This place gives you back way more money then the other recycling place that's only 2 blocks away by Mi Pueblo.

Are they open for service though the covid?

I called them last month. They are not open through the covid. The gentleman who answered my call told me they will probably be opened in September. However, he did give me the name of another recycling business, Cash For Cans which is located at…

It was nice to see that there was a new recycling center in alameda. I thought they were all gone…read morewhen rePlanet closed several years ago. Jado Recycling took over the exact same spot rePlanet use to be at. Their setup was the same except they required you to remove all caps from your bottles. I remember rePlanet didn't make you do that. I went in the afternoon and the line was long. There were 2 people working so everything moved along a little bit quicker than I expected. One person checked if you had the right containers that was eligible to get your money back and the other person weighed your containers and payed you on the spot. There wasn't a lot of talking but some loud Mexican music blasting from a speaker. Make sure you separate all your cans, plastics bottles, glass bottles and everything else. The trash bins that they had you put your containers in weren't the cleanest. Some people wore gloves but I made sure to have some hand sanitizer ready in my car when I was done.

You first sort your bottles and cans into the garbage cans provided. Then, a staff member weighs your items and pays you in cash. The garbage cans provided are kind of grungy, so I always wear gloves. It's worth it for me to drive from Oakland to Alameda to recycling my cans and bottles. It's a win-win situation! Your discarded cans and bottles get recycled for other purposes and you get a little cash for your efforts.

On some school e-waste collection events, they even wanted to charge me $10 or $20 for bringing them the junks...no thank you. I was paid $0.35/lb for computers (59 lb) and $0.11/lb for the TV (44 lb). I collect a bit over $25 for the e-waste, which is pretty good. Actually, I brought in two 40 inch LCD TVs and another customer at the parking lot asked to purchase one TV for $10 thinking of trying to repair it. Overall, it's a great experience. Customer service was quick and friendly.

Not only was he cursing at me, but he also called me a "dick," which is completely unacceptable behavior for someone running a business. To make matters worse, I was instructed to unload and move my own pallet of batteries for recycling. After I had already done the work, I was suddenly told I couldn't continue because I was wearing Birkenstocks. If that was actually a safety policy, one of the employees could have easily told me before I started unloading instead of waiting until I was finished. When I was told I had to wait in my car, I simply walked over to my vehicle, and the owner continued insulting me by calling me a "dick" as I left. Customer service and basic professionalism were completely absent. There are plenty of other recycling businesses that treat their customers with respect. I would definitely recommend taking your business elsewhere.
