My husband and I wanted to check out the water spa after skiing. We have a cottage close by and wanted to check out our surroundings. The interior is very nice and rustic. We were given towels and robes and were taken to the locker rooms. The locker rooms were tiny, but clean.
The water spa is open and bright. We were expecting Scandinavian like pools and the website is deceiving. It was essentially a warm pool. It doesn't get any hotter and some of the jets weren't working. After we showered, we decided to have some drinks and hang out. We are fortunate that we had a snack at the ski hill before because the inn does not have any food. We played darts and billiards, which was fun. The front desk person was working 4 different jobs, including bar tender and front desk. We managed to get in for dinner, which wasn't until 8:15. I believe there is only one sitting.
The dining room was intimate and dark. We ordered some appetizers because we were hungry. FYI, you need to order all 3 courses to be full! My husband has the firecracker calamari and I had the duck crepe. My husband's dish was not spicy at all and has some bacon flavor in the aioli. My crepe had smoked duck on top and the crepe was cheese. The pepper salad was good. All of our food did not come super hot. For dinner I had the lamb and my husband the steak. The lamb was 2 tiny double chops for $39. In gourmet places in US or Canada you usually get big lamb chops, not here. We've eaten at Rhubarb and have had a big lamb shank. The veggies and sauce was good, it definitely the portion size was tiny. My husband had a super thin steak. This was definitely not what you would see at a fine dining place. The dessert was yummy. I had the crumble and my husband had the brownie. The brownie did not taste like cheesecake at all.
Overall it was a nice place to eat and hang out. A hot tub would have been better and the portion sizes could be larger. Also more people to accommodate everyone there. read more
