He said he had a site I could park in at a very reasonable rate. While I was in the hospital for several days Dennis and his staff went above and beyond to help my wife who knew very little about the RV or about things that I would normally take care of. I would recommend Hidden Lake Campground to anyone. While I myself spent little time in the park itself the level of concern and care exhibited puts them at par with any of the best RV parks in the country. There is a swing set and trails to walk or ride a bicycle. A shelter house is handicapped accessible with a party room and a porch with picnic tables. The view of the river here is one of the best. The river is wide. There's a dam that has a good flow of water for fishing. As a kid Dad took our boat through the canal locks which looks like you can still do that. Don't forget a walk to the village of Grand Rapids. It's only .2 miles and it's a destination with cute shops and eateries. A campground and boat ramp are just to south of the park.

"The Oak Openings Region is a globally rare ecosystem composed of over 130 square miles in Northwest Ohio. The land consists largely of oak savanna and grassland prairie. It is considered by The Nature Conservancy as having a similar ecological importance as the Florida Everglades and is one of the 200 "Last Great Places on Earth"." It is amazing. Check it out!

Rockey's is the very definition of "family campground." It's a place where people bring their kids…read moreand pets to relax, play in the water, and sit by the campfire. Lots of, possibly the majority of, people here are on seasonal sites, and some make these these quite homey, with screened porches, hedges, light displays and statuary. Campers are packed pretty tightly together, but if you came here you probably weren't looking for solitude. Though there were a lot of people here, it was quiet overall. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. Other campers were pretty friendly too. The firewood we got was dry and easy to burn. We appreciated the cleanliness. The grounds were well maintained, and bathrooms and showers were kept very clean. Plenty of hot water in the showers, though water pressure gets weak if more than one person is showering at the same time. If you don't feel like walking all the way to the modern bathhouse, there are outhouses scattered through the campground, though I'd recommend just walking to the bathhouse. Rockey's is situated on a chain of small lakes, and there are some decent fish to be found in these. There's a concrete boat launch, as well as fishing boats and canoes for rent. When I was unloading my kayak by the boat launch, one of the owners said it was no problem for me to leave it on the lawn by the launch, and that I could safely leave all my gear by it with no worries. He as right. We were tent camping, which I think few people do there, and this did present some inconveniences. Some of the sites have few trees...like ours, and a little protection from the sun would have been nice. A lack of trees also left us with no place to string up our clothesline. There are streetlights along the campground lanes, which are handy for walking to the bathhouse after dark, but make your tent very bright at night. Rockey's doesn't cater to tenters, but some do come there, and for them it will be less than ideal. But for others it should be more than satisfactory,

Harrison Lake State Park was a great place for our family to get together for a reunion. We had a…read moregreat time visiting every playground at the park (there are 6!). Each had its merits, but the group vote for the favorite was the playground across from the volleyball and basketball courts. Some of the playgrounds had retro equipment, which we liked, but the seats were very low and sometimes squeaky. The climbers and bouncers were a hit and the young ones raced to be the first to try them. We even awarded special stickers to anyone in our group who visited all six playgrounds. Finding the geocache and hiking the trails, playing disc golf, doing archery---it was all a great time!

They have only recently turned this from a farm into a campground and have steadily made improvements in the two years I have been going there.
