We had the absolute BEST time on the Jolly Sailing & Dolphin Cruise!! Mary was our tour guide, and she was truly something special. I wish I remembered the captain's name because he was so kind and welcoming too, but Mary completely made the experience unforgettable. She went out of her way to connect with every single group and person on the boat, and especially the kids. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does, and it shows in every little interaction. My son is 3 and usually stays to himself, but Mary picked him up, let him ring the bell, and everyone cheered for him--it was such a special moment that I'll never forget. As a mom, that meant everything* to me. The whole experience was so fun and interactive--we were waving or dancing every time we passed another boat, laughing nonstop, and just genuinely enjoying every second. The vibe from start to finish was so light, happy, and comfortable. The boat itself was super nice & spacious with comfortable seating, plus you could see everything from every angle, which made it easy to catch every encounter! Pro-Tip: come prepared with your best dolphin puns and your "dolphin call" because they WILL put you to the test This was hands down one of the best experiences we've had on Pensacola Beach. We will definitely be back, and I truly can't recommend it enough!!

Our tour ended up being moved to an earlier time the day before. I did receive a couple of different text messages about the start time, which caused a little confusion on my end, but the crew communicated well and kindly waited for us before departing. The address synced perfectly with the gps to the exact departure location. Parking was free and available immediately by the dock area, but notes this will likely not be the case during peak tourist season. The tour itself was lovely. We had beautiful weather, and the crew was attentive and knowledgeable, sharing interesting history and stories about the bay throughout the ride. We saw dolphins and were able to capture plenty of videos and photos. This would be an especially beautiful tour to take in the evening to enjoy the sunset.

From the minute the pirates call you down to get on the boat until the minute the cruise ends, it's fantastic. Our pirates were Captain Barnacle and Capable Kyle. They were both engaging and fun. There were lots of activities and Pirate Pop on board. They always had a few tricks up their sleeves too. I cannot give this cruise enough praise. By far our most favorite thing we did on Gulf Shores vacay.

That said, I think it's important for parents to know that this may not be the best fit for every child. There were several moments that seemed overwhelming for some of the younger or more sensitive kids. The crew repeatedly joked about "walking the plank," and I noticed more than a few children become upset or cry during those segments. While it was intended as playful pirate humor, not every child interpreted it that way. The biggest thing to be aware of is just how wet you can get. The cruise includes frequent water games, water fights, and bucket dumping. The crew does mention that guests may get wet, so this wasn't completely unexpected. However, I was walking back from the restroom (coming through the dry covered area) when an entire bucket of water was dumped on me. We were planning to go straight to dinner afterward, and I happened to be wearing a nicer dress and carrying a handbag. Thankfully my bag was water-resistant, but if I had been carrying paperwork, electronics, or a less durable purse, it could have been a problem. I understand that getting wet is part of the experience, but I do wish there had been a little more awareness of guests who were clearly dressed for plans after the cruise or a quick warning before a full bucket of water was poured. Especially just walking through the splash area from the restroom. One additional note: we've previously done the pirate cruise in Panama City Beach and personally preferred that experience. If you're expecting something similar, be aware that this cruise has a much heavier emphasis on water play and soaking guests. I'd also say this is much lower budget. The Panama City Beach cruise felt more focused on pirate adventure, storytelling, and character interaction, while this one centered much more on quick water games and pirate jokes. My recommendation would be to wear clothes you don't mind getting soaked and leave anything valuable or water-sensitive behind. If your child loves high-energy activities, water play, and pirate silliness, they'll probably have a great time. If they're more sensitive to surprises, getting splashed, or the idea of "walking the plank," this may not be the best fit.

Captain Randy was a fantastic skipper who made the cruise very enjoyable and comfortable for all. Unlike some other sailing companies, we ACTUALLY sailed in the Gulf (engine off) and enjoyed the breeze and the views. As a sailor on Lake Michigan, Captain Randy let me take the helm of the 35-foot Beneteau for much of the sail. (THANKS, Captain!) He has tons of local knowledge and provided great information to our group. The boat was super clean - the topsides dazzling white and the woodwork varnish below deck looked wet it was so fresh looking. My only regret is that we did not book a longer cruise. Tom H. It was a little crowded if you were fishing on the sides of the boat. The captain did his best to put us on fish, and moved a number of times. All in all, it was fun and we each caught some fish. The mates were really good - they took your fish off, cut up bait, helped with tangled rods, cleaned your fish. If you can afford to charter a captain and boat, that would definitely be more fun. And I cannot imagine taking the 3pm fishing trip if it's July or August - it would be hotter than hell. But for the cost, this was fun. Definitely a well-managed operation.
