On our very first night on Mackinac Island, the weather was showing off--mid-60s, sunshine all day, not a cloud in sight. With the forecast looking more meh-kinac than Mackinac for the rest of the trip, we knew this was our golden hour (literally) to get out on the water. Enter: Sip 'n Sail's Sunset Cruise under the Mackinac Bridge. Let me tell you--this wasn't just a boat ride, it was a floating block party with the best views in Michigan. The boat itself is a two-tier beauty that holds around 100 folks, but lucky for us it wasn't packed. We snagged cushy patio sofa seats on the top deck (pro tip: get in line early!) and parked ourselves right in front of the live entertainment. And what entertainment it was! Our singer had charm, pipes, and a playlist straight out of the Yacht Rock Hall of Fame. Think Michael McDonald meets "Dancing With the Sunset." Everyone was singing, swaying, and probably rethinking their life choices if they didn't know all the words to "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)." The crew? Absolute gems. From the captain steering us smooth as butter under the Mighty Mac to the bartenders slinging drinks like it was happy hour at sea, they were all fantastic. Special shoutout to Emma, who kept spirits high (and beverages flowing). Drink-wise: the margarita was a bit too sweet for me--like sipping liquefied Skittles--but once I switched over to wine, I was smooth sailing. The highlight? Cruising directly under the Mackinac Bridge while the sun melted into the horizon in a blaze of pinks and golds. It was so breathtaking I half-expected Christopher Cross himself to appear on deck and whisper, "Sail away..." The night closed with a surprise duet: our singer invited a guest up for a Bob Seger number, and let me tell you--dude nailed it. I almost yelled "Play it again, Seger!" All in all, $55 for an hour and a half of boat-side bliss was a steal. Considering Mackinac Island charges $12 for a cup of grapes, this felt like highway--er, waterway--robbery in the best possible way. So if you're on the fence about booking this? Don't be. If you find yourself on Mackinac Island, I highly recommend Sip n' Sail Cruises. This was my first time and it was an unforgettable experience that left me in awe of the breathtaking views it was a very romantic evening. The highlight of the cruise was undoubtedly the stunning scenery as we sailed under the Mackinac Island Bridge during the golden hour. Great photo opportunities! The staff on board were exceptional in ensuring a memorable experience for everyone. They were organized and attentive, making sure guests were well taken care of throughout the journey. What impressed me the most was that I always had a drink in my hand. A hot tip though: The seats on the deck fill up quickly, and most passengers prefer not to sit inside. My partner and I discovered a hidden spot at the front of the boat that no one seemed to check, and we were able to snag a prime seating location. But even so, it was very crowded, not shoulder to shoulder but you were for sure bumping people. That is why I only gave it 4 stars, I wish they limited the number of people a bit more. While you can stand the entire time, having a spot to sit was nice for the 1.5-hour cruise. read more

This is an ABSOLUTE MUST when planning your trip to Mackinac!! Molly is simply the best, most kind hostess!! We are from Texas and were told you didn't need to make reservations by someone at one of the hotels. It is best to have reservations. Molly made room for us!! It was one of the highlights of our 5 day trip to the island!! We loved every minute. The music was great. The whole experience was fabulous!! Must make this experience part of your Mackinac Island adventure! Take a break from the smell of horse poop and relax and enjoy a cruise with spectacular views. Laugh and drink with friends or get up and dance to the live music. Not a big fan of boats here, but the waters were calm, the music was great and the views were amazing! Just did a sip and sail (June 2019) with three kids in tow (ages 15,13 and 9). It was awesome! The weather absolutely sucked! Raining, windy, cold. Seriously though we had the best time. The drunks stayed towards the front of the boat. We were in the back. The music was a little hard to hear but we spent most of our time on the top deck in the rain with Molly (a crew member). She was awesome. Gave a lot of insights about the island and even got my kids in the wheelhouse and my 9 yr old got to hold the wheel. Great experience for them. So much fun. At the end it was obvious that some passengers had over indulged so good thing they were walking or biking to their hotels. Overall this was a fun experience for my family even though the weather was complete garbage. read more

Molly and Zak were so accommodating, along with the rest of the crew members. We took an 11:30 AM cruise on the 4th of July and it blew away our expectations. Our daughters 5 and 8 were able to be co-captains and steer the boat. We had one of the best spots on the boat with couches and Zak was always there when we needed a refill or the girls wanted a snack. We have been vacationing on Mackinac Island for over 16 years and this was the first year we decided to try one of the sunset tours. We chose Sip n' Sail due to the other positive reviews and I would recommend it to others. My wife and I took our 10 year old and 8 year old girls and it was a perfect night. The staff was wonderful, the boat was very clean and the music was great. Not too mention, the sunset was beautiful, which they timed perfectly to be under the Mackinac Bridge to view. We will definitely use them again in the future. I would recommend getting there early to get a seat, although we stood the whole trip and it was still a great time. read more
