    Towels in the wellness center

The only other time I've stayed on Mackinac Island was at the Grand a few years ago, and I've been eyeing the Inn at Stonecliffe ever since then. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. It's a little more remote - just shy of 2 miles so up to a 1.5 hour carriage ride if there are a lot of stops. The property is GORGEOUS and recently renovated - it actually looks quite different from the Yelp photos from before so you see that they did a great job. Some experience notes: *The wellness center with sauna is 24/7 as well as complimentary smartwater bottles in the fridge with the workout equipment. *They have an adults pool and family pool. *Resort-like programming all week with complimentary s'mores, pumpkin painting, pilates, tours, etc. *I appreciated that they reached out the week of my arrival and gave me ferry information and asked when I was planning to arrive, etc. They also kept in touch via text all throughout my stay. *There's a general store with homemade ice cream - I had the pumpkin cheese and mango ginger sorbets. Delish! We stayed in the double queen water view at Summer House, which made for AMAZING sunsets from our balcony - like wowow. It was also really quiet entire time despite there being a wedding! This will be my go-to place to stay!

Best stay on Mackinac island for food, comfort and privacy! I have been coming to Mackinac for nearly 30 years now. I've stay on places both on the main land and on the island. Stonecliffe is the best place I've stay anywhere. It's peak affordable luxury. They have thought of everything. We stayed on the summer house, which was purely beautiful. It's a modern take on traditional English style. The modern Tudor style of the main lodge is breathtaking. Nikki and Rudy made our stay especially wonderful! Ask for Nikki at the front desk for a truly friendly and knowledgeable experience. Rudy adds a beautiful smile to all your meals at The Straits. All the staff was wonderful but these two made our stay especially wonderful. My husband and I got a picturesque view of the bridge, a heated pool, sauna, absolutely breath taking bathroom, comfy beds and enough space to rest. We ate at both restaurants and ordered from each bar. We ordered room service the first night, which was so fast. We even ordered a second round. Staff made sure our first meal was good. We told them we simply had to try more food, it wasn't that we needed to order something else. Listen, I'm picky and a foodie. There is something here for everyone. The first night, we had the smash burger, French onion soup and garlic knots. Everything was wonderful. The second night, we had entrees at The Straits. My husband got the pistachio crusted cod whereas I had the short rib. Both were technical to perfection. The mashed potatoes were like silk. We'll be back and only staying at Stonecliffe now. Thank you to the staff who made our stay truly special.

Elegant dining experience. We were staying at the hotel and decided to give their restaurant a try since we were so tired and soaking wet from the rain all day. We made a reservation first. Dress code is business casual. They have a small Menu. We were delighted with our apps of fresh oyster $28 for 1/2 dozen and crispy pork belly $26. Delish! Our mains were Eagle Creek Farm trout $44, Perch $41, American Wagyu Cheeseburger $35. We capped our meal with their Strawberry Trifle its like this strawberry preserves with torched meringue. A bottle of Momo wine was $55. We did however wanted a Cakebread initially for $80 but they were out and the Momo was suggested by the server. Everything went well and good until we realized we were still charged the $80. We came back tje next day and had them fix it. Happy tummy though and indeed!

A Hidden Gem on Mackinac Island! From the moment we arrived at The Inn at Stonecliffe, we were welcomed with warmth and hospitality that made our stay truly unforgettable. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect, offering friendly service and genuine care that made us feel right at home. Honestly- every single team member is amazing. So professional- how a resort/hotel should be run- every guest treated with respect and every question or concern addressed. The absolute "gold standard" of a resort. From Molly who answered my questions immediately via email to check in and our stay- every team member is amazing. But we do need to give a shout out to Morgan who served us at " The Straits" - she really needs to be the resort's Ambassador- she sold my husband on a fantastic steak when he was just going to get an appetizer as a meal. We ran into her throughout our stay and she was interacting with every guest like she did us- hilarious and amazing. The entire staff acknowledged us wherever we went and always asked if there was anything we needed. The Sunny Honey Cottage was an absolute dream--cozy, beautifully decorated, and filled with charming touches that made it feel like a private retreat. Waking up to the peaceful surroundings and stepping outside to breathtaking views of the Straits of Mackinac was pure magic. The entire property exudes elegance and tranquility, making it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. Whether relaxing on the mansion's backyard that faces the Mackinac Bridge or exploring the scenic grounds, every moment was a delight. If you're looking for a place that combines luxury, history, and outstanding service, The Inn at Stonecliffe is the place to be. We can't wait to return

The experience is 5 star all the way. the only reason I give 4 stars is the room we had didn't have a mirror near the sink so I could shave! The food and staff was 5 star all the way. The lawn was incredible to let the kids play while we enjoyed the fire In the evenings. While cold the pools where amazing and had toys for the kids to play with along with floaties for the young kids.

A beautiful Inn to stay at on this island. A protip: book in advance, rooms fill up on the island and the only available room was the suite. It is expensive but the hotel is beautiful, clean, the breakfast buffet had a scenic and tranquil view. Staff were so welcoming and already had our bags ready in our room on our arrival. Communication with staff was via text, which was new to me, and they sent a porter to retrieve and drop our bags to the ferry. There are no cars allowed on this island so renting a bike is a great idea unless you want to walk or take horse drawn carriage rides around the island.

    Maintenance needed

The Good: The grounds and people were nice and it was very quiet, sitting on the back porch in the evening was very pleasant. The bad: They are in serious need of a maintenance man that is proud of his work or more help if needed. Your first view pulling into the grounds is a broken light and another just sitting on the rock wall. Our bedroom window had years of peeling that look horrible when you walk into the room. Windows need to be cleaned and the pool wasn't ready for the season, they were swimming at "The Grand" They need a maintenance man for the off seasons to get this stuff done. There was no AC in our room in the mansion, not a big deal for us, and no elevator.

Stayed here for our anniversary weekend with the Dine & Unwind package. What a special place in the world! From our room with a view of the Mackinac Bridge, to cocktails on the patio, everything was superb! Our special included a delicious dinner at the Cudahy Chophouse and beautiful breakfast buffet each morning, bubbly on the patio and chocolate dipped strawberries. We are bikers so we loved riding our bikes to the Inn while they transported our luggage. Staff was super kind and helpful and fun to chat with. Reservations to be made for same time next year.

I traveled to Scotland and London, and this fish and chips beat out what I had while there. I am not a huge fan of steak fries, but these lived up to my expectations and had enough crisp on some to make up for the softness I associate with this type of fry. The Cole slaw was enough to be a meal in itself. But the fish, were the star of my plate and the tartar sauce...I need this recipe or a bottle of the sauce. My travel mate opted for the Ruben sandwich. I tasted the corned beef, had a great flavor to it. There were no complaints from our table. She also got a coffee to go, asked for cream...came out with the cutest little cream pitcher. The cup is also biodegradable, which is great since it would end up in a recycle bin along the way. Great staff, clean, nice restrooms (two sets), and plenty of space to have a group come in for a sit down meal.

The prices were actually less than I thought they would be...a big order of fries was five bucks. Beer on tap was eight bucks. After, go to Kilwins for a cone and sit on a hotel porch.

The wait was about 15-20 minutes - so much better of a wait time! I like the theme and vibe of the place - the play on bikes and name of the restaurant is perfect. Decor is bike themed but not overly done. Rustic and laid back. Our waitress was excellent - very friendly and attentive. All staff were wearing masks. Good drink menu in addition to food. A lot of small plate options but the portion sizes of the small plates could feed at least 2-4 people. I went with sweet potato fries and steak tender bites - delicious! The dipping sauces for the fries had three different options - sweet/savory, loved trying each one. The sweet potato fries were not mushy and had a good crunch. The steak was cooked to perfection - I asked for medium and I got medium! Everyone seemed happy with their food. Restrooms were downstairs. Nice dining option in the city - only con there was no outdoor seating. Their taps were out of order, but they have plenty of canned and bottled options. The fish and chips came with two large filets and plenty of fries. I even liked the coleslaw, which I normally don't really love. The batter was a bit thick for my taste but the fish was flaky and not dry. Nate got the waldorf salad, which was huge and had tons of toppings and a nice portion of grilled chicken. The space is quite small so I don't think this place would be great if you have a stroller or anyone in a wheelchair.
