I needed a haircut, and work nearby so I was curious. They have a great "vibe" and really cool interior space- for that they get 5 stars. When I didn't like was that when I arranged my haircut- I was NOT told I would be assigned a protégé, instead of a regular hair cutter. She was very friendly- but was too timid to really cut my hair. I asked for her to take off some inches, switch it up, and also give me bangs. She brought the owner Sara Beth over and I was told, since she's a protégé "we wouldn't be doing anything so drastic" like that. Since when do they decide how I should cut my hair? Also since when are bangs so drastic?? I still got a cut (like an inch off...) and left, and later that day I was pretty upset. I still paid $50+tip and my hair literally looks exactly the same. No one can even tell I got a haircut. When I get cuts, I like to switch it up. I told her to have fun and do it up, and my hair is just as boring as ever. Back in the pony tail it goes. The vibes were great from the minute you walk in the door, I was offered water coffee and they had me at mimosa! The entire salon is so aesthetically pleasing you can tell a lot of effort went into the decor! Zay was my stylist and seriously made me feel so comfortable and confident! After finding Kari - I will follow her to the ends of Colorado. No, but for real. I found Kari at a previous salon, and she has done WONDERS for my hair. So when she moved post-quarantine from her salon home in LoHi to Belmar in Lakewood and sister B's Boutique, I was quick to make a call and get myself on her schedule. LOCATION: Sister B's Boutique Salon is located in the heart of Belmar off of Alameda and Wadsworth, so there are tons of nearby businesses and ample parking nearby. SPACE: From the exterior it doesn't scream adorable boutique salon. Then you open the door and boom - it's legit the cutest. Think millennial plant-lady who loves mid-century modern and a sprinkle of disco. Think I'm kidding? I'm not! There are tons of plants throughout the center island where the stylists work their magic. The walls a painted this peachy color that just make you feel happy and there's a few disco balls throughout out, because why not? It's terribly cozy. STYLISTS: While I can't speak for the other stylists here, I can hands down say Kari is the best! She specializes in blondes and higher maintenance colors. So naturally she kills it at my cooler-toned blonde. I really love catching up with her during my visits and truly appreciate that she remembers me and my hair needs. PRODUCTS: They use a variety of products here, but mainly Kérastase - which I LOVE. Their blonde line is easily my favorite to help keep my blonde highlight brass-free for the weeks following my visit. Kari has always been awesome with recommendations around products or treatments that I would benefit from. PRICE: They aren't the cheapest. But after years spent trying to save money and cut corners on my hair - I am done. I'm willing to splurge for the pampering and care that she gives my locks. Treat yo'self! I had an appointment with Maggie for a move up and partial highlight that took not 3, not 4, but 6 hours. Ladies, especially those with extensions, you know it should not take near this long, even with a trim and wash like the owner tried to explain away. Maggie actually apologized several times about it being very long so I'm not sure why the owner got defensive about it. One of my wefts was hanging loose that same night right after the appointment and I had to go back to get it fixed. Not just a little bit, but like a 3-4 inch section of the weft. The same thing happened again 2 weeks later and this is something I've never had an issue with before. I was actually offered a discount for how long my appointment took but the price didn't add up with what I was charged even with the discount, and I never was emailed a reciept like I was told I would. I had to call 3 seperate times over a month to get a response from the owner Sara Beth, who never explained or apologized for anything- not the time it took to get back to me, the issues with my wefts coming loose twice, or the time the appointment took. I STILL haven't been emailed a reciept and when I sent her screenshots of the price I was quoted by Maggie (clearly different from what I was actually charged, and the discount I was told I would get) I again never received a response back from the owner. 10 years of getting my hair done professionally and this will be the first salon I don't recommend to anyone purely because of the owner Sara Beth's attitude and response. One of the best salons I have ever been to. The entire staff was so inviting and attentive, super sweet ladies. I had the pleasure to be in Alexsys seat and OMG, this young lady is a magician. I had a bad color done on me in Virginia and within 2 hours my hair was fixed and exactly how I wanted. She even opened the doors for me 2 hours before opening the salon just to get me in before my license picture. I liked the bang trim I got here a few months ago and was excited I found a nice, close, and apparently skilled salon. I was planning on going back for a haircut when I needed it, but I only really get a full haircut once or twice a year, my hair is long and I'm growing it out longer so I just don't need a full cut that often. But my bangs need trimmed about every two months to keep them from poking out my eyes. So I made a second appointment for a bang trim online, which the salon accepted. Then a few days before my appointment I get a voicemail saying it's against their policy to do two complimentary bang trims in a row ($15 plus tip is NOT the definition of complimentary) and I could either schedule a haircut or cancel. Since that doesn't fit the timing or service I'm looking for I canceled. It doesn't give that policy anywhere online and that's just a really poor service practice in my experience, I went back to my former stylist who has been just fine doing bang trims whenever they're needed regardless of how many haircuts I get. Also, they are charging $5 for a mask if you forget yours. I 110% support having a mask requirement and even a nominal fee like $1 for one if you forget it, but charging $5 for a little paper mask is just taking advantage of the times when you can get a box of 50 from Costco for $10. Save your money for a business worth supporting. read more

I love the laid back vibe, the friendly stylists (and salon dog) and of course the actual services themselves! I have been coming since the salon opened, and have seen a few different stylists (to fit my busy schedule) and they are ALL AMAZING and at the top of their game in the industry! These stylists specialize in Lived in Color, meaning it will look natural, and grow out well. You can also come in for hairline touch ups if you're on a budget. Prices are commensurate with other top salons in the city. Another thing I love is they typically sell a few gift items, in addition to awesome hair products, so while I'm there I usually pick up a necklace, sassy pair of earrings or cute hair accessory for a gift while I'm there.
