They're essentially 24/7 because during Covid they made the incredibly bizarre and ingenious move to put their insanely beautiful patisserie in old school slot-style cafeteria vending machines. So during isolation one could run out in your mask and gloves, stay six feet away from the person behind you, and yank open any door to reveal an amazing little dessert behind each one. It was a taste of restaurants (professional desserts!!!) that we all missed so much. But it wasn't a gimmick that went away like the closed bubble dining pods. The cafeteria vending machines have stayed. I've picked up multiple different styles to have lots of dessert options at a birthday, I've stopped there in the middle of the night for an after-hospital cheering up, it's basically made for wandering over after making love any time of day or night. They somehow stay beautiful, fresh, and delicious in this little gimmicky machine. It's fun, whimsical, and I think some of the best patisserie in town.

The bakery does not have any seating. The display cases were well stocked when we visited on a Saturday afternoon at 1 pm. We tried the following: Steamed bun with meatball Double dark chocolate cream horn Pandan sponge cake Thousand layers coconut ube Coconut tart Black sesame mochi donut Pastry with mung bean Everything from traditional Vietnamese baked goods to Vietnamese-French fusion baked goods were excellent. My favorite are the steamed bun with meatball and black sesame mochi donut. The steamed bun was soft and the filling included meatball, quail egg, and Chinese sausage. The black sesame mochi donut was crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and abundantly filled with black sesame paste. I saw several patrons ordering banh mi and would love to revisit and try those. Cash payment is preferred so be prepared!

I ended up getting a walnut roll ($2.50) and a jambon-beurre ($7.00). Although there weren't any ham sandwich in the display case, the woman at the register informed us that they'd be able to make one for us on the spot. The walnut roll had been sitting around in the case all day so the outside had developed a hardened crust that was a bit difficult to chew through. That said, the inside had plenty of walnuts, great flavor, and would have been really nice toasted up in an oven. The jambon-beurre here is as good as it gets: high quality butter on artisanal bread, with a simple piece of ham on top. The pickled onions and pickles on the side were a nice touch as well. I wish more places would offer a jambon-beurre, but sourcing high-quality bread and butter is probably the biggest challenge for businesses. If you're here to get one item, I'd highly recommend either a baguette, or the jambon-beurre.
