I began to work directly with Chris Simpson a couple of months ago, meeting him as my wife and I were reviewing the boat listings on the window of his office, right on the boardwalk in Discovery Bay. He came out, introduced himself and we volunteered what we are looking for and what our price range was. He mentioned that he should be seeing a few boats that would meet our criteria shortly. In the interim, I found another boat for sale by a private party and asked him if he would be able to step in (since I did not want to handle the registration, DMV transfer, etc.). Surprisingly enough, Chris informed me that he would "love" to help me out but did not feel comfortable collecting any fees. How often does that happen? The same day I happened to be walking by his office to thank him for his very generous offer of good faith (I decided against the private party boat anyway), he mentioned that he may have a boat that would meet my needs. Needless to say, I made an offer for the boat, and we are not talking about an expensive boat either. The offer was countered, accepted and the sale process ended up taking up longer than we both expected, primarily due to me requesting a survey and then waiting on a couple of parts to complete some minor repairs. During the process, Chris was incredibly patient, listened to all of our needs, and was very personable and very professional . To net the whole process out, Chris helped guide us to the proper boat, worked flawlessly for the seller and buyer to make the entire transaction and process very valuable to both the buyer (us) and the seller, literally did everything to make our lives simple and lastly, came over to my house (well after the "sale" was closed) to install my Bimini top that neither of us could figure out how to do earlier.
