Poor care. Poor service. Poor follow through. Inconsistent info when calling for results. Poor medical practices. Patient is not a priority.

On Saturday, September 7, 2024, I came to this urgent care, the SJ Medical Clinic, with a suspected infection from a red skinned up knee and foot with developing pus. They do not accept credit or debit cards, so patients are required to pay $85 cash. My son-in-law went to a nearby ATM and then returned giving them $90. They claimed to have no change, but would instead give me a $5 credit to use on my next visit. So I essentially had to pay the extra money to get service. Oddly, after taking my cash they refused to give me a receipt until after I saw the doctor. The doctor looked at my wounds and said, he would prescribe a triple antibiotic cream and antibiotic pills. My daughter asked, "Should we squeeze out the pus?" The doctor said, "No." I instructed the nurse to which Walgreens Pharmacy to send my prescription. However, when I arrived there, my Pharmacist told me that the prescription had been sent to the wrong Walgreens. Also, I was told there was no prescription for antibiotic pills, only the cream medication. By this time it was already after 12 pm and this Urgent Care was now closed. I would now have to wait one more day to get the urgently needed antibiotic pills. The next morning, my son-in-law called this place when they were open, but no one answered the phone. So he left a voicemail asking to return his call. We waited for about an hour, but we didn't hear anything. So my daughter and son-in-law drove over to this urgent care place again. Upon arrival at urgent care, my daughter and son-in-law explained how the prescription was sent to the wrong pharmacy. The nurse remembered them and the incident, but she made no mention of receiving morning voicemail. My daughter asked why the prescription was sent to the wrong pharmacy and why the pill wasn't prescribed, but she didn't answer at all. After consulting with the doctor in a back room, the nurse agreed to correctly send the prescription to the correct pharmacy. A few moments later without making eye contact, she claimed that she changed the pharmacy and the pills would be ready to pick up in about an hour. When my daughter asked her if she now had the $5 change to refund, she quickly said they did not have any change, despite seeing the list of several paying customers already seen that morning. This is my story of going to urgent care on a Saturday to avoid the threat of amputation. My infection had spread to the bone, so this definitely qualified as an "urgent" medical need. Infections move fast, and the one day of delay they caused might have resulted in me losing a limb. What an unusual experience: always have no change, no explanation for what went wrong, and no apologies for anything. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to risk their health on an urgent "care" clinic that seems to be light on the "care" part. // read more

If I could give this place a zero I would. I went in on Sunday morning because my daughter had a horrible cough. We were told that her prescription would be sent to the wal mart pharmacy down the street. I would call wal mart almost every hour checking to see if her prescription was finally sent. I tried calling the office again but they closed at 12 PM. The next morning I finally had enough and went back to see what was going on. They never sent her prescription over. I was told by the receptionist to leave my name and number and that the doctor would get back to me. An hour passed and nothing so I went back and waited until I finally got answers. I sat in the waiting room until I knew for sure it was finally sent. I heard one of the workers make a snarky comment about me waiting. read more

Look up your blood work results on your own!! It's free!! Don't give them more money if it shows no cause for concern. Went in, had Dr. Koka, who was unfortunately dismissive of my commentary to provide additional insight to my concerns. Said what I went in for could be anything so ordered blood work. The scheduled consultation was a phone call a whole two weeks later. No one informed me that they would be charging an ADDITIONAL copay as they count you getting results as another 'visit'. How, when I never even got help for what I went in for? The first visit was never finished. So since they mentioned this two hours before my 'appointment', I had to reschedule for ANOTHER two weeks later (again this is just a phone call). Ended up seeing that my blood work results were fine and just googled to research since that's the same quality I would've gotten at my "appointment" anyway. They also never answer the phone, and only take cash. It's really unfortunate to have a name with a poor reputation--even when the clinic I went to saw 'Dr. Koka' they winced and mentioned how so many issues occur with them. read more

The staff is unfriendly, as well as unhelpful. Its also cash only, and they don't apparently enforce masks.

These ladies are the laziest group of workers I have ever meet. It took hours to be seen than they left me in a room for hours after come to find out they would rather socialize with each other than do anything. Don't waste your time coming here. My first impression was that is was kinda dirty there equipment is old which was kinda weird and provided who saw me asked what I wanted for my symptoms I said idk (well isn't that a providers job to tell you what you need to be prescribed ) our interaction was awkward in my opinion felt like he didn't know what to do or say just keeper repeating the same thing tbh would not go there again nor recommend even if it's close to home. read more

I am parked in front of this building, looking at the list of doctors named on the front door. Do any of you have any idea how nasty your front entance looks? The door handle is so scratched up and doesn't appear to have been wiped off ever. The open sign is hanging on with wire. Looks worse than ghetto. Have some pride in your place. This UC is the best I've been to. The staff there are very cool and the PAs are pretty thorough when they examine you. We were there no more than 20 min (wait time and examined). So I would absolutely recommend this place. In comparison to all the others here in Hemet & SJ, this place is faster, cleaner and overall 100X's better. Thanks read more

I am a Kaiser Patient but to drive 35 minutes and wait 2-3 hours in Urgent Care I felt it was better for my time to find a local Urgent Care Facility and Pay Cash. I waited about 15 minutes and got in to the doctor. The medical asst. and receptionists ere very nice and helpful. I was diagnosed with Bronchitis and they had the prescription sent directly to Walgreen's. I had a great first time experience and will probably use this facility again for immediately urgent care facility and not drive to Wildomar Kaiser Facility. read more

STAY AWAY! Read why... I'm a healthcare provider myself. My brother came here for his Mantoux Tuberculin skin test (TST) reading (NOT once, but twice). First, they said they LOST my brother's records from the first visit. So, he re-did it again. During the second time, my brother came to get his TST read, and the person who read the TST was a Medical Assistant (MA), NOT a license provider. He DID NOT measure it correctly. He measured it by touch and redness (which was incorrect), and stated it was about 2mm. He said my brother needed a X-Ray because of their facility protocol. My brother had no TB symptoms, and upon further questioning on why it's protocol. The MA kept saying, "because it was protocol." There are multiple reasons why I would STAY AWAY from this place! 1) A license provider should have interpreted my brother's TST, which once again was interpreted incorrectly. Should be read on induration, NOT erythema (redness). 2) When we requested to see a provider, the Nurse Practitioner (Carol) did NOT acknowledge our concerns. When I kindly requested to have her recheck the TST again. She DIDN'T bother checking it (she didn't feel for an indurations). She repetitively stated, "We already checked it." Then after trying to understand this protocol of getting a XRAY because it was more than 1mm. All she kept saying was, "It's our protocol." Then she continues on and said, "I'm not having this conversation with you anymore. Are you going to leave? Or, should I call the sheriff?" 3) No evaluation and valid explanation was done and given. Now, out of respect (this is coming from another healthcare provider). ANY patient should have the right to have his/her questions and/or concerns answered, and be evaluated properly. What happened to "Doing good for the patient." I will NOT recommend this place to any of my friends and family. read more

I should have read the reviews before coming. It took 2 hours just to see the doctor. 2 long hours with a sick kid and baby waiting and crying. I came back to this practice because they were good when they were next to the movie theaters but they are awful now. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Horrible service! I can't believe it takes a PA 2 HOURS! to see a patient! I believe the girls who are the medical assistants are rude and don't know what it is to bring real customer service to their patients. You join the medical field because you want to treat the sick and elderly and help them out the best you can to feel good, but these girls are in it for the money. My four children and I were all really sick. I looked up sj urgent care online to read reviews but I found nothing. So I took my chances and gave them a shot. The girl at the front desk was really nice along with the nurses. They all really cared and got us in as quickly as they could. I did not wait too long it was quicker than I expected. The doctor, Dr.Paul Mitchell was really nice and funny too although we were really sick he kept making us all laugh My boys really liked him. I had a really great experience at this urgent care. I would recommend them to anyone. After so many bad experiences at other urgent cares I expected the worst lol but it was the complete opposite. From now on I won't go anywhere else.... read more

This would be for the new urgent care opened by Dr. Koka in the Staters/Chase bank parking lot, right over from this original urgent care. 3 hour wait this afternoon and a male Dr that basically refused to check a 1 and a half year old for ear infection. Then totally refused to check the throat because he claimed "the last time he did that he got bit" Totally unprofessional, what doctor or PA refuses to check a child?! The original is no good and the new urgent care is no good. Anything related to this doctor is a sham. Go somewhere else, this place is a total joke and I doubt you are seeing any real doctors here, don't waste your precious time. read more

Worse experience ever. To start off I was charged 85 dollars for the visit and all for what ? Just to have my daughter sit their for 20 minutes and for Dr Glen Ford to do nothing? My daughter has been sick for a couple days already with a cough... As a parent you expect to go in to a hospital or urgent care and for them to check your daughter and give them something that is actually going to help them . So the doctor checks her and says "okay I'm going to give her something for the cough" I'm expecting to receive a prescription with a good medicine that's actually going to help my daughter. We leave and when I get to the pharmacy I give them the prescription and they tell me it's over the counter MOTRIN. Wow unbelievable! That's not what I took my daughter for !
