Phil responded and gave me a couple quotes based on photos I sent but gave a realistic expectation that he would need to see the piece in person due to the damage being against the grain to see if an in-home touch up could be done or if the entire surface would need to be refinished (no one else I contacted even mentioned this and some charged for an in person evaluation which Adam's Furniture Repair doesn't). He came and evaluated the piece and we decided to do an in home touch up which I'm really pleased with! I've had this piece since I was a child so it has sentimental value as well as being a quality piece. He also did a couple smaller fixes on two other pieces of furniture I had. The price was exactly what I have been quoted, which was very reasonable. The staff was courteous, respectful, and knowledgeable. Upon calling, we spoke with Charlie, who stated he would be glad to take a look at our furniture, but rather than have us trek across town, he simply needed some photos in order to give us a quote. After receiving the quote, which we felt was very fair, we had Charlie Horner effect a repair. We could not be happier with the quality of the repair. Actually we were AMAZED at the quality of the repair and wish to commend Mr. Horner for saving us hundreds of dollars by not having to purchase a new chair.
