I've become responsible for a Hoarder House. My hoarder loves dumpster diving and bringing home pieces of metal to keep in the yard. I load up the pickup and drop off the metal rubble at Sims on Industrial because they have a Donations dumpster conveniently located up front. Every time I visit, a pleasant smiling man sees this little old lady hard at work and offers to help me. Their customer service is something to cheer a person up. read more

I had some copper from a plumbing remodel and the pricing was fair. The workers were all very helpful and kind, directing me to a location that buys back aluminum cans. What really stands out about the people working at this location is their willingness to help when my car would not start following my transaction. They tried with a couple of different pieces of heavy equipment and heavy duty cables, to no avail. Very friendly and went out of their way to get me on my way, even after they closed and their shifts ended. I am grateful for the kindness of the people working here. read more

My co-worker, and I, came to this facility to recycle some end-of-life equipment. Since this facility accepted it without us having to pay for disposal, we gladly waited in the line to enter the yard - a little patience was needed because they only have one lane to enter and exit the yard. When entering the yard, they told us that we needed to wear hardhats, and told us to use the ones they had on a shelf by the entrance. If I had known about this requirement, I would have bought my own. Once properly hatted, we offloaded our items under a canopy, which reminded me of a circus tent. Afterwards, we got back into our van and drive to the line for the exit, which was another test of patience. There really wasn't much contact with the workers there. This just told us the place to go to and reminded us of the hat rule. It was basically self-disposal and patience to get in and out! I would return again in for disposal of used machinery because they do not charge us! Also, McDonald's is across the street from this facility - great place for a nice cup of coffee after this visit to the yard! read more

This place is a rip off!! I cant believe these people i was just ripped off by them. I had a aluminum awning and they only paid 120 lbs of it. It was at least double 120 lbs!! They said i could reload it and they would weigh it again we dont have time for this bullshit so we just got paid on the 120lbs they were not even busy there is no excuse why they didnt write the weight down. The employees must be pocketing the difference. I will never come back here ever again. Horrible company!!! read more

First: This review is for the Redwood City Seaport Blvd location. My husband is a small contractor and was sick of PAYING to dump water heaters and appliances at the local dumps. Another contractor friend recommended trying Sims. He's been going for a while now...but last week I got to tag along! It was so FUN! (Granted, the dumps is one of my favorite places to go...EVER!) The men were super friendly, dumping of small appliances is free and if you bring scrap metal a ton at a time they pay you! I even got a PINK hardhat to wear while I watched the men upload the van. It was a good experience. You even get to drive through a NUCLEAR WASTE detector. So high tech! read more

They've definitely cleaned this place up recently! Fresh paint, better prices, and the employees are friendly. If you're recycling more than cans and bottles be prepared to have your ID. I feel very comfortable recycling here because you can tell they follow the law. When I first went here they were more than willing to show me the ropes, it made for a very comfortable first visit. Fast and good system. Go to dump out cans and bottles in machines first. Then being tickets to lady in another station to sign. Then bring to an ATM-like machine for payout. Don't need to unscrew bottle caps, but separate glass bottles by color. read more

Excellent place to recycle CRV cans, glass and plastic bottles. After Safeway shutdown their's and Lucky's took almost an hour, this place is 5 stars as it took only 10 minutes! Only two people in line on a Tuesday afternoon, unlike the other's where you might be fifth or sixth in line. I found the scanner a little hard to read my ticket, but got it on the third try and there's $37.00 @ $2/lb which is pretty good! read more

The cement speed bump at their entrance is too high and can easily damage the bottom of your vehicle unless you go EXTREMELY slow and angle your car to avoid damage. Once inside the overall service is very good. read more

Its a good place to sell your recyclings,but i am little concern about the way they weigh your items,and the accuracy of weight is questionable,the empty containers are not confirmed and you dont know how they charging you...and the Spanish Guy on the scale has big attitude as well..using the excuse of NO ENGLISH...and will do as he want to do...and off course you are not paid by the actual weight of your items....Please shop around always..... read more
