Love this gallery. We always go when they have KAWS exhibits. Well managed. Friendly staff. Always responds to email and phone calls. Security is there to protect the art but you can stay as long as you and take millions of pictures. The stairway is to die for. Beautiful space. Close to the 6 train.

I had made an appointment to go to the gallery but upon arrival, it seemed as if i didn't need one. The girl at the front made us put our bags in another room which was a little weird since we did see others with their bags, but I just made sure to not keep any valuables in the bag as the room was not attended by anyone. The gallery is very spacious with security on each floor. There weren't many people so it made browsing very comfortable. It was a relatively quick experience, but a pretty cool exhibit if you're in the area.

The Skarstedt Gallery is very quiet with plain atmosphere/decor. Helpful friendly employee on the second floor today. The first floor reception employee appeared to be too busy to interrupt. The exhibit was interesting. I was not familiar with Eric Fischl's work. It was modern and moving. It made me think. I did not stay long. The showing was small with very large works of art. I had been next door to view art and may not have given this exhibit my full focus!! The exhibit is on display for a while. I'll return to take a closer look. They did have one nice feature added. When you enter you can pick up a handout. It is a paper with a photo of each painting and the description. You have it to keep and to use as a guide while viewing. I like that idea a lot!! Very convenient. After I familiarize myself with this info I'll do some research on the artist and then return. Marianne's SOP! (Standard Operating Procedure) Check out the gallery on line before you visit. It may not be your viewing choice.

4.5 / 5.0 - I'd visited the Gallery quite some time ago and the atmosphere changes regularly…read moredepending on the exhibit, so it was interesting to see a different layout. I came for dinner this week with visitors from Japan, who were impressed by how authentically Japanese and delicious everything was. Unfortunately, I don't have photos, but we chose the restaurant week menu, which included: 1. Japanese potato salad 2. Choice of kushiage, chicken nanban or kinpira salad--I chose kushiage, which came with 3 pieces 3. Choice of kaisen don, signature burger or shoyu ramen--the burger looked very tasty, but I was in the mood for Japanese food, so I chose the kaisen don 4. Homemade soft serve with choice of strawberry, mango or melon sauce--I chose melon, which was nice We also tried sparkling tea from Copenhagen, which was very refreshing. The restaurant was busy but the servers were friendly and we had a wonderful meal. Looking forward to trying more dishes next time.

I've been to The Gallery twice now; once for a nice dinner, and once for the restaurant week menu…read more First, I'll say this place really delivers an experience, not just a meal. The interior is beautiful, with plants and art creating a serene atmosphere that somehow matches the menu. Well worth a visit for the setting. The food itself is good, on both occasions I felt the sashimi was well prepared and fresh. Other dishes didn't blow me away; the udon was fine (and it's cool that they bring it over a flame, so that it finishes cooking right in front of you). Overall worth a splurge for the unique experience more than the food, it's a nice place for a relaxing dinner in an intimate setting.

It had a good variety of art and enjoyed, the most common thing was many different forms of butterfly art. Lots of eye catching things and plenty of pieces to make you think. It is a smaller sized gallery so you can easily visit and admire the art with a short amount of time. Which I definitely recommend was a great place to get away from the large holiday crowds of 5th Avenue. There were a number of people working for the gallery who I assume could answer any questions you have about a specific piece. Not a clue on prices, but assume they are pricey. If you are a fan of art check this out!

So many beautiful and artsy pieces!…read more Upon entering, you're greeted by a security guard, who was actually quite friendly. The art studio is two levels, but apparently, in order to peruse the second level, you have to be "somebody" in this world -- meaning, affluence, influence, ya know....you better have that paper. I don't have that kind of paper, so my humble self stayed on the lower level lol. The selections were unique, some were comical, and simply fun to look at. The pieces are definitely pricey, but it was nice to see the art and dream of a mansion with expensive pieces adoring the walls. I'd say give this place a visit if you need something to do while in the city. 10/10
