Schools of fish cruise by, anglers line the rails pulling up mackerel and pompano, and every once in a while you'll see something bigger glide through the blue. I've seen rays, sharks, and more fish than I could count swimming right below my feet. It feels like standing above a living aquarium. The original pier here dates back to the 1930s, but the modern one was rebuilt stronger in 1998 after storms took the earlier versions. Today it draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, and it's easy to see why. The beach is bright white, the water is emerald green, and the whole place has that laid-back Gulf magic. Walk the boards, feel the breeze, Watch the Gulf roll with ease, Fish below and sky above, Simple place you can't help but love. For me, this pier wasn't just a stop it was the highlight of the whole trip.

I had a 6 hour private charter scheduled for me and my son for the 28th of this month. We come down for the PG World Series each year and close out our ball games with a fishing trip so as a mom, I plan ahead and booked this trip about a month or so ago. Because of all the rain forecasted, we decided to cancel this charter and take a trip to Tamarindo in July. I called to cancel the charter today, 9 days in advance and the guy laughed numerous times and said "that's 10 days away, but ok." I let him know I was well aware of the timeline and that we didn't want to take a chance on the rain. The possibility of storms was part of the reason but I also decided to just take a trip to Tamarindo and fish instead. The trip to Costa rica is 5 days and only $1700 more and we get a 10 hour fishing day so I thought it would be a cool experience for my son since he's already gone out with Hot Spots several times, this would be a little different. This review is based solely on the poor & rude service of the kid I spoke to today. I have had great experiences in the past but they were with Cash & Jason.

I can toss his toy into the water, and he joyfully retrieves it every time. The park also has scenic trails and picnic benches, making it an ideal spot for a peaceful outing. Just a heads-up: the path down to the water can be a bit slippery and muddy, so wear sturdy shoes and skip your best outfit. Bug spray is also a must, especially if you visit during warmer months. I'd recommend going during off-peak hours for a more tranquil experience, but even when there are more people, everyone has been friendly, and it never feels overcrowded. Bohemian Park is not just a dog park--it's a great place to enjoy nature and relax. Gravel and dirt parking too btw.

Incredible! We frequently see jellyfish floating around. Some days are calm and gentle seas. Another day we witnessed a storm role in. Most recently, the gulf was rocking! Big swells and waves, so reminiscent of the Atlantic. The end of the pier is always busy with fisherman casting lines and families catching together. It's a clear tradition for many people. It's energetic and fun to watch. $1 to walk the pier is worth it. I imagine they use it to maintain the pier because this concrete beast is substantial. Take a walk down the longest pier in the gulf!

O Sea D Fishing Charters

My brother in law and I went out yesterday, and Captain Nick took great care of us. We were…read moreoriginally scheduled to depart at 4:00 pm, but due to a no show/no call (who does that?!) by a charter scheduled for earlier in the day, we were contacted to see if we wanted to go out earlier. Given the forecast of storms later in the day, we headed toward the marina within minutes. While on the way to the marina, Captain Nick called to make sure we were aware of the less than ideal conditions and to advise us that he'd do everything he could to make sure we got out and caught some fish as long as it was safe to do so. He knew we were making about an hour drive in traffic to get there, so I appreciated him calling to make sure we knew what to expect. We were greeted upon arrival and on our way out shortly thereafter. We had some rough waters with storms hugging the coast and what became a tropical storm the next day rolling in, but Captain Nick made sure we stayed as comfortable and dry as possible on our way out to some fishing spots. We made several stops and had bites just about every time we dropped a line. Captain Nick did a great job of explaining and demonstrating the technique for each type of fish, and he showed great patience with a couple midwesterners accustomed to setting hooks while bass fishing. We lost a number of fish (likely due to midwesterner operator error), but came in with 3 red snapper, 4 Mahi, and a white snapper. We also pulled in several other red snapper and a gag grouper which were put back because they didn't meet size limitations. It seems we didn't catch what other O Sea D charters had as of late, but I attribute that to weather conditions and in no way fault Captain Nick - he knows his stuff and his spots, as we had action nearly all of the time we were fishing. As the wind would push us away from the hot spots we'd pull up our bait, and he'd put us right back on top of the fish. Once the trip ended we headed back to the marina, and Captain Nick set us up for some pictures with our haul then cleaned everything for us to take home and eat. We had a cooler but not enough ice, and Captain Nick was gracious enough to load us back up with ice for the trip home. We had quite the feast that night, (some grilled and some fried) and all of it pulled from the gulf no more than 6 hours before we ate it! Within a couple hours after our charter ended, Captain Jeff (the owner) followed up with me to make sure we had a good time despite the tough conditions. He also sent me a photo Captain Nick had taken of us with our catch. Long story short, these guys are top notch in knowledge and customer service. We will be back for sure, and can't wait to bring others with us next time!

Aiden went above and beyond his duties making sure everyone on the boat was situated with their fishing pole and bait. The miles of paved highway is surrounded with white sugar sand beaches and towering dunes and beautiful water with lots of parking and not so many people at least the day of our visit. I guess this would be considered a barrier island but regardless of its designation it's one of the most beautiful stretch of beaches that I've come across and I've seen plenty - if you're planning a visit be prepared to spend the day the memories you make here will last you a lifetime, there aren't a lot of amenities if you consider the vastness of this place and please pack out everything you pack in this is one of the most pristine pieces of land I've visited and deserves the respect from all that visit. If there is such a thing as a bucket list item this definitely qualifies and if you're lucky enough to be able to spend some time here just do it - it exceeded all my expectations and I hope to return again soon...

We did go during Memorial Day weekend, so I understand this is a busier time, but wow. It made for a smelly walk. Only the area near the shore had space for taking photos, so we were off the pier in like 10 minutes. Going for the sunset seemed great until actually being there, but we did learn from the signs on the pier that they would have a firework show, which we came back for. The firework show was about 5-ish minutes long, but it was great! They go all out at the end, so there's a lot of fireworks going off.

I highly recommend taking a walk. The salty air is super refreshing, and the wind makes it a very pleasant experience. Also, the scenic views are amazing. I have been to the pier several times, and I really enjoyed seeing the different wild life. I have seen jellyfish, herons and even sea turtles. I have never fished there, but I have seen people catch fish. I also have heard the best seasons to catch fish are spring and summer.

However, we found out we would be having unseasonably nice weather (even for Florida standards) during our time here so we wanted to do something fun. It was the day before Thanksgiving, and most of the SUP places had closed up for the season. Robert was the only one that returned my call. Personable and friendly from the jump, Robert said he could deliver SUP boards to us that morning, and he was coming from Pensacola. Robert asked what type of car we had, our height, and where we were looking to SUP. All of the questions so he could determine what accessories to bring to meet our needs. He offered to drop off the SUP boards anywhere we wanted to meet. But wanting to SUP at multiple areas, Robert hooked us up with a roof rack system so we could bring our boards anywhere we wanted. Robert showed up at our rental that morning with everything we could need to SUP; boards, paddles, life jackets, leashes, and a soft roof rack system. He showed us how to get the rack and boards on our car, and suggested places for us to not only SUP, but to visit for scenery/food. Robert gave us a map outlining historical areas of Pensacola, and must-not-be-missed restaurants, with suggestions of places to go, things to do. For pick-up, all we had to do was leave our boards outside and Robert came and picked them up. We had such a nice time on the boards, they were in great condition, and the roof rack system worked seamlessly. Everything was handled with ease, and Robert was easily reachable by text. I would definitely recommend Robert to anyone looking to SUP. Oh and their boards are dog-friendly!

We booked Captain Kenny for a shark trip on Wednesday. He got us to a perfect spot where we caught REAL sharks -- meaning 3-6 feet long and 40-75 pounds!! So much fun to catch!! Kenny was such a great captain that we booked again for Friday -- caught more sharks but also reds and Jack cravalle. We have fished many times before but Kenny is easily the best, friendliest, and most fun captain we have ever had. We are recommending him to everyone we know and will book again every year when we return to the Gulf Coast. Wherever you are staying, it is worth the drive to Gulf Breeze to fish with Kenny. Kenny knows what he is doing and the fact that he runs his own show on a smaller boat made the trip even better for us. Book with Kenny and you won't regret it! read more

Captain Kenny was great.Not only was he very knowledgeable about the local fishing, but also about the area in general. Though the weather was rough for the morning session, we still went out for the afternoon session. He put us in an area that we could still catch fish, yet not be beaten to death by rough seas. We had a great time and his sense of humor was a blast. We were able to catch several fish of different species. The boat was easy to move around and the tackle he supplied was in great shape. Captain Kenny was great! My husband is a big fisherman, but had never been deep sea fishing. He thoroughly enjoyed himself. Kenny kept in touch a couple of weeks in advanced to be sure he planned the day to best fit my husband's wants. He took us to several spots where we caught white black and red snapper, king mackerel, and several other species of fish. His boat was nice, and he had everything you would need to have an enjoyable experience. Great price too(the best I found)! I didn't feel like we over paid. Captain Kenny was very accommodating in regards to setting up the date, time, how many people and where to meet. He took us right to the fish and we caught a ton of huge fish! Each person in our group caught at least 5 huge red fish and some caught up to 8-10. The red fish we caught were huge and we all had a blast! This was a great adventure for our boys. Captain Kenny was so professional from the very beginning. Communication and coordination was so easy. He truly gave our boys such a great experience. He knew where all the good fishing spots were and knew so much about fishing in general. We took our 5 and 8 year old out as well as our 12 year old niece for a small trip since none of us have ever been. It was way better than expected. The kids loved it and immediately asked to go back the next day. Captain Kenny also fit us in last minute and was very accommodating. He was so great with the boys and taught them so much. Calls. Open party boat had a blast with me, my father in law, brother in law and uncle. Good group as a whole with not too many tangles between fishermen or snags on the reef. The catch was divided evenly between all the fishermen. No monsters were caught which was the stipulation to make sure that went to the person that caught it. The lead deck hand Will was up front about that before we left the dock. No one had an issue with that and it made too much sense. Definitely will be back. Mom and pop run boat. Loved the 2 mousers they had at the shop who greeted us pre boarding and post fishing trip. Highly recommended and will be back for years to come.

I would have given this 5 stars, but they no longer let you keep what you caught. They put all the…read morefish filets in a pile, and everyone gets a share. Most of the people catch little to nothing. But got the same I got. This should not be a big deal, but it ruined the trip for me.
