Between the pandemic and the winter months, it's been quite some time since I felt like I wanted (or perhaps needed) some help with skin and body-hair maintenance, but I recently decided I wanted some smoothing, given the approach of pool weather and the possibility of in-person socializing. I had noticed Bare Necessity on a recent visit to St. Philip's Plaza, and decided to give them a try rather than the chain I had used pre-pandemic. Bare Necessity is great!!! The spa is quiet, clean, and relaxing, with calming music and serene décor. The lobby has lots of skin products to augment the procedures they offer. The individual rooms are very comfortable, and you can tell that they do a good job cleaning between every customer. I saw Claudia, who is absolutely wonderful. She was quick and highly professional with the wax, but very friendly! We chatted the whole time, which made the appointment fun and made me look forward to seeing her again at future appointments. Checkout is easy and touch-free; you can do a lot of it from your phone, which I thought was neat. Their prices are very competitive as well. I highly recommend Bare Necessity! read more

I've currently visited twice now and I'm always retiring! The location is away from the busier part of the St. Phillips plaza, on the southern end by Ren Coffeehouse. Their interior design is beautiful and modern! I'm always offered water which is very nice! I've had the pleasure of being serviced by Jacky and Jordan, both of whom made me feel super welcomed and had very good conversations. I went both times for Brazilian waxes and both esthetician were very good, quick and professional. I love most that your first time visit is half price! That's what got me in the door. It has been a month since my Brazilian and I'm still so in shock about my experience. I have received Brazilians before (NOT HERE) and they have been comfortable, professional, fun, and clean. Bare necessities is NOT that at all. I always get nervous before Brazilians as it can be painful and awkward. My experience with Claire was beyond awkward, painful, and unprofessional. First, she made me undress in front of her immediately. She didn't even turn around, leave the room, or give me a five minute break before we began. This made me feel completely rushed & uncomfortable off the bat. Second, there wasn't even a hygiene wipe offered. How much do you care about cleanliness and sanitation??? Third, it was SO painful. I told her it was really hurting, and that I had begun to sweat and was making it very obvious that I needed a breather and she disregarded all of it. Fourth, she kept me positioned in ONE position the ENTIRE TIME!!!Because of inadequate positioning, hair was remaining after she "completed" my wax. Hair was left in obvious places that I know she could easily see, and she didn't care. She also got it done in ten minutes. Which shows she didn't even want to do her job correctly and just wanted me out. Will never go there again. I will be telling friends to never go there, in hopes others don't have to go through a traumatizing experience like I did at bare -NOT MINIMUM- necessities. read more

Lina is one of the best estheticians I've ever gone too!! This salon is a little more expensive, but for Lina it's so worth it!! She's the sweetest and best esthetician and does such a good job. She goes above and beyond, and I always have such a great experience!! I have had bad experiences with their receptionist being pushing and wanting me to schedule with other estheticians and schedule asap when 9am doesn't work in my schedule at all when they have had emergencies, but other then that overall a good experience here. read more

After being on the hunt for a place to get my waxing necessities I finally found this place! I've been going to them since 2021 and have always had great experiences. (Skyla and Claire are great!) Until today. I went in and was the last appointment for Samantha at 6:30 and how I wish I hadn't made the appointment. I agreed to a clean up, as I have never change the shape of my brow, and wouldn't think of doing so a day before my boyfriend's surprise dinner party. Well to my surprise when I was given a mirror to see if there were any hairs I wanted her to get, I noticed my shape was totally changed, my brows are super thin! I started to freak out and she told me she thought I wanted a different shape. If that were true wouldn't she of talk more in depth with me about what I was looking to change?! I told her no, I usually do a clean up. She said to buy castor oil so they grow out faster and that I was all done. Quite honestly I didn't feel like she was sympathetic at all. Same with the girl that was at the front desk. (not the girl that's usually there). Never had my brows this thin, my thick eyebrows are my signature look! Unfortunately, this is how I now how to walk around. I'm hoping they grow out, who knows how long that will take, and what they will look like. read more

I have been going to this place for few years now. Today was a horrible experience all this because I was wearing a mask cause I have a soar throat the morning before my appointment. I am a healthcare travel so I was really trying to protect the technician. Long story short I paid $84 for a bikini and lower legs that took 10 min.
