Our kids would eagerly await our weekly arrivals during the summers, often chatting and playing video games during the off-season. The campground initially offered family-friendly activities like hayrides and crafts.. these dwindled to events that included only our children and the owners' grandchildren, often overshadowed by drunken behavior unsuitable for kids. By the second season, that sense of community soured when the owners' friends/family began uninvited weekend parties on our campsite. Groups would show up, using our firewood and partying late into the night while our kids struggled to sleep, often leaving only after we became assertive and telling them to leave so we could go to bed. This disregard for our family's needs, compounded by other unsettling issues made it clearly evident that Way Back is not a family friendly campground. Our campsite being littered with debris from a previous burned, condemned camper on our lot, promises of cleanup that went unfulfilled for 3 seasons. Obscene drunken adult behaviors in front of children that went unaddressed, only created a growing sense of disappointment. We also faced safety concerns, such as homeless individuals using drugs and living in the campgrounds. Convicted sexual offenders and known drug addicts in the park. Hostile fighting and commotion usually provoked by and instigated by the owners. A lingering presence of inappropriate adults around children at the park. Despite our initial rapport and giving the owners multiple chances to make improvements, issues only escalated, leading us to strongly advise against this campground.

It's the end of the camping season so it was pretty empty. Tons of mature trees. Restrooms were ok but they are going to be getting a face lift soon. The spots are a little short for a trailer and vehicle but there is plenty of extra parking all over. Two playgrounds for the kids, a beautiful river for walking, wading, and at the right times canoe, kayak, float or splash. Town is close with walmart and meijer coming soon. We will be going back., it was a great relaxing weekend.

So hands down we had the WORST EXPERIENCE trying to stay some where else today, a place we booked months in advance when planning this trip. So rather than beat ourselves, our camper, and truck into submission we called it a day and left. I called Jellystone it was less than 10 miles away, and they had openings. So I walked in the door and must have been a delightful hot mess, I think the very sweet woman behind the counter took massive pity on me and I am GRATEFUL!!!! She tried to give us the best site in the place, but when I advised we didn't have kids, she totally heard my brain and was like let me get you to a more quiet area of the park. With staff like this its easy to see why people come here and choose to come back. We are only here for a night but for the money and btw was completely reasonable you GET OH SO MUCH!!! This place is very resort like and I'm sure by design. If you have kids I don't think you can go wrong with Jellystone. We didn't use the facilities or playgrounds or pools but this place is not lacking entertainment for everyone of every age. And most people seem pretty respectful of quiet hours. I will say that the only mildly bad was the sites seem pretty stacked on one another : ( The sweet lady from the front desk knew me so well that she even came and checked on us and let me play with her therapy pup when she came back after work to walk her dog. That is what you call SUPERIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

They don't have security like they used to, games like they used to, family sports like they used to, friendly staff like they used to, helpful staff like they used to. The Tobaggan run definitely makes them stand out from other Indiana state parks as one of the more winter-friendly destinations. It was certainly hopping during our chilly January visit. Given the park's popularity, I was surprised at how much TLC the inn could use. The nature center is fairly simple but worth a visit. They have a trail that runs out the back door and easy parking. You'll also find Nordic skiing trails, homes along the lake and a simple restaurant at the inn. The toboggan run was a hit with our four year old. I cheered overhead with our two year old and I have to say that watching is quite enjoyable as well

There is a beautiful historic lodge with restaurant. The restaurant prices are reasonable and the dining room is historic.
