We were planning on driving out to Copper Mountain and running a little late, so we were in need of some food to eat in the car. Simply Thai conveniently happened to be on the way out of town and we stopped by for some takeout. Decent Thai food. I ordered the Singapore Noodles, and also tried the Pad Thai. Both dishes were pretty good, though the pad thai was a little on the sweet side. The noodle dishes (or possibly all dishes) come with rice, which is unusual but nice. They also have boba, which was a mixed bag. I tried the taro and milk tea bobas. I thought that the taro flavoring was great and the tapiocas were fairly good, though the drinks were a little icy and the milk tea was really sweet. read more

Maybe I came on a bad day, because I felt that Simply Thai was simply awful. I ordered Tom Ka Gai and it was baaaaad. I really love Thai food, and this was the worst I've ever had. It was like they emptied every bottle of fish sauce they had into my soup and then added way too much sugar. It was sooooooo sweet and smelled foul. I brought it to a friend's house (who regularly makes me the best pad thai and who REALLY enjoys thai food himself) and he actually asked me to close it or put it outside because of how bad it smelled. I need to start this review as such so that there is no confusion: great food, great staff, love it, keep doing what you're doing. I don't want anyone to get confused by the weird way I may use to get to that point moving forward. I am new to town, been here for six months. I've tried the handful of Thai places that Larimer county has to offer and been sorely disappointed by each. My dish? Pad Kee Mao. My experience in FoCo so far? Lackluster, at best. Simply Thai was recommended by a friend originally from Michigan, so right off the bat, I didn't trust it. In a parking lot next to a gym? Don't trust it. Menu on the wall behind your counter but you actually take orders at the table? Don't trust it. Offer me a side of rice with my noodle dish? Don't trust it. So glad I went for it anyway! You guys showed up, for sure! Pad Kee Mao, drop the tomatoes (because they gross me out), and you presented a non-greasy but delicious dish that was made to make me come back. I don't know how anyone is reviewing you with less than four stars, especially considering your terrible competition, but you all have turned into my go-to Thai joint, if not just my go-to "must have" restaurant. Over the last few months, we've been watching the the price of food go up. The rise of gas prices, the environmental catastrophes on the farms like hail storms and tornadoes, increasing labor costs - all of it contributes to the price we pay in the grocery stores and the price we see on restaurant menus. We're noticing that low-quality fast-food is at an affordable price, but finding better quality with freshness and flavor at the same cost is almost impossible. Almost. Simply Thai is a small family-owned business that is filling that fresh and affordable void in Fort Collins. Owned by the Sunti family, the Fort Collins location on Drake and Shields by Raintree Athletic Club is actually their second store. Their first Simply Thai opened last year in Windsor, and then they opened the Fort Collins location in early March of 2011. I'm thrilled that instead of another Mexican restaurant, burger joint, or pizza parlor, Fort Collins is embracing some ethnicity with the addition of another Thai eatery. We stopped by as a family for dinner after The Preschooler's taekwondo class that is just right around the corner of the complex. The restaurant is simple and small, with bright green walls and a large menu board similar to a fast-casual restaurant. It's a bit confusing if you haven't been before, because your initial reaction is to order at the counter. But, you sit for full service and the menu board is for the take-out crowd. There are so many fabulous items on the menu that even though I think there are other better Thai places in town, I'd love to keep coming back for more. They are a welcomed addition to the Fort Collins food scene, when we so desperately need more variety. We may be seeing the price of good food rise around the country, and it's becoming impossible to match reasonable price with quality, but Simply Thai feeds you very, very well for the cost of an elementary school kids' weekly allowance. read more

I love their food here, but the service is seriously lacking. Usually they're nice and friendly to me, but tonight was the SECOND night that I've been left waiting in their restaurant because they screwed up my order. I brought someone else's food home, then when I realized my mistake, I called them from my house fifteen minutes away and told them what happened. They said no problem and they'd have my food ready. WRONG. When I got to their restaurant, the girl up front hadn't put my order in and therefore I had to wait another thirty minutes for them to get their act together. I wasn't even offered a free appetizer, a soda, nothing. I paid $15.00 to come home to cold wontons and to wait an hour and a half for pad thai that they said would be ready in fifteen minutes. Not sure when I'll come back. There are other thai places in Fort Collins that will probably treat their customers a little bit better! read more

3.5 stars. The spring rolls which Steve and I ordered were tasty but were not a standout. Ditto for the mangos and sticky rice. The mangos looked under ripe and tasted so but the sticky rice was good. Probably what really gave Simply Thai feasibility for me was their ginger stir fry I had with chicken. Excellent! That is one thing I would definitely recommend if you choose to go here. Staff is fairly friendly and the service is fast. One of the waitresses little toddler was there. Instead of her being an annoyance she gave Steve and I menus and sat with some other diners, just hanging out. Later she was running up and down the cushioned seats in the place. As the Thai restaurant closest in proximity to my home, it's a convenient stop for takeout when I am on my way home from work. It doesn't have the broadest or most unique selection of dishes, but you will find your standard dishes -- spring rolls, pad thai, green curry -- all competently executed. Stir fry dishes are conveniently named for the dominant flavor (e.g. gingery, garlic, etc.) rather than by the Thai names for the dishes. Spicing is modest, so ask for hotter than you think you should. While I do enjoy a little heat I don't really have a very high tolerance, and their "hot" (level 3) spice level was barely discernible. The hubby and I wanted to order Thai while visiting my sis-in-law from IL. Last time I had Thai food was actually IN Thailand, so my expectations weren't extremely high. We had the green curry w/tofu, pad see ew, pad thai, and spring rolls. Spring rolls were good. The green curry was very authentic. I was really happy with that. The "A-OK" description of what 3 stars is a perfect way to describe Simply Thai. It is, as its namesake suggests, simple. Prices are pretty good, but in terms of the food, it is on par with most other thai places in the area. I was a bit disappointed with the spice scale. On a 1-5 system, I thought "3" would mean pretty spicy. My sesame chicken special ended up more sweet than spicy. Still, it's competent food -- just not the best. There are other alternatives in the area priced similarly that does it better. But still, this isn't bad. read more

After moving to FoCo last year I've been on a hunt for decent Thai. So far this place is my favorite of the restaurants in FoCo, I've gone here probably 5-6 times now so I thought it was time to share. :) The food itself has consistently been excellent, fresh and well prepared. Spice level is appropriate for Thai food, I haven't found it to be bland, even when I ordered the pad Thai "mild". The herbs and seasonings are good, not overly salty like one of the other places in town. Love the curries!! Prices are fair, portions are big enough to share, and they do not skimp on meat (I'd ask for more veggies on many dishes though). The other major contender in town, Cafe De Bankok a few blocks north on Elizabeth St, falls short in many of these points, though it is also pretty tasty, so I find myself choosing Simply Thai time and again instead. Others here have complained about bad service - but I have never been treated poorly, the service we have received has been excellent and attentive. Simple, tasty, large portions, great service. The food arrived really fast. I ordered the Golden Cashew and did not wait more than 5 minutes. The dish is not small and was very tasty. Word of caution, hot means hot. I'm used to order hot (spicy) meals and have a good tolerance. This time was no different. I ordered the "hot" spice and was very surprised to find it really hot. The number one reason why I gave this place four stars is that the food got here fast. The estimated time was an hour (which made me :-( because I'm pregnant and really wanted pad thai), and it came in 20 minutes. That's the fastest delivery I've gotten in a really long time. As for the food, it's pretty good. I've had better, but I've had far worse. For take-out it's good. If I wanted really good food I would have gone to a restaurant and paid way more, but that's not something I felt like doing. I do like their food much more than Lulu's. Oh, and another reason why I'm for them. Online ordering! I really don't like ordering over the phone and avoid it at all costs. Coming from someone who's familiar with the Thai cuisine i'd say the food was just ok. Nothing to get excited over or ever come back for. What really ruined the experience was the service. We should have gotten the hint and left when we heard two separate tables near us complain about the waitress but we were starving and tired and wanted food asap (big regret). After our initial drink orders were dropped we were ignored for at least 15 minutes... our waitress was no where to be found. Finally she came out of hiding and quickly used the "oh sorry I was busy running around, we've been busy" excuse when really there were only 2 other tables, split by her and another server and we had a clear view of the restaurant and she was definitely not running around. Pissed but desperate for food we stayed and ordered chicken curry & chicken pad thai. Our curry came out with no chicken and pad thai with no flavor. And of course our server was MIA again. By the time she came back on the floor we waved her down to tell her our food came with no meat. Instead of just taking initiative by taking it back and getting a new order in she hesitated & asked us what we wanted her to do. Really?! Fast forward a little, we got served a side of boiled meat to throw into the curry...YUM. :| To avoid anymore opportunities for our server to hide we asked for our check so we could get out of there asap. To complete our horrible service experience our check came and was about $24 and a few cents. My boyfriend gave her $30 and we got back $4, just a few dollars short of what we were owed!! Maybe it was an off night for them, but still not a good enough excuse for me. Decent prices. Good food. Their pad see ew is made with regular (American) broccoli which i prefer, instead of the more tradition Chinese Broccoli (which is a bit bitter). Servers are great! Nice environment. They even have boba (tapioca), but they serve it with slush which compromises the integrity of the boba. I asked for the boba on the side and made milk tea at home :) Texture of the boba is pretty good. I'm impressed. Negative: Menu clearly states discount with student ID for drinks, but they said the promotion is over. I've been there once after and the menu hasn't changed. read more

Realize I placed order for pickup. Sigh. I work in eCommerce, so my opinion on how easy a web site is to use is qualified. I actually then tried to place an order for delivery. No go. Like, it's not an option. Whatever. I've already tipped. Yes, I tip YOU all the time so I can go get my own food. Whatever. Get to the restaurant and their web estimate of 15 minutes? Out the window. Orders are backed up. So their tables are full ... Of people waiting to pick up their own food. How, I wonder, is this place still in business? Maybe it will get better. I hope so. It's close to home, but after a few mediocre experiences, I'm not sure I'll be loyal to this joint. Update: Discovered Cafe de Bangkok, Sri Thai and Bann Thai. While visiting my family in Fort Collins, we took the while group out to Simply Thai because it was close, fast, and just what my husband was craving. The red curry was indeed absolutely delicious. Everyone else liked their dishes, although I'm not sure we'd say they were standout awesome. It was solid thai food. I got the Singapore noodles, which you can't always find at a Thai place (considering it's Singaporean), but I really enjoy having a few southeast Asian options that you can't get elsewhere. They also do boba tea and you can get a student discount on a lot of their drinks if you come with an ID. If I lived in the area, I'd be back. read more

I had the Phanaeng curry with chicken, it was very good. The coconut flavored broth was great with the unique flavors of the curry. The chicken wasn't over cooked, which can be a problem at some Thai restaurants. I also like Thai restaurants that offer spiciness on a scale. I did a 4 out of 5 hotness, learned from experiences not to always go straight to the top. The heat was great, it didn't over take the flavors, but still had a good strong kick. We tried "Simply Thai" early afternoon for the first time. I ordered the orange Chicken on Jasmin Rice....i selected mild spice. The battered Chicken bites were flavorless soft textured...the sauce was viscous mildly sweet and other wise bland. The abundant sliced carrots, Broccoli, and green...red....yellow peppers were almost raw. The Jasmin Rice had been freshly prepare several hours before and was very dry. My husband selected a breaded chicken patty with vegies dreadged in aheavy clear "Sauce"..kinda sweet. He asked for medium spicey.... Again it dish was flavorless and bland. The sweet perky waitress brought and condiment carrier that contained Soy sauce...pepper flakes....a pepper liquid....and some other liquid.. None of these items improved the foods flavor and the containers where sticky....and unwashed. We were offered Miso and spring roll "for a dollar". The Miso was oddly flavored and the tiny spring roll was dripping oil. What a disappointing experiance...... We'll never return to "Simply Thai" for a $30.00 lunch. read more

The food here is really good with a wide variety of dishes and spice levels. The staff is very nice and make an effort to remember their customers. Sometimes the service can be a bit slow but is generally quite quick. A suggestion skip the orange chicken and the barbeque chicken, they are genetic and kinda blah. I come here often for lunch even knowing that service is haphazardly adequate. The owners do not staff the floor with ample help. Sometimes there's one server, sometimes two. For a restaurant that has 15+ tables and a lot of to-go orders (phone calls & pick-ups) this is not enough to ensure good or even average service. I feel bad for the servers because they're always running around trying to keep up which is a lost cause. The food is decent - the Pad Se Ew is delicious and the coconut rice is great as well. I am very disappointed that they took the Pad Se Ew off of the lunch special because now it is about $10 for the same portion at lunch. Hopefully the owner will get a clue and start staffing the front of house appropriately. If not, they'll burn through their staff and their customer base. read more

I love it here, and it's seriously underrated in my opinion. The food is fresh and good quality and the portion sizes are nice. My sons love the sesame chicken, the curries are all awesome, and the summer rolls are to die for! I make a meal of them! They're thick and full of fresh lettuce and mint and carrots and you can choose prawn or tofu as well. Online ordering to go there is a breeze and its what I always do. This place is garbage. Walked in Saturday at 8:30 group of two then another couple came in right behind us. They said they are not accepting dine in orders unless its take out. Well guess what, you close at 9pm not 8:30!!! Screw them as they declined my business and tip. And yes I guarantee I would of spent at least $30 here and $10 tip.
