Great place for family and exercise, but why is it 80 degrees inside on a Wednesday evening session from 6 to 8:30? I spoke with some employees and they said that the air conditioning is hooked up to a timer and not a thermostat. What kind of stupid public relations move was that? Set the timer to cool off the building before the session on a 100+ degree day! That one thing took all the fun out of Skating here and they lost a 5 star rating. read more

Lady tried charging me $22 to sit while my party skated. Not too sure where people pay that kind of price to sit on a flimsy bench but most definitely not at Skate Express. Lady was very rude about it overall. I don't recommend going here unless you want to be stared down/intimidated by security that lack any motivation to speak or unless you'd like to deal with the Margaret Gesner type lady at the front desk. read more

Well I have to say... today was a great day. My wife and I decided to check out this place for some skating and dancing. When we went in we were greeted by an cheerful employee named Winter. Winter answered all our questions and even allowed us to enter to ask questions about purchasing skates. Once inside the doors we talked with employee member Colette and her manager. They took the time to help us decide on purchase of new skates or not. They encouraged us to stay to experience the atmosphere. We finally gave in and wanted to join the fun so we purchased entrance and rental. I have to tell you that this place was fun, energetic, full of mixed cultures and the music was groovy. After having fun for 30 plus minutes my wife and I decided to return back to the front counter and purchased some skates. We are definitely looking forward to returning again. Thank you again to the manager, Colette, Winter and the gentleman at the rental for a great experience. We hope to see you soon. read more

I wanted to come to skate express with friends and just to have fun... unfortunately I was told by one of the referees that I was going too slow but I wasn't even going slow and I was forced to join the middle circle while everyone was enjoying themselves I don't think it's right for me to be told to go to the middle just because I was cruising on the roller skate floor and just having fun. read more

My fault for wanting to take my family to a skating rink we have never been to before. The first sign of trouble was that there was a small group in front of me NOT getting help, so, I peaked around the corner to hear somebody yell, I'll be with you shortly. A few minutes later the group finally was approached only to end up walking out (another sign). My family and I were next to simply stand at the window and be ignored... not because there was nobody that saw us BUT not a single person on the other side of the glass cared enough to acknowledge us. Ad my temper reached a boiling point I finally asked a lady that was seriously standing directly in front of me what I thought was a simple question,"can you please ring us up?" Her response came quickly with a glare as she said no! There's only two people that can ring you up and they're both busy over there as she looked off into the rink. Lesson here, if you want to be treated with respect while spending your hard earned money DO NOT waste your time or money at this place! One last thing, I gave one star ONLY because negative is not an option, really to bad, I would have given a negative 10! Yelp, might consider this on future update. read more

Got invited to a friends birthday here and I've been to other skating rinks. This place is so unorganized and the layout of new skaters and fast skaters makes no sense. I was so disappointed and saw so many more collisions because they make slow skaters go all the way to the middle and faster skaters are constantly running into them as they cross through. Seasoned skaters there are rude and will push you out of there way I've never experienced that at any other place. I made the most out of the hour I could stand it there but still managed to get kicked in the knee. I've never felt I have had to write a bad review until now. Sorry. read more

Went to a kid's birthday party on 09/14/19 and was amazed at how rude the staff (manager in a regular t-shirt) was when we tried to rent out our pre-paid skates. She insisted on charging us, despite the fact the skates were pre-paid with our party and reservation. The girl that was working at the register by the skates came off like she just hates her job and staff. One of the other staff members even told her that I had been overcharged and she didn't seem to care. Not coming back to get double charged and treated like crap. So I've been coming here for YEARS with the kids for their Birthday parties. Today, I brought My son here with 12 of his friends for his birthday, it's family night! Family night, you should be playing pop 40hits, hip hop (like the radio) and so on..... not 1970's, 80's and slow R&B.... like WORLD ON WHEELS!! also... why put the people who don't know how to skate in the middle of the rink with nothing to hold on to??? Normally in conditions like this I don't give it more than one star but I have to give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a two ..with that being said I went on Sunday which is called Sunday Funday well I got to tell you it was just the opposite there was nothing fun about Sunday they're playing hip hop music the whole hour and a half I stayed because I couldn't take it any longer I left early ..also the music was very suggestive more for an adult Night not for little kids or teenagers in my opinion I noticed they had a lot of people on staff but no one had any answers for my concerns so one of the concerns clearly was the music so I approached somebody and she was standing next to the manager which I didn't know at the time he didn't take control of the conversation and meet my needs as a customer I told him my concern about the music he told me I was incorrect.....a little argumentative by the way.. with that said he told me I was incorrect that they were playing more than hip-hop I mean who do you go to when the manager doesn't have a solution or customer service hopefully this reaches the owner I do know I feel obligated to get on Yelp because it does need to get someone at a higher level of attention In my professional opinion sometimes employees get lazy and the customer service becomes a problem prime example of my experience with That being said when You have a job like this you have to really like what you do and be able to deal with family and children on a better level I strongly suggest the manager be retrained or removed regardless of how long he's been there business is business good luck people read more

Gave this place one star because it isn't possible to give it 0. Honestly, THE worst night of my life. Maybe it was because it was also my 18th birthday, and I expected it to be much more fun. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's fun on other nights. CAUTION: DO NOT, repeat DO NOT, go on Sunday Sessions, (Adult Night). Because if you're not a regular you're treated like crap. Everyone knows everyone, so I'm pretty sure it's the same group attending every Sunday. Also, if you aren't AMAZING at skating. People will literally bump into you on purpose to mess with you, especially since they're all pros at skating. Honestly, not as great as I expected. Walking into the place everything is blocked off by these huge doors, and when you walk in it's a small beaten up rink. There's a mini bowling court ( it's one 6ft long lane), bumper cars (there is no space for them whatsoever), and an arcade (totally beaten down). Even the skate patrol guys have no respect for new guests, they only care about returners. Great customer service! That's definitely the way to get new customers to come back! See you guys never! So if you're into spending $14 to go to some sketchy place with rude people, you've come to the right place. Sorry not sorry, I have NOTHING nice to say, besides the one guy handing out skates. He was pretty much the highlight of my experience. You rock dude. Keep up the good work! PS: Not the best area, so if you're a group of girls, I recommended a different place. Clean family fun for less than the cost of a movie ticket. I had not skated in a little over 10 years, during the Skate Junction days. Boy, those WERE the days lol! And I got to relive them here. I am rusty . . . very rusty. But I can roll around the floor, and that is what counts! When I went a month ago, it was packed with kids and teens. Last night at their 21 and over gig, it just seemed I was skating with people that were born with skates on their feet. I loved the old school music. Even if I had to take a break every so often, it is spectacular to see others skate SO beautifully. The grace, elegance, fun!, and agility is amazing. The referee looking people on the floor are really nice. And everyone is there to have a good time. I'm coming back more often to hone my craft!! read more

My kids enjoyed themselves skating. Would be nice if there were more amenities for guests that's not skating, and the cost of food is way to high and food not all that. The music on Saturday night was very good, thank u DJ. read more

Make sure you eat before you come here! Even though they have menu's for Hamburgers, Corn Dog, Popcorn ect. We were there 30mins after opening, & waited 25mins in line to get my grandson a hamburger. When we finally got up to counter to order a hambuger, we were told they were out of everything except corn dogs. Obviously they couldn't have been out of All food within 30mins of opening, so my assumption is that because it was busy, they didn't want to hassle with it. Or, if they DID run out of food, that would really be Bad Management. Other than than that, it was ok. Hadn't been skating in YEARS. some friends and I decided to take the trip to Skate Express. First off, i'd like to comment on the rink itself. The floor was well maintained. I've been to skating rinks with rough spots and uneven spots in the floor and that is no bueno. This floor was good here. We visited on a Friday Evening, which is labeled "Old School Funk Night". I must say that there were several songs played that didn't qualify as Old School Funk, but whatever though. the music was just OK. The price was right. I guess since they go "old school" on friday nights, they go will "old school" prices too. $6 including skate rental. Very Nice. Now lets talk about the DJ announcements... DJ might as well have been speaking German. This microphone was so full of echo and distortion it was ridiculous. My friends and I were completely baffled as to what dude was saying as he's giving instructions over the PA system. so if you can't understand what he is saying, it's not you. I'm pretty sure dude is using the same system that the parental figures used during the Peanuts cartoon with Snoopy & Charlie Brown. Aside from the undecipherable language, had a good time haha. I loved this place and the atmosphere. I had a very enjoyable night. I went on Sunday night where it's like "college themed" or something like that. I would suggest going here only if you are an experienced skater or at least know how to skate without falling . They say the middle of the rink is for beginners but it's really not .. That's the place the experienced go to practice more of their moves and show off . I'm only giving this place 3 stars because it was kind of expensive just to be skating and the lady at the front register is rude. read more

Sadly while skating rinks are almost extinct, there is still a gem in the mists of Chino. Who would have thought??? I mean it's CHINO! But don't let that be a hindrance. This place is great - good old fashion fun for all ages. The rink has been well maintained and the floor is pretty smooth. I like that they have 2 skating monitors on the floor at all times to help out anyone that has fallen and can't get up. At least once and sometime twice a month they have Friday night special - $6 from 9 - 11:30 including your skate rental. Some people have complained about the DJ who IMO does need a little help. He's still playing his vinyl records for the early '90s. Don't get me wrong there is a nostalgia to that, but I wouldn't mind hearing some Lady Gaga or LMFAO thrown in there every once in a while. That being said - check this place out if your want to have a fun night for a reasonable price. FYI - in addition to the skating rink, they have several video games where you can win tickets to earn prizes and they have bumper cars. The bumper cars area isn't large and they shut it down at 9:00, but if you get there early it might be worth checking it out. read more

The 90s live on!! I hadn't been here since I was a kid, but have come back a few times recently with a group of friends. The place has largely been kept in good shape. The staff tries their best to make sure everybody is having fun, with a good music selection and even some games. The snack bar is a fossil, with old equipment that hasn't been used in years, but that's ok because you don't really come here to eat. There's a strong sense of nostalgia, at least for me, when coming back here... and also, I'm pretty sure the rental skates are the same ones that were here ten years ago, haha. Good family fun and I definitely recommend dropping by. UPDATE: This last time I went, there was a really weird old guy there. I'm thinking that he must have been the owner of the place, because I highly doubt that any employee would be allowed to act in the way he did. He was an old, balding, short little man with a very high pitched voice. He was constantly screaming over the intercom various unnecessary warnings at nobody in particular... "DON'T SKATE SO FAST!! EVERYBODY SKATE IN THE SAME DIRECTION!!! GET OFF MY LAWN!!!" During a "limbo" contest for the kids, he was very rude on the intercom to the losers. "You're out! Get off! Get out!" So they should get rid of that guy. Felt that was worth mentioning. read more

I had my 22nd birthday party here (no shame) and it was a lot of fun! The atmosphere was kind of..odd. I can't really put my finger on why. Everyone working there was really nice and the people who were working at the arcade gave us extra prizes even though we were a couple of tickets off. They even gave me a dollar when the token machine ate mine. I went again on a free skate night and it was also pretty fun. My downsides: -I wish it were cleaner -the DJ didn't take song requests -the lockers were pretty small -the woman who was working at the food counter was unnecessarily snippy when I didn't know what sizes of pizza they offered -some of the clientele were kind of weird and trying to hit on younger teenage girls Other than that, it's a great place for a birthday party or a fun alternative to a movie night etc. read more

Yesterday was my first time visiting this rink. I went with my daughter to celebrate my birthday. One of my wheels had stopped rolling. I showed Marsha, a referee, and asked her if anyone could take a look at it. She sent me to the front to see DJ and said he could help me. I found DJ and he was awesome! As DJ was working on my wheel, there was an older white man wandering around, Allen. As I stood and waited, I watched him grab paper, crumble it and throw it on the floor, and make a "joke" to a female employee: is this a new game? I throw it and you sweep it up? She half chuckled in a tired, placating fashion and said "yeah" as she swept up the mess he made. I thought the interaction was rude, but I've never been before, so for all I knew, that was how they joked. A few minutes later, the man came back around and, as DJ has my wheel in his hand, said: are you almost done with that? Or do you have a whole other skate to do?! DJ said: I'm not done yet. The man said: I see that! I'm asking you if you're almost done?! Or if you have another skate! DJ said that he only had the one wheel.To which the man replied: you need to wrap it up! It's getting late and (gesturing to the skate rental area) things are piling up! Then the man walked off. DJ remained professional and I didn't ask what problem the man had. My skate got fixed and as I was making my way, I saw Marsha. I told her my skate was fixed and that DJ was awesome! She was happy and wished me a happy birthday. Before parting with her, I told her that Allen, was rather rude to DJ in front of me. I told her I found it odd that an older white guy would be behaving the way he did with DJ and the non-white female employee in an environment which is predominantly nonwhite AND considering today's political climate. She apologized for his behavior.About 30 minutes later, the incident was still bothering me. I saw Marsha again and asked to see someone who oversaw Allen. She asked if I would like to speak with the owner, David. I said yes. I was at the corner of the rink and the owner was informed I wanted to speak with him and he came over. From the minute he stood in front of me, it was evident that he was not feeling like speaking with me. I thanked him for coming over when called and asked him if I could have a few minutes of his time to share an incident. He nodded gruffly. I began by sharing that it was my first time to his establishment and that I came with my daughter to celebrate my birthday. Insert more annoyed nodding from David, the type of nodding which says "yes yes, get on with it". I told him that after I brought my daughter out, a wheel on my skate was seizing. I shared that I was sent to find DJ and that I thought DJ was wonderful and that he managed to fix my skate. More nodding from David. I, then, share about Allen, the old guy. I share the incident and my personal feelings about how/why he was behaving in that manner. I also share that Marsha apologized for the man's behavior. I mention that the incident was so bothersome that, normally, I would just take to Yelp to warn others, but since I've had the chance to speak with him (David), maybe it can be resolved without a review. David then says "Well, DJ isn't supposed to be fixing skates during free skate ... so". My eyes widen and I stiffen up and say that it looks like we have an issue of an awesome employee with excellent customer service and one who is just outright rude. I mentioned that the issue is bizarre considering how many other places there are at which to skate and this being my first time, I will not be back. David then says: but yes, I will talk to him (Allen) and let him know. I say: oh yes, because we all know how talking to bigots about their behavior completely changes their outlook. I rolled my eyes and said had this happened before I had my kids, I'd have offered to meet Allen outside so he could say, to my face, whatever was bothering him. I thanked David for his time and turned to leave.I warned both Marsha and DJ that the owner doesn't appear to be much better than Allen, hoping to give them a bit of insight of whom they work for. Literally every employee I dealt with was pleasant and professional, with the exception of a manager and the owner. Shameful.David appeared to be more concerned that DJ was helping a customer than he was by the fact that Allen was being rude and unprofessional. David appeared annoyed by my request to speak with him which also speaks volumes. I will not be returning and will share my experience here and with my friends and family. To me, this went beyond 2 people having a bad day. David and Allen are in positions of power over people whom they appear to not value and that fact is something neither make any attempts at disguising. It's important to know who and what our money is funding and I don't believe I can, in good conscience, support the beliefs and values of this business owner. read more

Came here with a couple of my co workers, but the experience was really meh. Unfortunately, we came on "old town funk" night so the music was reallllllly meh. The place smelled funny, and the pretzel I ordered was mediocre (not fully cooked). If you're looking to simply skate, then this place is your place. If you're looking to skate + a pleasant experience, then try moonlight roller rink in Glendale. It's cuter & doesn't smell like old cheese. read more
