I took the car away from there and called this place in McKinleyville. They said they'd call me back and when they did call me back, they already knew what might be wrong. I dropped the car off and they fixed it the next day. I know these places change staff. This review is about the current situation as of May 2023. They have a pretty good service center right now.

"Just leave a note on it, it'll be fine." I had no other real options, so I banked on Humboldt hospitality and did exactly that. The tow truck dumped my car in the parking lot at 12:30am. I left a note on the windshield that started with "Your homie in an e28 said I could leave the car here". I came back in the morning (these dudes work from 8am to 6pm, EVERY DAY), and we put together a parts list and a plan. It took 4 days to get all the parts in, but the instant they all arrived Riley and Ricky started right on it. Both nights they stayed after 6 to make sure I got back home on schedule. Great guys!

The employee informed me that at that time they would have done a full inspection and that it may not be necessary for me to spend the money to do it again. He checked how many miles I had left before I needed an oil change, and how many months before I needed an oil change. He said it was not necessary for me to do the inspection unless I wanted to, but it would save me $80 to wait until my truck needed an oil change. I think this shop cares more about return business than it does a short-term money-making scheme that tries to get people to pay for unnecessary work. I will continue to bring my truck here as long as I live in Arcata.
