During my 4th follow up appointment after my braces came off, it was very clear that he was unwilling to take accountability for the mistakes he made during my treatment. I'll start by saying, I have no doubt Dr. Sullivan can make nice smiles. If I were a typical patient, looking for some straighter teeth, he's probably a fine doctor. As is evident by 5 star reviews. But for the adults (and even kids) who are dealing with unfortunate and more complex orthodontic issues, this is for you (ex. cases that involve collaboration with a dentist or folks who have a history of jaw issues). I know how much money and time goes into fixing bites and I think it's fair for you to hear the negative experience I had with this practice. Below, I outline the experience I had. If you take anything away from this, let it be that this doctor does not have the skill or attention to handle structural orthodontic cases. Come here for straight teeth, but find yourself another ortho if you need anything beyond that. It's not worth the risk. His reply will likely refute these claims but I encourage you to look elsewhere still. I have received second opinions on my case which align with the claims I'm making here. These are simply the facts. I came to him in 2022/23 with concerns about my bite to see if orthodontics might help me regain contact on my back teeth. They looked good when I smiled (from past orthodontics) but I was concerned about the long term impact of heavy biting on only my front 4 teeth. My inquiry for additional ortho treatment was purely structural and he said treatment would be a good idea to protect the longevity of my teeth and bone. So I agreed to do it. He said he would keep treatment to 12 months or less because any more than that could put my teeth at risk due to my unique circumstances. I understood the risk and agreed still because the end result would mean healthier, stronger teeth in the long term. My initial first few months of treatment was fine. The staff were friendly and my adjustments were pleasant but things quickly went downhill. I will not share every detail of my treatment here because it's lengthy, but I'm happy to do so directly with anyone who wants a detailed reference. A few things I experienced in my 19 months of treatment: 1. Lack of transparency. When I came in for treatments, I had to insist that the doctor to take the time to explain what he was doing and what the plan was. I wouldn't expect his pediatric patients to receive a play-by-play, but I don't know any adult who doesn't expect transparency from their doctors. 2. He flared my teeth to the point where I couldn't sever food. This persisted for months despite expressing my concerns. It took a non-adjustment consult appointment, which I demanded, to get him to take any corrective action. At that point, the flaring had created new problems that he had to fix, which extended my treatment by 7 months. 3. Due to mistakes he made during treatment, or maybe it was just poor planning/lack of skill, he had to shave my teeth narrower in order to close the absurd flare he created. I loved my teeth before treatment and never would have agreed to shave them down. I dislike the way they look now. 4. Before he took my braces off, Dr. Sullivan made no efforts to double check my bite. When they finally came off, I was hitting very heavily on my front 2 teeth (where the brackets were). It was worse than before braces. He made some adjustments (shaving the thickness of my teeth) which helped for maybe a day or two, but ultimately, my bite kept settling into the same place, where I'm only touching on the front 2 teeth. If I had known I'd be in a worse off place after treatment, I never would have spent the money or time. At this point, the right thing for them to do would be to refund some of my treatment, but I was met with nothing but condescension, disregard and disrespect.

Definitely recommend Dr. Sullivan. His team is the best. Super friendly easy to talk to. Offered…read moregreat options for payment. Payment plans that can fit your budget. They are very honest. Told me exactly what the cost would be and how necessary it would be to have the braces. 10/10
