However, be aware that they may try to use their own exchange rate, and a further 2.5% commission. I got this changed, but could affect the exchange rate with the refund. I managed EUR1.0669 via my bank, but when it was refunded the rate of EUR1.2549 was used, when at the time the general rate was EUR1.181. I lost £6 overall, not a great loss in the scheme of things, but if you start to multiply their number of clients, then it starts to become a bit lucrative. Please be aware of this generally in Spain, with UK VISA cards, they will try to use their own exchange rates. The vehicle had to be inspected thoroughly, as there were numerrous dents and scratches. I did the stupid thing when returning the vehicle I didn't get them out of their hut to inspect. Nevertheless, fortunartely I didn't fall foul of any belated excess. I booked this via carrentals.co.uk. I was told that the booster seats would only cost me EUR50, in fact they cost EUR72. I have logged a complaint. Waste of time no response. It has been suggested that it would be cheaper to take the boosters in a separate bag, and get the extra charge from the airline.... Put in a bag recently, and no additional charge with BA.

Drivalia - car has 0 DAMAGE ON IT

I realize that there are many people here that may have had a bad experience with Drivalia, but my…read moreexperience is different. My wife and I traveled to Italy on July 16 and the morning we were to leave, we had to suddenly change a few plans, which required us to rent a car in Florence. We were prepared for the worst, after reading other's reviews, and it was a bit chaotic in the Drivalia office at the airport but we were pleasantly surprised by the brand new Nissan Qashqai they had for us with only 58km on it. Honestly, the staff in the office was a bit abrupt, maybe because there were so many people pissed off because they didn't have a car for them, but we were pleased. Reading about the driving in Italy, we were prepared for a real hellscape of a ride, but it wasn't too bad, really. Sure, the road rules are a bit different than what I'm used to but after 20 minutes on the road, all was fine. We had to drive to a small town called Umbria a few hours east and the roads were challenging in some places, but the views were breath taking. Reminder: the Italians don't drive like most people here in the U.S., but when they come up close behind you, just slow down, turn on your blinker, and move over, they will pass and all is ok. Take it easy around the many, many curves, because someone is coming faster and probably a bit in your lane, from the other direction. After a week in Urbania, we drove to Rimini on the east coast to turn in the car and catch a train to our next destination. We were a bit stressed because the office didn't open until 9am and we had to get across town by 945 for the train and had no idea how we were going to make it. We got to the office about 10 minutes till 9 and the very nice man opened early to take our car and actually drove us several blocks to the train station so we could get to the central station on time. A couple of women waiting for the train, who spoke no English (and we spoke only enough Italian to order coffee) made sure we got on the right train. I cannot stress enough how helpful the gentleman in the Drivalia office was and how kind and helpful everyone we met in Italy was. I only wish I could remember the man's name. I don't know what experience everyone who has given this company one star has had, but our experience was vastly different. And the car they had for us was really nice.

Terrible business and company. We rented an automatic car months in advance of our European trip…read moreas we knew manual cars were most common and yet when we arrived to pick-up our car in Bolzano they did not have an automatic transmission available. The car rental was located 10 minutes walking from the train station which was inconvenient with heavy luggage. The exit of the parking garage was located even further from the train station. After the trip we made several attempts to get a partial refund for what we were owed considering the pricing differenece between an automatic and a manual and there has yet to be a response of any kind from this shitty company. The car was in poor condition and the rental staff weren't helpful which seems indicative of a poorly run organization. Rent from anyone else.

RENT YOUR CAR ELSEWHERE!!! As mentioned by many other before…read moreme they trick you into some super cover insurance. I was very clear that I already had an insurance and would not want another one. The word 'insurance' was never mentioned by the staff, only 'deposit' (which you'll get back). The amount was greater than the rental cost itself, therefore you think of it as a car deposit. I understood on the way from the airport that they tricked me and contacted their office directly. The answer I got was "if you signed the agreement there is nothing we can do". They truly don't care about their customers. It is definitely the first and last time I rented from Firefly.

On top of that, immediately pay a deposit of 1,000. Firefly/Hertz employees are behind this doyouspain policy. When picking up the fuel gauge is not even at the top and I still had to refuel the car myself. We get a car with various minor damage, so they have damaged customers € 1.000 per time and therefore do not repair the damage. I had pre-booked a specific car, but then I even got a smaller car, but according to the desk clerk, it fell within the same category. Scandalous practices, stay away from doyouspain and firefly!
