. Again I guess I'm a liar! 3. While I was on the phone with the "owner" I told her how disappointed I was in the vanilla cupcakes and HER lack of customer service, and I'd not use her again. She said "sorry you feel that way". Then said she had a customer and would call me back. The only reason I can think of to call me back was to apologize for her product and lack of respect for me as a customer. 4. All my neighbors unanimously suggested the cupcakes at Simply Delish. So I ordered two-dozen for 20+ guests. Now I am not a "desert" person but after I sampled just one of these treasures I immediately changed my order to three-dozen. Yvonne, the owner of Simply Delish is wonderful. We were trying to work with a bakery in Murphys for my daughter's September 1st wedding at Ironstone Vineyards. They were not getting back to us or anwering our questions after a month. So I searched for other cupcake bakeries near by and found Yvonne. I am so glad I did. Guess the other bakery did me a favor in the long run. Yvonne's cupcakes are delicious - we had 4 flavors and my favoritie are the Lemon Cake with Lemon filling and the Chocolate with raspberry filling. She was so enthusiastic and made me feel like our business was the most important thing going. Her decorations on the cupcakes were perfect - different for each flavor and she put a lot of work into them.
