This may not be true during rush hour, but I found Shell to be an easy in and out. There are pumps on both sides with the store in the middle, bathrooms on one side and air on the other. The store was pretty clean and well faced. They did have a older looking Amerindian statue outside, I assume because of the large collection of smoke products inside. They also had beanie babies? I loved the ice cream machine, and if I drank it, would probably appreciate the coffee machine. There does not seem to be a restroom inside the shop itself. read more

Simsbury Shell is located on a very busy 4-way intersection where Route 202/44 (Albany Turnpike) crosses Bushy Hill Road (Route 167). This is in the heart of the crowded suburban megaplex on the Simsbury-Avon line. There are huge driveways on both sides of Shell's corner lot, so getting in and out is never a problem. They have quite a few gas pumps, so I've never really had to wait to gas up here. Gas in Simsbury is expensive everywhere, sometimes a 25-cent piece more than what you find on the Berlin Tpk. So it's a given that gas here is going to be expensive, but not a penny more than the equally expensive Mobil across the street. Which makes me think, wouldn't it be sweet if these 2 got into a price war instead of playing footsie with each other? You can save a few bucks with your Stop and Shop points, you have to slide in your Stop and Shop card before your credit card, and the price per gallon will drop. Mine dropped 20 cents this morning. So the price of gas is at the local market rate, there are tons of pumps, the place has easy access and egress. And unlike the prior review, I never had a problem with a malfunctioning gas pump. Also unlike the prior review, I would not call the guys who work there "clowns". I've always found them to be courteous and helpful. The convenience store inside is pretty good as convenience stores go, Good place for a newspaper, soft drink, maybe a lottery ticket. All in all -the total picture of "A-OK". read more

After spending $120 filling my massive truck with Premium fuel, I went inside to buy a drink. I grabbed a soda, brought it to the counter, and began paying for it. The total was $1.29. I inserted my card in the reader and, just before I tapped the "okay" button, re reached around the cash register, SNATCHED my card from the chip reader, and proclaimed "FIVE DOLLAR MINIMUM!" Needless to say, I left the drink and will never be back. read more

Please don't waste your time or money at this gas station! Their prices are always 10+ cents higher than the gas stations a few minutes east on 44. My husband stopped here over the weekend to fill his tank only to end up (unknown to us) using a broken pump. The pump didn't stop when his tank was full and 2-3 gallons ended up spilling on the ground. The guys who 'helped' us were more concerned with gas getting on future customers' tires (!!) than with our car AND they didn't address the $3.75/gallon they owed him. Not worth our time to deal with these clowns - we will not be back. If you insist on overpaying for gas, there is a mobil station that is literally across the street. read more

Total crooks at this business. They deliberately set up the pumps not to give customers their deserved Stop & Shop Rewards. This happens every time. The workers are also unbelievably rude. This gas station is absolutely horrible I went to fill gas and my card wasn't working and so I try my other card and again not working then I go to a different pump and try to do it and once again doesn't work I went to the gas station across the street then worked perfectly fine I believe the owner is too cheap to fix his gas pumps and is trying to save money read more

A good place to get gas if you're driving to or from stop and shop. They have air, vacuums and a nice little convenient store.

I always saved some money with my Stop & Shop points besides they have beautiful store and they have everything you need besides the premium cigar they have nice and beautiful selection you won't see it at any other gas station the guys behind the counter they have nice attitude and very polite and helpful read more

I live down the street from this station and each time I go my card never works at the pump. I use a different card, it's declined, I use another card, it's declined. I go inside and I ask the attendant what the problem is and he just stares at me. He asks how much do you want on pump 12? I say "why doesn't my card work when I come here?" No answer. I use the same card I tried to use at the pump at the counter and there's no problem. He say's "do you want to fill it?" I said "no, not anymore." and I hit cancel and walk out. Mean while, there are 2 other customers who pull in about the same time that have no problems! This is not the 1st time, this is not the 2nd time, it's not even the 3rd time. It is the last time. BTW, I'm a 55 year old black man who does very well for himself that has worked hard to get where I am. And no matter how well you do, you will always be first and foremost, a color. The worst customer service ever. I'm 19 years old and went in last night to buy mango pods. I've bought pods several times before from here and other gas stations with no problem. But last night the guy at the counter thought my REAL DMV ISSUED LICENSE THAT SAYS IM 19 WAS FAKE. I told him it was real and he said "I know a fake when I see one". Who gets a fake to say they're 19 from Canton, the town right next to Avon?!?! He asked for another form of ID. I pulled out my UConn college ID and my MIT employee ID which wasn't good enough for him. Sorry I don't carry my passport on me when I go to buy pods! I started to get annoyed and didn't know how to convince him it was real. My friend could obviously tell I was upset and told him "she's had a rough day already" and he proceeds to mock me. He goes "ohhh nooo you've had a rough day?? Poor baby". Sensing my frustration with the idiocracy coming from behind the counter, he thought the appropriate customer service thing to do was say "aw don't get emotional now". Obviously I'm extremely upset trying to convince this guy my real DMV issued license isn't a fake and the taunting and teasing wasn't helping. He was unnecessarily a complete jerk to me and my friend all over a pack of pods that cost $17.01. After debating whether or not to take my license away, despite it being REAL, he rudely says "give me $17.01". I paid and as we walked out he goes "have a nice night" in the rudest, most sarcastic tone ever. I COULD NOT believe the rudeness I experienced here last night. I will NEVER be coming here again and I worn you they don't believe real licenses are real. Trying to buy a pack of cigarettes? Good luck.
