BUYER BEWARE (It looks as though we are not the only one with a similar problem)…read more To keep this simple and without emotion, I will summarize our purchase: - 14 months since purchase (the vehicle is officially 'dead') - $10,000+ : What we paid for our family of five. - $13,000+ : In REPAIRS - $9,500: The final estimate the Toyota dealership gave us to replace the engine and basically 'start over'. Our issues began *days* after the 90 day warranty. To quote the dealerships reply: "You're problem. Not ours." We have cases open with the Attorney General's office, a complaint has been filed with the BBB, and we will continue to share our experience through every review we can find. PLEASE - if you have a similar story, file complaints to the offices mentioned above.

On June 6,2022 I went to Performance Auto in Jessup, Md for a complaint of no air conditioning in…read moremy car. The company charged me $89.95 diagnostic fee and advised me in writing that the problem was low on refrigerant due to the compressor leaking; needing replacement. Nothing was mentioned about any other repairs being needed. On June 10, 2022 I returned and authorized the repairs on my car and upon completion of the work, went home to find the repairs not fixing the problem. I subsequently called Performance back and told them that it is not fixed and arranged to come back on June 13th and waited approximately two hours for them to fix it. When I got the car back and drove home, it was evident that the unit was still not blowing cold air and called them back and brought my car back in on June 16th and again on June 30th. Spending all total about 8 hours of my time waiting for PROPER repairs to be made. Never being told what was wrong at any time no given a receipt for what repairs were made after the compressor work was done. Finally, I sent an email on July 2nd to them and followed up Tuesday July 5th with a phone call where I talked to the dispatcher and told her that I want my money back and I don't have confidence in the shop. Now they say because the car is old the system should be replaced but they can not state specifically what is wrong. When it was cooler out there was slight cool air at first. Now it is HOT air. Beware of this company as this is highly unethical and unprofessional and not the way customers should be treated. When you give an estimate to fix something, EVERYTHING should be in the estimate; not coming in after the fact and try to b.s. your way through a botched repair.

The car buying process was so easy. This location also has a nice selection of cars to choose from. Abu greeted us immediately and was able to help us get everything done. He was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great and memorable experience.

Do not buy a car from CarMax Laurel…read more Last month, my husband and I purchased a 2025 VW Atlas Crossport from this location after paying to have it transferred from the Dulles, VA store. One of the biggest selling points was that, despite being used, the car looked nearly brand new. Two days after purchasing it, we took the vehicle to our local mechanic for a multipoint inspection. CarMax told us that although they inspect vehicles transferred from other locations, they are not obligated to share the inspection results or disclose any maintenance or repairs performed before the sale. They couldn't even confirm whether the car had received an oil change. Our mechanic identified a few maintenance items that should have been addressed before the vehicle was sold. We brought the car and the report back to CarMax, and they agreed to complete the repairs at no cost. A few days later, when we returned to pick up the vehicle, we immediately noticed multiple scratches that were not there when we purchased it. Some were several inches long and had gone through the clear coat. A service technician acknowledged the damage and suggested it was probably caused by the car wash they use, as if this was a common occurrence. We were told the scratches could be touched up and would no longer be noticeable. After yet another trip to the dealership, the scratches were still obvious. We spoke with the service manager and requested compensation for the damage that occurred while the car was in their possession. They offered to explore repainting the affected panels, but admitted that matching the color perfectly would be difficult and could potentially make the appearance worse. They refused to provide any financial reimbursement, stating that because the vehicle was already used, they could buy it back and resell it for the same price we paid. CarMax acknowledged that the damage occurred while the vehicle was in their care, yet they refused to compensate us for the diminished value of the vehicle or for the repeated inconvenience of multiple trips back to the dealership. The entire experience made it clear that once the sale is completed, customer satisfaction takes a back seat. Save yourself the frustration and buy from a dealership that values accountability and customer service--not just closing a transaction.

I bought a late…read moremodel Honda hybrid from VIPRE, and have had decent luck with it, but the few times I brought it into them, the bill was always near or above $1,000. In one instance, they charged me $1,200 to replace ONE headlight, and they didn't even fix it correctly- I had to bring it back in because the mechanic hadn't replaced the "igniter". The other headlight went out 2 months later, so I took it to a recommended moonlighter mechanic- he fixed the set-up without fuss for $200, and a year later it's still running strong. I really don't think Shamit and crew are intentionally trying to rip customers off, I just think there's a disconnect between the management and the repair side of the business. And, if you get caught up in that "disconnect", it will cost you thousands of dollars. Shamit has never fixed this issue, so beware to the car owner looking to get a repair. Needless to say, my next used car will probably be purchased at VIPRE, but my repairs will be going elsewhere. Three stars: good cars, bad repair service.

I get this impression because of what I see when I'm in the waiting room. Service is scheduled well and there is never a long wait for repairs once you're scheduled. He explained to me their diagnostic fee and that he will let me know if it is a big repair. Fortunately, it was not a big issue. He even pointed out the business next door for a rental to help me get home. I was about 50 miles from home so I felt very thankful for this upfront and honest service center.

He was saying they are very busy and I saw zero motivation by him. Within 2 hours he called me saying I need $800 repair for brake leak, my caliper, brake hose and parking brake motor needs replacing. My pregnant wife went to pick up our car and Rafael started harassing her for $60 diagnostic fee. I would have loved to pay $60 fee had anyone told me about it. Not mentioned even once, when I was there to drop off my car. I refused on the phone. Told my wife to never come there. This is the reason why shops get a bad name. Rafael was on the phone the entire time I talked to him. He doesn't want this job. Took the car to another shop down the road, guess what only thing that was needed to be replaced was a single caliper. $225 job only and they bled the brakes and everything. Avoid this place.
