I've probably been to Cosmic Groove 5 times over the past five years and for the most part have had pretty good experiences. I just went back this month for the first time in a few years and wasn't so impressed though. My two biggest issues were that my massage therapist had BO and so I could smell her body odor every time she was near my head. It was a little distracting and not so relaxing having that smell around me. The second issue was that when I filled out my paperwork before the massage and wrote that I prefered no touch below the waist down that day and after the massage therapist finished my shoulders and back, she immediately started massaging my legs. I don't understand, she either didn't read the paper when she was looking over it or she forgot what she had read. That being said, all of my other experiences with them were pretty great. The studio is nothing fancy but it is comfortable and inviting. All of my interactions there have been friendly and warm. I'll be back for sure, I just hope not to see the same therapist unless she showers first.

Afterwards, you put on a wrap and go into the headspa area (take flip flops if you don't want to walk barefoot). So I was on vacation in Asheville, NC and I had a terrible headache and neck ache. I took Advil and it did nothing. I was supposed to go downtown, so I asked my friend if I could find a place to get a quick massage for my head neck and shoulders first that would hopefully alleviate the pain and she said sure. I looked on Groupon And I saw this place had a neck and shoulders massage! I called and the woman who answered was quite rude, I did ask her if the special on Groupon was good for headache and neck pain and she said yes. Just seems like I was bothering her by asking one question and booking an appointment. I let it go and made the appointment and we went there an hour later. I also need to preface this by sharing that I wear my hair curly. The whole process takes about 1.5 hours total and it lasts me about four days. I was on day two hair and I even said to my friend I hope that the massage doesn't mess up my hair... So I was escorted into the room with my massage person, and she did not really speak English, so that was awkward. So the whole time she was silent. The lady who answered the phone kept coming in and out of the room, asking me about the price on the Groupon since I kindly offered to pay them directly since I know that Groupon takes a large percentage. They made a lot more off me than they would have, you wouldn't think she'd go on about a few cents (yes this a happened during massage.) Anyway, the table had this weird contraption over it, and I just kept praying that she wasn't going to wash my hair, since again she didn't speak English well. So she started with the neck and shoulders massage and it was pretty good and helped a bit with my pain. But then the majority of the rest of the time was spent washing my hair with the contraception and all sorts of nonsense. Now had I come in for that or been aware it would've been ok. But I specifically asked if the head and neck massage was good for headaches. Washing hair isn't going to do anything for headaches. Anyway, I was pretty horrified and the poor lady had the hardest time brushing out my hair because of course it's curly. Then to my shock and horror, after a half hour of that, she actually rough blow dried it after which made it even worse. So when we were done, I came out of the room, and my friend just stared at me, trying not to laugh. I paid and got out of there and cried all night to my friend about my curls. What a mess. Again, not the therapists fault. It would've been lovely if I knew that was what I was going in for!
