Raffaele's is absolutely incredible! I was recommended to him by my mother in law who has been going to him for about 18 years! I was lucky enough to get a semi-last minute appointment with Raffaelle and I was in desperate need of a Brazilian Blow Out treatment, as my last keratin treatment was right before my wedding in April. I have to say, this was the best Brazilian keratin treatment I have ever gotten. I also needed my roots done because I'm getting a ton of white hairs (boo!) ... Raffaele chose the PERFECT color for me ... my hair is pretty porous and pulls color very easily and I was skeptical when he chose such a dark color to match my roots (I was usually doing a 6G and he chose one much darker for me ... when I last had that done my hair turned goth black) ... but I was so wrong and Raffaele was SO RIGHT ... it turned out a rich mahogany that I had been dying to achieve for years but was never able to ... but Raffaele was!! I trust him fully ... he stands by his work and honestly, cares much, much more about his work and reputation than about making a buck. I listened to him talk a woman out of a very expensive color treatment she wanted because he knew it would not be the best for her hair type/texture as well as her skin tone ... he cared more about the fact that people would know he did the work than about making the sale ... he gave her sage advice and she was going to return when her hair grew out a bit more in order for him to help her achieve the look that she wanted ... this told me he was the real deal. Raffaele is unlike anyone you will meet ... especially in this day and age ... his pride is in his work not in the dollars he earns ... but he is worth every damn penny!! I've been to many of the hair salons all along the front range and I've yet to find a shop or stylist as consistent across any style you can think up. As a guy it can sometimes be hard to find anyone who feels comfortable cutting hair that isn't crew cut short or requires anything more than a #3 buzz. I've never had a color or anything more intensive here, but have seen many others very happy with the work and for the skill and attention you get here it's very reasonable. After moving to Colorado I was looking for a hair stylist who was familiar with cutting fine hair (so many stylists don't know how to improve the look of fine hair). I can say that Raffaele took his time and gave me the best haircut I ever had. I went back a week later to have my hair dyed. My hair doesn't do well with even the "gentle" over the counter dyes. Raffaele used a different type of color (? think it was oil based), it left my hair soft and the color has lasted. Raffaele seems to really understand hair in a way that few stylists do, I recommend him for any type of haircut or hair color. read more

I did a modest amount of research when searching for a new salon and landed on this place because it was close to another appointment location. I thought I'd be seeing Raffaele himself, so was a little surprised when I sat down with someone else. Usually I hate when places pull the old switcharoo, but in this instance it was totally fine because my stylist was so, so nice. So personable and gave great pointers on how to recreate what she was doing when I got home. The downside? My cut was suuuuuper simple and yet pretty expensive. Unfortunately, I doubt I would return for this fact alone. If it was about $10 cheaper I'd make this place my go-to. Absolutely the WORST experience I have ever had at a salon!!! I went in with high expectations due to the great reviews. At first I thought the salon looked so cute! It was a small house on the side of 44th I was welcomed by raffaele and he took my coat, he seemed very personable. He asked me to take a seat and take down my hair. He then told me I had a lot of damage (which is absolutely fine I have had my hair bleached quite a lot and was not shocked by this but to add I went to another salon the same day and was told I do not have bad damage beyond the last inch of my hair) and then proceeded to actually RIP my hair OUT of my head to show the damage!!!! I said oh no please don't do that (I know at this point I probably should have gotten up and left but I figured I give him one more shot) and we continued with the consultation. He then told me there was no way he could do what I wanted (again this is fine! I would rather have a stylist be honest with his skill set and my hair state over getting a bad cut/color, but what happened after was not) and not this but what I wanted would cost about ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! He then called over another stylist and showed her my hair. He pulled a piece of my hair up and then ripped it AGAIN! I was fuming at this point, however I treated him and his staff with respect. I should have stood up for myself but I was so nervous and anxious to just get out! I then stood up and said thank you and went to leave since I was not getting my hair done. He told me to get a treatment for my hair and tried to sell it to me. But I refused and left. I will NEVER come back again. Not only did I not get the balayage I came in for but I left in tears with my ripped out hair on the floor of his salon. read more

At my very first appointment with Raffaele, he immediately pointed out the mistakes that my previous stylist made, and was able to remedy the issues in a couple of appointments. Now, I cannot be more happy with my haircut. Raffaele is a master at his craft and I am always impressed with his ability to provide me a perfect hair cut. ***THE WORST HAIR CUT I'VE EVER HAD*** After 15 minutes of waiting I was finally seen by Raffaele I was met by some very blunt and direct questioning, followed by some very personal insults about my previous hair cut, which I felt to be very unnecessary. In hindsight, I should have walked out at this point. This set the tone for the appointment, Raffaele was rude and unprofessional throughout. No sign of the courteous service mentioned in the previous reviews! I almost couldn't believe it was the same person. I tried to explain what I wanted to Rafaele but I was just interrupted and asked where I got my cut and color done, which had no bearing on what he was going to do, which he even admitted himself. Raffaele then felt it appropriate to berate me for my bad hair cut, poor condition and the color. I was so shocked and upset. On more than two occasions throughout the cut, he continued berating me. I feel so embarrassed, especially as this was around other stylists and customers. I felt mortified that I was being spoken to in such a manner. I left feeling truly humiliated by Raffaele's comments and frustrated at myself that I didn't leave earlier than I did. I left with the worst hair cut I have ever had. He literally butchered my hair. That was even the words of another stylist from the salon I went to, to get the cut corrected. He literally hacked in to my hair with a razor blade at all different and weird angles, at no point checking the lengths of the layers and whether they were even. I am devastated with the results. The cut has made my hair look thin and straggly, which is the opposite of what I wanted. I asked for my bangs to be cut in to, so he started to hack in to it, again I tried to give him direction of what I was looking for, but he didn't listen. I have now been left with completely uneven bangs and it isn't anything like what I had tried asked for on more than one occasion. Raffaele was too focused on how he wanted to cut hair, rather than listening to his customers needs. He was far too head strong and didn't take any notice of what I was saying to him, at any point during my appointment. 15 mins after I got in the chair, more customers arrived waiting for hair cuts Raffaele, which I was really surprised about considering he had literally only just washed my hair and started to use a razor on it at this point. It all felt rushed and very uncomfortable. At no point was I made to feel welcomed and looked after as a customer. There was clearly not enough time to cut a long hairstyle. It felt like a bit of a conveyor belt of hair cuts. As mentioned earlier, Raffaele was made fully aware that I had long hair when I booked the appointment. I was then told by the end of it, that the razor was used as a 'short cut' and after such a stressful experience, I was was absolutely horrified! I wish that Rafaele had made me aware that he did not have time to cut my hair and that he was planning on taking a 'short cut', I would have declined the appointment and gone elsewhere. I am leaving this review as an honest reflection of my experience, based on the poor service and cut I received. I have never left a salon feeling so upset. Upon reflection, I can't help but wonder about the legitimacy of the reviews after I had such a bad experience. I do not make a habit of leaving negative reviews, but I made an exception in this case, as I was left feeling really emotional and quite traumatised by this experience.
