I had issues with the first place I went to (lashes del sol) my lashes on my left eye looked noticeably less full than the lashes on my right eye, and the second place (kist by mist), even though she tried the best she could to fix the first job, still wasn't that great, and I kept losing so many lashes! One of my close friends recommended Melissa, as she saw her the week before, so I booked my appointment right away.. and this was the first time I actually fell asleep while someone doing my lashes. The experience is so relaxing, and I am one of those people that can never sleep easily, let alone someone doing my lashes... My lashes looked awesome after Melissa was done... and I barely lost any lashes for the (almost) 2 weeks that I've had them. I've never had someone "cure" my lashes and honestly, it works... I'm pretty gentle when it comes to my extensions... but this definitely made a difference. One of the things that drew me to them is that they were willing to use only products that contained plant ingredients. I'm unable to use products with synthetic chemicals because my body is very sensitive to them. Many skincare businesses have a problem with this because so many products that are out there are not actually clean and non-toxic. This was not a problem at Beauty Republic though. Not only did my skin feel fantastic post-facial, they sell products that I can buy to use at home, and there are so many options to choose from that meet my criteria of being clean and non-toxic! They make sure to provide you with instructions via text message the day of your appointment, which is very helpful. The studio is now officially a team of two, lead by founder Marissa Duarte and her sister in law Vanessa. The services no longer include nails services. Their focus is entirely on skincare. Vanessa does offer waxing and lash lift/tinting services though! So, if you are looking for a place that is entirely dedicated to facials of various kinds with a holistic approach, this is it! And it's LOVELY. The studio is cozy and super well appointed. I was super relaxed the entire time. I went in for a facial that included gua sha with Vanessa. Vanessa is incredibly sweet and fun to talk to before and after your session. She keeps the session chat free so that you can indulge in all the relaxation possible and I loved it! Another nice aspect to their business is that it is a gratuity free zone, meaning that the pricing on their website is what you pay for and that's it. So you can think of it as the gratuity is included. I've never experienced that before and I must say it's a really nice way to enjoy a treatment. She asked what style I wanted and I showed her a picture and she confidently said she could do it. 3hrs later and a very uncomfortable experience with what felt like my lashes were being plucked out, i got a completely different look than what I showed her. Apparently I was charged for a "custom set" but it looks like a classic mega lash. My eyes have been red, swollen, and itchy since. I fear that my natural lashes are damaged due to the roughness of the application process . Despite me explaining this to her after my appointment, she just said she can do a free fix and she doesn't do refunds because "you should have read my policy". I just personally would not recommend going here for lashes, especially for the price.

My only complaint is that the fan wasn't on my lashes long enough so I had some pain and redness later that day that resolved after 24 hours. No loss of lashes the first week. About 3 Lashes came out the second week. The third week I lost a few of my natural lashes but it doesn't seem like much. I'll update once I get them removed.
