I was in a scramble to get my hair done, so I was going through salons with good reviews. I called several places and Sixpence stood apart from the second they answered the phone. They were kind and patient while I explained my situation and unlike other places which either dismissed me outright or recommended appointments that I wouldn't be able to make, the woman who answered the phone said she would get back to me after talking to her boss about it. I wasn't too hopeful because it was a Saturday but I really appreciated that they were willing to try to help me and keep in contact with me no matter what that outcome would be. Emily was able to get me in for a last minute appointment and I was so grateful. When I arrived I realized that they had moved and it had to be told to me that their new location was temporary. I was kind of stunned because from how clean and organized everything was, I would've assumed that it was their original space. They offered me water while I was waiting which is always a plus. One thing that absolutely blew me away was the way I saw the stylists interact with the child of one of their clients. Another client was getting her hair done and had brought her child with her and they were accommodating and patient the entire time. Despite at times the child occasionally being slightly loud or making the occasional spill, it was treated with the kindness and dignity that you almost rarely see in situations like this. I know some people prefer a child free environment, but seeing just how well they accommodated this mother and child really showed the compassion of the women in the salon. When Emily got to my hair I was really nervous. I have been growing out my hair from a short pixie and have felt awkward and out of place with my hair for a long time. I explained to her what I wanted and I can admit that it might not have been the best explanation ever. But it's almost like she could read my mind. I nearly cried when my hair was fully dry because when I looked in the mirror I felt like beautiful for the first time in a while. I couldn't fully explain my gratitude or appreciation while I was there because I was certain I would start openly crying. Also the conversation we had while she was doing my hair was so wonderful and I could tell just how passionate she was about her career. When I got to the register to pay I realized I hadn't even asked prices and I was shocked when they told me the total. I did get a 20% discount as a first time client, but I swear that with the experience I had I was expecting to pay upwards of $100+ just for a wash and cut. Overall, the passion and kindness of all of everyone on staff, the experience, and the fair pricing makes me want to recommend Sixpence to everyone I know ! read more

After being spoiled in ATL (Van Michael to be specific), I was met with a struggle to find someone that could provide a solid men's cut in GVL and was about to give up... that was of course, until I met Hanna over at Sixpence. As a male client, if you prefer a more precision (scissor-over- comb) approach vs a barber with clippers (which had been my only option up until this point), I recommend checking out Sixpence and engaging with Hanna, if you're lucky enough to get on her tight schedule. Hanna has been absolutely amazing to work with because she listens and incorporates the direction I provide often with an end result much better than I anticipated. Most hair cuts take a few days for that not so great fresh cut look to go away, but with Hanna, you'll look great on Day 1. As I go through the early process of growing my hair out while keeping it professional, she has provided great advice and educated me all along the way on what to expect and how to manage the growth. Most importantly, Hanna is a really great person and an awesome conversationalist (especially if you love talking animals and rescue pups). Time flies by in her chair. My only reluctance to providing a review sooner, is that her schedule is in high demand, so I have to remember to book in advance. But totally worth it. The salon itself has a really cool vibe and is located in the up & coming West End of GVL. There was a bit of a scheduling mix up a few weeks back, but I was really impressed how the staff responded by taking care of the client first to maintain a positive customer experience. It's great when a business delivers consistently, but much more impressive when they turn a challenging situation into a positive one. That's a great way to create raving fans, which you have in me. We just moved to Greenville and saw this salon while having dinner in the area. I booked an appointment for partial highlight / cut. Kaylee was great from beginning to end of my appointment. She listened to what I wanted (and not all stylists follow this simple strategy) and my color and cut turned out exactly how I had hoped. The cost was in line with the service. Turned out my bangs were a bit too long and it took me awhile to schedule a bang trim due to work schedule. I left a message and the front desk got me scheduled quickly after I called in and Kaylee - again - fixed them up quickly and they're perfect - NC. Rewind to a few weeks ago, I also had a great manicure with Catherine and a pedicure with Clo (I had to reschedule and Catherine was unavailable before the holiday) and I just didn't have time to write a review. Recently moved to the area and was nervous about finding a new salon. I have super thick, wavy hair and it can be a bushy mess with the wrong cut. I also have had a great balayage in the past and I wanted it maintained. Long story short, not only does my balayage look better than ever, my cut is smooth, polished, and perfect. It is seriously the best cut I've ever had. They really listened to my wishes. My thick hair took longer, but they didn't make me feel rushed. The salon is so cute- super chic and modern. Absolutely awesome!! My mom and I were in Greenville out of town and very unfamiliar with the area. We were interested in getting our hair and make up done for a wedding. Trei did a stunning job on our makeup. He was very knowledgeable of make up products and knew what would work best with our different skin types. Emily did both of our hair and did an awesome job!!! We were treated like movie stars that day even when they did not even know us!! They also were able to accommodate us on such short notice.
