I visited Six Flags last weekend on a rainy day, literally. Usually when it rains, they shut all the rides down in the park and they won't come back on until the rain has stopped. It rained until about 2pm and I decided to head over to the park since I have season passes. I figured there shouldn't be many people there. Turns out, I was right! When I arrived, there was hardly anyone there. I honestly thought they might have closed the park early, because there weren't even parking attendants in the parking lot collecting money. After I walked closer, I saw a roller coaster running with practically no one on it. I knew it was going to be a decent day. I've been coming to Six Flags since I was a child and I've never had quicker wait times than I did on this day. Rides that usually are hour to two hours wait, I'd walk right up to the front. The longest I waited was 3 minutes TOPS. I rode everything in the park nearly twice. Even though the weather was still gloomy, the workers did their best to maintain positive attitudes to provide a pleasant experience for the guests that were there. Most of the workers are young, either high school kids or college students, so they still like to have a good time as well while on the clock. Nothing wrong with that. I do wish we had more rides. I know they're working on one, but they aren't doing much to alter the pre-existing rides. They need to do tear downs and rebuild with fresh material and ideas. read more

Extremely rude worker at one of the food counters snapped at a customer for simply asking if his food was coming out soon. Rides look and feel dangerous. Plenty of things that should be cleaned. Purchased tix, preferred parking pass, and flash pass and was a waste of $275. Half the rides and most of the concessions were closed. When I ask the parking attendant about where to park for the "preferred" parking that I paid for, his response was "you can use it another day". My 3 sons wanted to go on Monster Mansion and the line was EXTREMLY long, and with me buying 5 platinum cards, me and my family should be able to go to the front. Holiday in the Park is the current theme at Six Flags Over Georgia. Festive lights and decorations can be found throughout the park and if that isn't enough to get you in the holiday spirit you can also get Hot Chocolate and S'mores that you can grill at a number of fire pit locations. The park wasn't overly busy (Saturday after Black Friday). Most rides had at most a 30 minute wait. Some were as short as 5 minutes. Between the short lines and the warm temps for this time of year, it was about as good of a Theme Park experience as you can have. Staff were friendly and helpful giving ride directions to anyone that needed them. Gift shop prices aren't the best, but that can be expected at any Theme Park. If you think there is a chance you will go three or more times, I would recommend the upgrade to the season pass. Also, get the refillable come back drink cups so that you can get free refills while in the park. We had a great time and were pleased with our experience. Would recommend to others. read more

PEACHES 'N' SCREAM Plenty of thrills* and likely some spills** to be had at this enjoyable amusement park servicing greater Atlanta. This marks the 10th Six Flags property I've attended to-date (holy crap that's a lot.......), although it's only the 6th one I've reviewed since I took up Yelp as a hobby. While no SF park has been worthy of the full 5 stars in my opinion, SFOG is deserving of a solid 4. I planned my mid-September trip to Georgia with the intention of spending 1-1/2 days here, and I left feeling very satisfied after visits on 9/9/17 and 9/10/17. I lucked out with terrific weather (albeit a tad chilly) right before the remnants of Hurricane Irma slammed the metro area. Phew! Right away I took notice of the unusual parking situation: cars are directed off to one side, instead of right in front like what I'm used to. This adds to the amount of walking you'll do here, and believe me when I say you'll be doing a lot. More on that later. Entry through the front gate was fairly breezy, the security friendly. Once I was inside, I made a beeline for the nearest coaster and began my adventure. * Goliath, Mind Bender, Dare Devil Dive, Blue Hawk, and The Georgia Scorcher are extreme roller coasters that are all unique to SFOG. Batman and Superman are "clones" but deliver some pulse-pounding moments as well. Great American Scream Machine is wild, but also wildly unsafe. Dahloneha Mine Train is meh. Other notable non-coasters include Justice League (a 3D shooter dark ride), Sky Screamer (a 242-foot chain swing tower ride), Acrophobia (a drop tower with distinctive tilting seats), and Monster Mansion (a FANTASTIC Mill Chute-style dark boat ride that's as adorable as it is fun). There was an area for kiddos and a very sad-looking waterpark. Though it was open when I visited, hardly a soul was taking advantage of the few slides and wavepool. Luckily for Georgians, Hurricane Harbor is included with admission. ** unlike the vast, flat concrete jungle that is Six Flags Great America, this particular park is hilly. Not only will you be trekking around a lot, but much of this will be up and down steep embankments. After a rainstorm, I can only imagine the number of guests totally wiping out. Another point of criticism is that the Gotham City area near Batman is a dead-end. It doesn't connect to any other part of the park, meaning you'll be retracing your steps which seems unnecessary. I'd advise wearing comfortable shoes. I scarfed down a footlong corn dog with fries ($11 maybe?) and washed it down with an outrageously overpriced Coke ($5). During lunch, I was entertained by the "Shenaniguns!" wild west comedy show, an unexpected delight. The actors never took themselves too seriously, which meant more laughs for the audience. Bravo! _______________ TL;DR Six Flags Over Georgia is a step down from Six Flags Over Texas (the original SF property) in Dallas, but in some ways it's better than my hometown park SFGAm in northern Chicago. SFOG is far superior to Six Flags Fiesta Texas (San Antonio), Six Flags St Louis, and Six Flags America (Maryland/D.C.) All in all, Georgia's foremost theme park struck me as one of the better locations in the chain. Employees were kind - if lackadaisical - and ride operations were acceptable enough for my liking. Most wait times were very short, though a few edged on the lengthy side. Line jumping was a HUGE issue here, way more so than any other park I've ever visited in my life. That sh*t was seriously rampant and I spoke up on more than one occasion, though it got me nowhere and asshole people continued to do so without consequences. Ignorant f*ckers. So despite a successful couple days of coaster riding, Six Flags still can't hold a candle to the likes of Kings Island, Knotts Berry Farm, and the one-and-only Cedar Point. Half the rides and eating spots are down. The current staff are clueless local high schoolers. Put in an order at a mobile only spot for 3 drinks...that's all, no food. 3 cups. Was told 'mobile order only' by the clueless staffer. She then proceeded to make drink orders for walk ups, then when our mobile order was ready, she tried to send me to the back of the line!!! No food, just drinks, which I watched her make for walk ups over and over. Pretty sure I was racially profiled cause I'm an old bald white guy, but whatever. 30 minutes for drinks. Just don't expect good or even decent service when you go, hopefully safety is up to par. This ain't the Magic Kingdom experience. Get treated like garbage, hope the rides are going. I'm going to just list the rides worth going on. One and done for me pretty much. To be honest, I had thought that Six Flags here was pretty big, but it wasn't that big. However, the rides that I did go on are listed below and from best to worst in my opinion: Superman Goliath Batman Great American scream Mindbender Batman carousel swing Justice league hall The downsides for me at this park was pretty much that you have to pay for a locker for some of the rides, which were max 2 minutes and depending on the time you go you could be waiting in the line for 60+ minutes. However, if you're thinking of trying to ride every single ride, I would suggest to get the package and just get a rental for all 5 lockers at each ride. I do have to say, the rides that you do have to rent the locker seems to have been the most interesting as well. Overall, Six Flags was fun. I doubt I will ever go again, unless I got a free ticket or something. But even then, I don't know if I will be going. When it comes to amusement parks I try to hit everything at least once, but I do have to say the view from the Goliath was amazing and I thought that ride was pretty good. Super Man was interesting as well as that was ridden sort of laid down, and if you think you'll feel any sensation that completely took out all sensation of dropping or that nauseating sensations. Too many closed rides! They would announce they were open, just to close them again. You walk all the way across the park to just be turned away. This happened 3 times to us for the Superman coaster. They closed Daredevil 4 times while we were in line because the white cars right rear safety restraint wouldn't catch fully. We stayed while they worked on it. We finally got on and they tried to split me and my kid up and put her in the bad seat because she was smaller than everyone else riding. Needless to say that shit didn't happen. I've been here twice now and Superman and the Big wooden coaster in the back by the water park have been closed both times. The park is looking really old and worn out. They have signs about new rides that they have that date back 3 years. Rotten wood and disrepair is everywhere in the park. It looks really tired and it seems no one cares. Even the big Goliath is faded and old looking now. The food here is a complete joke! Every outlet is horrible processed crap cooked hours ago and held in nasty ass equipment. It's also about 100% more expensive than it should be. I refused to even eat while we were there which probably didn't help my mood any while visiting. We went to almost every single place looking for something edible. Do yourself a favor and bring your own snacks and food. Now to the tickets. I bought mine online and accidentally purchased the wrong day. The way it's set up is confusing and doesn't even tell you what day it's good for unless you click for details. It's poorly set up but what doesn't make sense is why they have different prices on different days all listed together with no detail. Add to the fact they will not let you change your tickets after purchase and it's really a pain in the ass. I contacted them immediately and got an email saying they would contact me within 7 days. Guess what??? They NEVER DID! Oh but now I get emails weekly about their marketing BS. I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN! If I hear of anyone I know planning a trip here I will strongly dissuade they from doing so. I'm going to Six Flags in St Louis next month. I hope to find a better time there! read more

This is not the first time I've written this place a bad review. I used to have a season pass and canceled after multiple bad visits. I thought maybe it was due to Covid so I gave it another try. 2 years later, no better. I came for Fright nights and half the ride were closed and there were no actors in the scare zone. Probably one of the worst amusement parks I have been to if you can even call it that. Waited at least 2 hours for some 16 dollar plate of chicken tenders that were mediocre at best and then waited 2 hours for a ride where the staff didn't even seem to know what was happening half the time. When deciding when to let flash pass and non flash pass holders move they let at least 30 flash pass people go before maybe 6 people in the regular line. Me and the 2 people I rode the riddler ride with waited nearly 2 and a half hours. On top of that they didn't have lids and for a place with a no tolerance policy regarding cursing you'd think their staff would know not to openly curse but no they still did it. Beyond even just that one of their employees was clearly high and multiple people were vaping just wherever they wanted and even in lines for rides made for children. And they didn't even do anything to stop it. I've been to theme parks all around the US and even some in Europe and this was probably one of the dirtiest worst managed theme parks in the world because even an abandoned amusement park would run better than this shit hole of a place. Overall just drive further to a better park because it's close enough to Carowinds and that drive would be well worth it to go to a theme park that actually cares about its guests. read more

This place is littered with fraud and health hazards. They shut off all the water fountains and vending machines. The only points to get water is their tacky huts with 15-30min long waits with no shade. If you were dehydrated, it would take over 45mins to locate and wait for water. Also, a worker at one of these stands over charged me $6.50 for a small Dasani bottle that should've been $4.50 and $31.84 for a ticket that should've been $21.20 She said I had to call some kind of HR to fix this issue. The only reason why this is getting 2 stars is because the staff operating the rides and lifeguards at the water park were working hard. Purchased the top tier Quick Pass and still was disappointed. 550.00 dollars for 4 people included the Quick Pass and admission. The food and beverage manager and the park manager need to be fired. There were no drinks in any of the machines and the one we did find that had anything, it was all warm. The food was horrible and the wait time for it was ridiculous. They ran out of ice park wide and even the restaurants had warm bottles of drinks because of refridgeration problems. They are understaffed, I get that...but adapt just like everyone else is. Don't flood the park with guests if you can't keep up with the volume and at least limit the amount of people entering. Johnny Rockets was probably the worst food I have had in a very long time. Half the rides were down because of repair issues or staffing and seemed they were closing more rides as the day went on. 3 of the roller coasters went down "temporarily with no estimated time of restart" while we were in line. Superman was temporarily shut down for "sanitation" because someone vomited during the ride. Sanitation consisted of staff members dumping cups of water on the puke to clean it. We left after that. We left hungry, dehydrated, let down, and 500.00 poorer. Will not be back until they get their stuff together. read more

I haven't been here in years and was looking forward to enjoying this with my grandchildren. I was sorely disappointed, The park is run down. Most of the eateries are closed. We stood in line for over an hour to get an overprice hamburger, over cooked hamburger. We sat down at a table that was gross and sticky. The park is a blast when you can go and people aren't trying to trample you. Even the special events are pretty nice to attend. However this review isn't about that. It's to warm people of the membership and customer service of the membership. Warning about getting a membership: This may seem like a good idea but things I've learned. 1. If you buy a membership and decide you want to add to it, the date of purchase changes to the date you make the change. For instance, if you originally just bought a platinum membership in February but in May decided to add a meal plan, your initial purchase changes to May. Even though you've been a part of the membership since February. 2. You cannot cancel a membership at any point and time without paying the remaining balance of a year no matter the cause. Move too far away for your job and it doesn't matter. Visit once in an entire year because of your new job, it doesn't matter. 3. Customer service will not evaluate your circumstances to make the necessary adjustment based on visitation (see #2). I'm a little salty because I've requested that our membership just be cancelled after paying $583 and visiting once (we moved out of state in July after purchasing it beginning in May). Let this serve as a warning for anyone purchasing a membership. The park is wonderful and the rides are great, I just wish customer service reflected the park. read more

Six Flags Over Georgia is located about 30 minutes outside of downtown Atlanta and during the week of my Georgia visit they had special evening hours. Unlike Magic Mountain (in Southern California) where thrill seekers could enjoy the park during the morning hours - afternoon hours, Over Georgia had afternoon - evening hours (4pm-10pm). Unexpected, but with the holiday lights and decor it made for a festive evening. While this Six Flags was much smaller (in terms square footage), the lines were much shorter and my friend and I were able to ride 7 thrill rides in about 3 hours. Dare Devil Dive is a one cart coaster that does one of the scariest drop (but man was it fun!), Superman: The Ultimate Flight is similar to Tatsu where you fly on your belly, and Twisted Cyclone - wow this was Uh-MA-ZING - hands down my favorite ride perhaps because I was expecting the drops to be so drastic, the car design was so deceptive! It didn't look like it'd be a thrill ride. Overall, if you love thrills there are some rides for you adrenaline junkies :) read more

I had a great time! On this particular day, they were having a sale on season passes for only like $5 more than a regular admission AND they had a companion deal so essentially a 2-4-1 for admission which let my sister be able to get in for free! The lines for the rides weren't terrible except for Pandemonium, but everything else had about a 30 minute wait time or less. Advice: Try not to have a bag or anything as you will have to pay for a locker at most rides to hold your things so with that, also wear secure shoes. Bring a handheld fan to survive and stay hydrated! Be sure that you also check which type of fast pass you buy because they all don't automatically skip the line. Lastly, if you're staying until closing and wish to eat inside the park, be sure to do that early as the food stands close earlier than the park and they are very strict about being closed. (It was 6:55 and I practically begged the lady at the turkey leg stand to sell to me and she was NOT having it ) I plan to return sometime in the next year as I now have a season pass and a perk of that is also free parking so that saves $25! We have had memberships for over a year now and I am steadily seeing the park atmosphere consistently be better. They definitely are doing their best. Lots of park employees used to have bad attitudes and low knowledge of the park. So far we haven't experienced those types of things through last year and this year. We have small children and it's really fun for all of us to go. I enjoy being able to have alcohol available in the park at certain places if we wanted to have an adult beverage we could. Cleanliness of the park has upgraded overall as well that I'm noticing so far. Two of my only complaints right now is the member services area... near the train station always seems to be staffed with grumpier staff members or they just encounter so many bad attitudes from guests that it's hard to stay in a good mood. Not sure but it seems to be a place I just try to stay away from. & the train station itself I can never tell if the train is running or not until I see it running. I'm almost 31 and never been to a SF park until recently. Crazy right?! Like many in this area, I took advantage of the cheap as hell $50 season pass that's good here and WW up in Marietta. We decided to go on Sunday despite a forecast of possible rain. Cloudy at first, rain a few minutes then magically the sun came out beaming! Not a long wait for lines since the unpredictable weather plus we went within the hour of opening for the day. I enjoyed every ride we went on. Park is huge! Wear comfy shoes because of all the walking. Didn't check out the water park, so can't comment. read more

Yes, the food and drink costs were ridiculous. Yes, the park does seem kind of run down. But, the little time spent at the water park was fun - the lifeguards took their job seriously and I appreciated that. Everything is run poorly and inefficiently... from the UX on the app to the fact that there are like 0 signs on the park. Ordering food is a literal nightmare. The roller coasters are often run with only one car so the lines are absymally long. There are 0 l water fountains that work.. which i'm pretty sure is ILLEGAL. The weather was torture but we had a good time... we will be back but maybe not in July. The ride lines were ok and overall the rides were good, some do look a bit run down. Some of the wait lines are long and some of the have zero shade, or fans. Did I say it's extremely hot and humid here? A few extra water-misters spaced throughout the park would have been nice to help keep us cool. The food is typical of theme parks: lack of variety and rather costly, but that's to be expected. Wish it had shade for all eating areas. It was very hard to stay cool. This is NOT Disney / Universal. But for the cost, my family had a good time and we enjoyed ourselves. Extremely disappointing on so many levels. Let me begin... I'll start out with some background information. 1. I have worked in the amusement/theme park industry for nearly a decade as an engineer. 2. I am a amusement/theme park enthusiast and I travel the country visiting parks. 3. It takes A LOT for me to give a park a poor review. I understand that the employees at a regional park are by no means at the level of a destination resort like a Disney or Universal. With that being said, let's begin this review: We arrived about 30 minutes after park opening. It was sunny and in the high 80s. There was a high chance of scattered thunderstorms passing through in the afternoon. There were quite a few major rides that were not running yet (Georgia Scorcher, Batman, Twisted Cyclone, and so on). We decided to slowly make our way through the park because it wasn't crowded because we figured we would have plenty of time to ride everything, even with some weather delays. The first thing we noticed were the employees. Everyone looked MISERABLE, and I'm not kidding. I don't think I saw a smile or a cheerful look all day. We made our way over to ride some coasters and rode Goliath, Dare Devil Dive, and Mindbender. All were good rides, but operations was extremely inefficient and throughput was the worst I have ever experienced. Where train dispatch intervals would be 45 seconds to 1 minute at other parks, they were 2+ minutes here. Empty seats were everywhere. We made our way further back into the park and rode Monster Mansion, which was the only highlight of the trip. As a fan of theme parks, I was very excited to ride this classic attraction. It was fairly well maintained and had more animatronics than I expected. We went to grab lunch and a storm started rolling in. Shortly after we sat down, every was closed due to the thunderstorm. I understand this for outdoor, partially outdoor, and open-air attractions. We waited out the rain for a while and once it stopped we decided to go to the very back of the park to ride Justice League, which is a completely indoor attraction. It was closed. There is absolutely no reason for this ride to close in weather. I am extremely familiar with the ride system and know for a fact that there are no reasons for this ride to be closed during a minor storm (at this point there hadn't been any lightning, rain, or audible thunder for 15+ minutes. Disappointed, we looked over at Superman and noticed people were walking into the queue. We asked the employee at the entrance if they were opening soon and he said yes. We got in line and noticed there were no employees at all in the station. I knew this wasn't a good sign. At this point, I was getting extremely frustrated because the weather was perfectly fine and anywhere else I've visited, attractions would be opening up by now. Not here at Six Flags. After about 20 minutes, another employee came out and said that the ride would not be opening at all for the rest of the day because another storm was coming in about an hour. AN HOUR! They could have run the ride for an HOUR and didn't. I've seen countless parks do just this to keep customers satisfied. I was livid. At this point, Justice League was finally opening, so we get in line. Shortly after...closed due to weather. Again, a completely indoor attraction closes because of a horrible park policy. After waiting in the queue for an hour, we finally were able to ride. Operations was so slow to load this ride, there was a 3-scene backup at the end of the attraction, rendering the last third of the ride completely choppy and ineffective. The Joker animatronic was also inoperable. After exiting the building, it was drizzling,so we expected to see rides open because again, there was no thunder or lightning. Nothing was open, employees were scarce at best, and nobody seemed to care about anything. At this point, I figured it out... Crowds were low, which means the park probably wasn't profitable that day. Instead of operating rides again, they kept them closed to drive people out. They didn't care at all. After walking around for another hour, hoping to see something open, we saw the carousel appear to open, but had no interest in walking back to ride it. About 2.5 hours before closing, we called it quits. On the way out, I stopped by guest services to complain about the poor operations. I asked if there was anything they could do, and they offered to refund parking and my locker if I had the receipts on me. I only had the locker receipt, so I got $13 back, but didn't have parking, so I wasn't able to recoup that $25 even though it's essentially impossible to go to the park without parking there. The employee wasn't apologetic at all and didn't even say something as simple as "I'm sorry." In summary, this was BY FAR the worst park experience of my life. HORRIBLE operations and PATHETIC customer service. Never again, Six Flags. Never Again. read more

Overall. It's a nice experience if you pay like $20 to enter. It's not worth more than that. The park itself has a lot of mechanical issues, and rides are constantly breaking down. This is pretty normal. The staff is nice. Honestly the only bad deal in the park is that it needs to be modernized, there's a lot of machinery and parts of it that need major maintenance. Especially in the machinery region. I would say if your rich and go on the weekend use a Flash pass because it can get really busy. Other than that try to go on a week day! You'll have a more pleasant experience. read more

Can't get a person on the phone. No wheel chairs or scooters available so 2 adults in our group wasted money. If a person would answer the phone we could have known and not bought the tickets. Way too many things closed too. We got a wheelchair but the time came off. read more

We took the grandkids over the weekend. Because of the price and different ride options, I thought it would be worth the try and maybe upgrade to a season pass depending on how Saturday went. What I didn't realize was...that so many of the rides would be closed. Then the wait times on the app were not correct or even close, they were about double the time listed. Who would have thought that in the middle of summer they would run out of water, all day drink cups and straws and lids for the fountain drinks...we live about 1.5 hours south of Dollywood, but thought we would give Six Flags a try because of the amount of coasters they have and my grandkids love to ride them. However, I will gladly pay the higher season pass price for the customer service and experience we are used to at Dollywood over the cheaper price and lack of customer service experience we received at Six Flags over Georgia. I also bought an all day Photo Pass that cost me $25.00...Once we were back at the hotel I scanned the photo card with my phone and what to my surprise but the photo's on my card were not of my family...I have sent them an email to see if they can get this fixed but we shall see. Nothing about the day was anything to brag about, the kids were so disappointed that so many rides were closed and the amount of time we had to wait in line was completely miserable. Fun for the kids however customer service was horrible. They had machines that were down, no managers on duty at the time of visitation. Had issues with Flash pass purchase in which I am still waiting on my case to be responded to. Had to jump through hoops to solve an issue that could have easily been fixed had a manager been at the park. Yes, it would have been within their policy! read more
