I love Apple products, but the salesperson and the manager was SO, SO, SO insistent on purchasing the AppleCare. We told them no so many times that after about 20 mins and no obvious signs that we were going to get out any time soon we finally just said yes so we could leave. They knew what they were talking about BUT I don't like that kind of pressure. It makes me sick and turns customers off to the point where they will not return to the store. So I went in here to get a replacement battery for my iPhone 5 today, which Apple informed me I had coming. I walked in and was greeted warmly, and I didn't have to wait long. But then someone from the service department informed me that they couldn't replace my battery because it's store policy not to replace batteries for jailbroken phones or phones that have a replacement screen. That's all fine and good, but my phone has never been jailbroken and has never gotten the screen replaced. I told this to the employee, and he informed me that I was lying. This took me aback. I told him that, like most Americans, I haven't let my phone out of my sight in two years, and unless someone drugged me in my sleep specifically to jail break it or to give it a replacement screen -- which strikes me as unlikely? -- neither of those things had ever happened. As I held the hand of my two-year-old, he accused me of lying again. I don't even need a battery that urgently and am getting a new phone next month anyway. But I did not plan on spending my afternoon being repeatedly called a liar in front of my son. So, to sum up: If you go into the PeachMac in Athens, the employees will call you a liar in front of your children. Repeatedly. Store is as good as any other, but I've had mixed experiences with the tech help. I've been going to this peachmac for years and they will help with a lot of things, but not potentially expensive repairs or iffy warranty problems. They know what they are doing, but the actual Mac store 40 minutes away in the mall of Georgia is much much better for costumer support. Apple can be difficult to deal with when it comes to broken or intermediate problems so if recommend going to the source and not peachmac. For all other tech help needs go to this peachmac. To get products covered at apple and repairs done for free it's usually necessary to call in and talk to upper management. read more

Overall, a great store with a good selection, fair prices and a good location. I've always found the employees to be friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the products they offer. My only knock is that I've had to wait a while on several occasions to get help, which is no fault of the employees. Simply Mac Apple replaced my iPhone after you failed. Won't be back I highly do not recommend visiting this store

I have never been treated with such disrespect by a company in my life. After having complications with a repair done by simply mac, i returned to the store to be called a liar in the rudest, most unprofessional way. Rather than listening to the customers issue, they became defensive and accusatory saying there was no way that the damage was not my fault and that I was trying to scam them. Never once did I accuse them of breaking my computer, I just simply stated that it was incorrectly fixed. They threatened to use security camera footage on me saying that the computer looked good when I left (which it did) but the lazy repair caused further complications. The worker I was dealing with in particular, I did not catch his name, but he was so rude to me he made me cry. I will NEVER be returning to SimplyMac ever again. It's worth driving an hour to buford to avoid dealing with this miserable store. read more

I left my computer with Simply Mac for two and a half weeks; when I got it back, they'd changed several parts which were not malfunctioning but still hadn't fixed the original problem, which was that the laptop's keyboard and trackpad become nonresponsive if the computer is exposed to heat even for a short period of time. When I brought it in I told them that the same thing had happened the previous summer and that it had been fixed by replacing the battery. It was clear that the person processing the request didn't take that seriously, and lo and behold, the list of repairs indicates that they never tried replacing the battery. Furthermore, I called the store at least four or five different times to ask about the status of the repair. Not one time did someone answer the phone. I finally had to drive all the way out from my apartment and go in in person just to ask a question that could have been addressed on a two minute call. I was having problems with my Iphone and being under a time crunch I was unable to get to the apple store in Buford so I took my phone to PeachMac in Athens. The first time I went the technician told me to reset my phone and if I had problems they would replace it. After a week and still having problems I went back in and they replaced my Iphone for free with little to no hassle. So good job PeachMac. read more

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and felt comfortable just chatting with my service rep. he was honest and didn't try to up-sell on things I didn't need. I got an awesome mac and really felt taken care of. I'm not sure why so many people have had such horrible experiences there. Perhaps there's been some changing of the guard recently as most of the terrible reviews are from last year. I am a business owner, I have purchased three or four MacBook Pros (refurbished and new) from Simply MAC in Athens, GA. Each time I have purchased the warranty that they sell. Unfortunately we have had to use it and the first time they simply replaced the computer but the last time was in March of this year and they could not locate a replacement in a timely manner and it would have crippled my business so we bought a new machine assured that the warranty would cover $700 - $1000 of the expense when they processed it and sent a check. I have talked with the store's manager twice to check on the warranty because we have yet to see a check. She assured me she was on top of it and would get back to me. That was a month ago and I called last week and left a message with no return call. I am very disappointed in the way they've handled or NOT handled this case. I publish a magazine, perhaps my readers need to know my experience so they can decide where to purchase their next Apple computer. read more

I have been to Peachmac for service and sales. Service is far better than sales, because they do not require appointments, as does an Apple Store, and Peachmac makes an effort to save the customer money by checking to see if there is any extended warranty from Apple. Do not purchase a used computer, however. I have wasted time and a lot of gas with a laptop which has issues. Six weeks after the purchase, They would not even take it back in trade on a new machine. The sales staff seems to be unable to assist customers due to conducting "classes" for novice computer users. If granny needs someone to teach her how to use a Mac, then it might rate higher. read more

Summary: good service; limited selection. Despite decorating in the Apple aesthetic, PeachMac isn't affiliated with Apple other than being an authorized service center and retail partner. You can't buy iPhones, for example, as you could if this were an Apple store. And due to limited display space, they stock only a very limited variety of accessories like printers, monitors, and external drives. But the items for sale are a good compromise of price and ability. If you want a wide variety, you should look to the big box store and online options. While I've only used their service center twice, it was uneventful (which I consider a good thing). They did the job, and kept my machine for only a short period of time. And while I always hate paying anything for service, I think their prices were fair. WIthout an Apple Store in Athens, this is a very good alternative to some of the other chain stores and third party service people around. If the alternative is to drive to the Fry's or an Apple Store in Gwinnett, PeachMac does a very good job. read more

5 stars went down to two when I went in looking for a case srew for my wife's Macbook that she just bought from these folks not one month earlier. Their service dept said they had no screws (?!?!) and I should drive to the malloGA to go to the Apple store... no offer of "Hey, we'll get you one, just give us a day or a week or a month..." Felt rather dismissed by them and told to "go away, you're bothering me." Still everything is relative; I could be dealing with Dell. Update 8/23/12: Since earlier review, been contacted by Peachmac customer service to rmedy the situation. The whole screw(ed up) affair was most likely a miscommunication. Terrible customer service. Every time I go in there are several customers milling about looking for help. There are probably only two or three associates available to help. When they do finally acknowledge you they can never answer my questions. I took my old computer in there to see how much I could get for trade-in. They said it would take 24hrs. Went up there the next day they hadn't even taken it out of the box. They then said it'd take another 48 hrs. 48 hours to turn it on and run diagnostics. Forget it. I'll go to the Apple store where they know what they're doing instead of a teenager trying to help me. read more

I went to simply mac in hopes of getting my key cap replaced for my "O" key. They looked at it and said that is could be replaced no problem, it would arrive in 5-7 days... it took 2 WEEKS to get here and when I went in to get it replaced they told me they couldn't fix it. They said I would have to replace the WHOLE key board for $600. NO WAY. I did some research and ordered what I needed to fix my key for $3.00 and my key looks brand new and works great. If they couldn't repair my key they should have told me on my first visit. Very unhappy with this place. read more

This place is all about sales. Period. The "service" department is just a front for telling you why your device can't be fixed and you need to upgrade. If they do deign to fix, then you're looking at (A) a long wait for an appointment and (B) days' wait in the shop. Look at reviews in Google too. I went in for a quote on an iPhone repair to give to my insurance company before I got my phone replaced or repaired with them, and the technician acted like he had no idea what I was asking. He ran a diagnostic which failed and I asked if he could document that the diagnostic failed, which he did not. He printed out repair prices which could've been found online. I went in today to speak to a different technician and clarify what I needed but store was extremely busy. Really wish I could've gotten it right the first time. Didn't want to drive to mall of Georgia so I called these guys instead and asked if they have the same diagnostic equipment the Apple Store has. They said they did. Once in the store I explained my issue & signed in. After waiting for approx 30 minutes my names called. I explain my issue and am promptly told they don't have the diagnostic equipment the Apple Store has & I'll have to visit them or mail my phone off. Really guys? Tried to buy an IPad 4 mini today. They had one but could not figure out their own cash register software to bill me. Said it wouldn't add the Georgia tax. They literally did not know how to do it by hand and wouldn't let me buy it. A computer company that doesn't understand how to work it's own software, Can't say that gives me any confidence. Their answer was to have me come back another day, when maybe they'd have figure out how to sell me something. So I was supposed to be delayed and make two trips rather then them finding a way to make a sale. Customer service is not their forte. It doesn't exactly inspire confidence in their technical ability or problem solving. PeachMac was way better. They knew how to do a simple sale. read more

This has been my go-to place where I have bought all my electronics for YEARS. I have always had great experiences and incredible customer service. They have clearly gone downhill both in expertise and employees-- it was a different store today. The back story: I couldn't turn on my oldddd Mac so I thought it was fried and wanted to see if they had the magic touch or could somehow back up the hard drive. Without even looking at my computer, the tech quoted me over $100 to fix the issue and said it would take 5-7 days to do the hard drive I said... Can you look at my computer before you start quoting numbers? Of course it turned on when he tried-- the magic touch! I came prepared with my own hard drive (I bought there some years ago) and asked if he would be so kind to refresh my memory on copying it over. I am in my 20s and tech savvy, but he insisted on using the services and paying.... Okay, I am sorry, but I am not going to pay someone to copy and paste data. He rudely explained it, said he wasn't getting paid for his time (I'm confused, don't you work here) then proceeded to walk back to the check out counter and talk about the situation with his coworkers in front of me. My experience was personally non existent customer service. The staff was friendly enough but very unprofessional, literally no qualified knowledge of my particular Apple ipad mini. One guy behind the customer service counter who was wiping his nose with his hand and then handling the customer device and who was literally so rude that I will never go to that shop (supposedly we were lead to believe an Apple store) again. Literally after 4 trips, hours upon hours wasted performing suggested tips on employees who had no knowledge of the product, we called Apple direct......spoke with a gentleman who was all about customer service and appreciation......he scheduled a service call at the Mall Of Georgia Apple store.......we arrived.......was seen immediately at our scheduled time.......worked with a customer oriented, knowledgeable technician....and from the appointment time to the time of walking out of the store, with a brand new ipad, was 27 minutes. Unfortunately Simply Mac might be qualified to perform very minor repairs on various products but KNOW that they ARE NOT AN APPLE STORE, only Apple affiliated. The employees are not authorized or qualified to issue a replacement when they knew that the only answer for me was a replacement. They had me jump through hoop after hoop, I thinking they were the experts. Sadly for me I did not go straight to the top in the beginning. Horrifically terrible service. Employees were preoccupied with standing and chatting rather than helping customers or answering questions. I stood waiting for a 10 minute conversation to finish before anyone would even help me check out. Never mind answering my question about 85W vs. 45W MagSafe chargers... I had to google it to find out, because it was impossible to catch anyone's attention. When someone finally decided to come to the register so I could pay, he perfunctorily asked me if I had found everything alright. "Eventually yes," I replied. "But I had to ask all my product questions to the Internet..." The employee didn't even respond, just hastily scanned my items and handed me my receipt. I would understand a little better if they actually had something going on, but there were 5 employees and 3 customers including myself. It was ridiculous and I regret that they are my only choice in Athens to buy from. read more

Walked into Simply Mac to get a battery replaced for my Mac Air. The store's AC was not working, so with the afternoon sun coming in, it was a little warm. So then I am told it will be an hour wait and I could not leave or I would lose my place. I am not a youngster, so at this point, I am not very impressed. The hour wait turned into 2 hours. Finally, a tech comes out and take my Mac to the backroom...well, it seems I need to replace the battery. That means they will order the part and I will get a call in 3-5 working days. ARGH I am still waiting. This is the last time I will use Simply Mac and I may not buy another apple product if this is the best service I can get in Athens. read more

AMAZING service! They were very busy when I went in so I had to wait about 15 minutes to be seen. My mac had a problem with a recall part and they fixed it for free. They said they were backed up so it could take 5-7 business days and ended up finding time to fix it within a few hours. I brought my iPhone in today after being told by the sprint people that my phone was a lost cause (it was stuck on the apple logo for hours and would not start up no matter what). I didn't get the name of the tall gentleman that helped me but for 20 bucks he did a factory reset and my phone was as good as new in 20 minutes! I went to Simply Mac (formerly Peach Mac) last weekend with an iPhone that wouldn't start up, despite a night of charging. Even though there was only 1 other group of customers and 4-5 staff members that seemingly had nothing to do (they were just sitting around the desk on their phones and joking around), it still took around 20 minutes to get a service technician to look at my phone and talk to me. When she first took my phone, she sarcastically said to her co-worker "have they tried turning it off and on", which wasn't helpful. 20 minutes later, she came out told me that my phone was damaged (didn't say how it was damaged) and that my best bet was to order a new phone out of warranty for $299. She said she could open it up and see if there are any other issues that could be causing it to act up but it wouldn't do much good. While I was waiting to get my phone back, a different sales rep came up to me and started talk to me about how my phone was water damaged.... even though the original service technician didn't tell me that and that she wasn't going to open it up (???). He offered to look up my account to see if I was eligible for an upgrade from my carrier. I decided that I wasn't comfortable giving a third party business my account information, so I just asked for my phone back. After a few minutes, he asked if he could speak to me privately. He then showed me a phone with a huge crack in the screen. "That can't be my phone, my screen isn't cracked" I thought, but I then learned that one of the service technicians cracked the screen while trying to close it (even though they weren't even supposed to open it in the first place???). While the sales guy was apologetic (I never got an apology from the actual service technician who broke it), he still refused to fix the screen because the phone was already damaged and out of warranty. While this may be the policy of the business, I still find this carelessness EXTREMELY unprofessional. I came here with a phone that wouldn't turn on, looking for answers, and all I got was an hour of wasted time, poor customer service and communication, and a phone that still wouldn't turn on and a severely cracked screen (like cut-your-fingers cracked). I will not be returning here and have already told my friends to avoid this business. read more

I had a great experience at PeachMac Athens yesterday. Walked in, immediately greeted by a helpful staff member who listened to my needs and directed me to a gentleman in the service center. Quickly diagnosed my computer's problem, was so patient explaining it to me (I'm not super computer savvy- I just want it to do what I want it to do), and told me all my options and pricing ranges before doing anything to my machine. In the end, 15 minutes of installation and a tutorial on how to order the system upgrade I needed. The service was the best part- so nice, not intimidating, and didn't try to upsell me. PeachMac is an unnecessary layer- Go direct to Apple you'll end up there anyway. I've been a very long time Apple client; iPods, Macs, MacBooks, Airports, iPads, iPhones. Got them all and bought them all from Apple... until recently when I decided to go to PeachMac. Still not sure why but was curious and somehow thought the experience would be better or there would be some benefit. The purchase experience was uneventful and painless. I asked questions and the salesman agreed with whatever I said. Eventually I realized I needed to decide for myself so I called my son and he told me what his opinion was and why and I bought that one. After purchasing it I soon noticed a problem with the keyboard. So decided to try PeachMac for service. Took it in on Saturday, got straight to a PeachMac Person (no idea what her specialty was?) she agreed it doesn't feel right and said the technician would come in on Tuesday, they already had a long list so I should expect 3-4 days from Tuesday to get it back. So I called Apple today; they can take it in at 1:45 and feel confident they will have it turned around and back to me by end of day. So although I'm not out anything, because I still get full Apple care and service. That has nothing to do with PeachMac. I paid the same, received the same, and in the end I will rely on Apple. PeachMac really has no benefit or purpose but to be an unnecessary and optional layer. Maybe after it is out of Apple Care I will find a value for them- But for now I would advise anyone- Suck it up, brave the Mall Traffic, and go to the direct experts. I will from now on. read more

Bought a laptop from here and it sopped working the next day. Came back to the store and it took an entire hour after being checked in to be seen. I asked multiple times what was going on and I was "next in line" for what seemed like eternity. Almost asked to reimburse me for the laptop so I could go buy an hp. Wow read more

I would say my experience here was just average. Their customer service definitely isn't the best. I had to drop off my computer for a repair and thought I just had to stand in line at the service counter. After waiting about 15 minutes, I was able to speak to the guy at the counter who then informed me I had to put my name on a list with an employee in the front room. I then had to wait an additional 20 minutes. It wasn't a big deal, but I was kind of annoyed someone didn't tell me this when they saw me walk in with a laptop. On the bright side, they can fix whatever problems you're having fairly quickly and are great a helping you find the most affordable solution. read more
